Peple are ften surprised by my fear f bld and needles. Wrking in a public health unit, I prbably have mre daily interactin with syringes (注射器) than the average persn. But the truth is, having my bld drawn scares me.

Research shws that self-talk can increase prductivity, mtivatin and cnfidence, and even help manage feelings. “There is slid evidence that self-talk strategies imprve learning and perfrmance,” accrding t sprt psychlgist Antnis Hatzigergiadis, wh studies the phenmenn f self-talk.
He explains that there are generally three reasns why we practice self-talk: t instruct, t mtivate r t evaluate. Instructinal self-talk happens when we need t guide urselves thrugh a specific task, such as learning a new skill. Mtivatinal self-talk usually is used when we want t prepare urselves fr smething challenging; it can help t increase cnfidence. Evaluative self-talk mstly is related t past events r actins.
Hatzigergiadis stresses that if we want t use such self-talk t gd advantage, it needs t be shrt, precise and, mst f all, cnsistent. Of curse, self-talk als can be ineffective and even detrimental if it’s nt dne right.
