Yu Yi, Honorary President of Shanghai Yangpu Senior High School, is among the first generation of Chinese teachers after the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.

Yu was born in 1929, not long before Japan invaded (侵略) China. Her road to education was very difficult. During the war, Yu studied in many schools before she was admitted to Zhenjiang High School.

In 1947, Yu was admitted to the Department of Education of Fudan University in Shanghai. In 1951, as she was about to become a teacher, Yu decided to tie her future to the motherland.

As a Chinese teacher, Yu has been thinking about how to teach every class well. Rather than follow the traditional teaching method, in which teachers keep speaking while students just listen, Yu used a different one. She had her students read revolutionary (革命) books, which put the “red gene (基因)” in their blood and helped them set higher goals. In her view, Chinese classes not only teach children to use the language, they also shape children’s souls. For decades, Yu has devoted herself to her work. She has also written many books on teaching.

“I have said I will be a teacher for the rest of my life, and I will also learn to be a teacher for the rest of my life, which is by no means empty talk. I have been learning all my life, constantly improving and perfecting my personality. I keep thinking about how many lessons I have given and how many are really taught to students,” Yu says.

    24. Which of the following orders is right about Yu’s experiences?

She became the honorary president of Shanghai Yangpu Senior High School.

She went to the Department of Education of Fudan University.

She decided to connect her future with her country.

She attended Zhenjiang High School after studying in many schools.

    A. ④②①③ B. ④②③① C. ②③④① D. ②④③①

    25. How should students learn Chinese in Yu’s view?

    A. They should just learn more about Chinese history.

    B. They should only learn and use revolutionary works.

    C. They should speak Chinese and listen to teachers more.

    D. They should have their souls shaped besides using Chinese.

    26. What do Yu’s words mainly suggest?

    A. She decides to devote herself to teaching. B. She finds it not easy to work as a teacher.

    C. She has written a lot of books on teaching. D. She is fond of commenting on others’ lessons.

    27. How can we describe Yu according to the text?

    A. Wise but selfish.  B. Creative and learned.  C. Caring and forgiving.  D. Energetic but careless.

    C

Insects have difficulty handling the rising temperature brought on by climate changes. The ability to reproduce is also strongly affected by rising temperatures, even in northern areas of the world, according to a new study from Lund University in Sweden.

Insects cannot change their own body temperature, which is strongly influenced by the temperature in their immediate environment. In the current study, the researchers studied two closely related species of dragonflies (蜻蜓) in Sweden. The goal was to understand their ability to adapt to changes in temperature.

To study this, the researchers used a combination of field work in southern Sweden and thermography (热影像技术), a technology that makes it possible to measure body temperature in natural conditions. The information was then connected to the survival rates and reproductive success of the dragonflies in their natural populations.

The study shows that the survivorship of the dragonflies is high at relatively low temperatures (15℃~20℃). The reproductive ability is higher at temperatures between 20℃ and 30℃.

“There is therefore a temperature- dependent problem between survival on the one hand and the ability to reproduce on the other hand,” says Erik Svensson, professor at the Department of Biology at Lund University, who led the study.

The study also shows that the dragonflies’ ability to handle heat- related stress is limited. Insects are cold-blooded animals, so they rely on outside sources such as the sun or hot stones to raise their body temperature.

“Our results show that cold-blooded animals can suffer from overheating even if they live far up in the northern areas, and that their ability to change their body temperature against rising outside temperature is limited. The results also challenge a popular theory that animals’ plasticity (适应性) can help them survive under harsher environment, such as during heat waves, says Erik Svensson.

    28. What is the purpose of the study?

    A. To find the relationship between survival rate and temperature.

    B. To show dragonflies’ ability to deal with changes in temperature.

    C. To figure out the difficulties of northern insects’ adaption.

    D. To prove animals’ plasticity in the hot environment.

    29. What is paragraph 3 mainly about?

    A. The way of the study.  B. The result of the study.

    C. The importance of the study. D. The object of the study.

    30. What can be learned from Erik Svensson’s study?

    A. Insects’ survival has nothing to do with temperatures.

    B. Insects show low survival rates at lower temperatures.

    C. Insects change body temperatures to improve survival rates.

    D. Insects have higher reproductive ability between 20℃ and 30℃.

    31. What does the underlined word “harsher” in the last paragraph probably mean?

    A. More comfortable. B. More suitable. C. More difficult. D. More pleasant.

    D

In November, “NFT” was chosen as 2021’s “Word of the Year” by Collins Dictionary. NFT is short for Non-Fungible Token. It is a “one-of-a-kind” property in the digital world that can be bought and sold like any other piece of property but has no tangible (可触摸的) form. Now, NFTs are becoming popular in the art world.

Unlike the traditional artworks that are made by hand and have their own special technique, digital arts can be copied and gained for free. But NFTs could provide a digital certificate (证明), showing the ownership of a unique virtual or physical artwork.

“In the digital world, you wouldn’t know if something is a copy of something else because the copy is almost perfect. The NFT was the first to prove who owns this property,” said Pindar Wong, chairman of Internet financial infrastructure consultancy VeriFi.

Along with protecting ownership, NFTs allow the owner to get a payment each time his/her work is sold. The artwork itself still belongs to the owner, and the buyers can get limited rights to show the digital artwork. So whenever the NFTs are sold, each transaction (交易) can only be made with the owner.

“NFTs can ensure that owners, including artists or musicians, can have a part of the income from every transaction, which could encourage their creations,” said Sylvia Wang, a consultant at business-to-business platform ArtBiz Asia.

That’s why many experts believe that NFTs can greatly change the art industry. According to the latest report, in the first half of 2021, the sales of NFT digital artworks reached $2.5 billion, an increase from just $13.7 million for the same period in 2020.

US artist Mike Winkelmann said that with the help of NFT technology, the art field has entered a new time. He created a digital work of art—Everydays: The First 5,000 Days. In March, it was sold for $69 million.

    32. What is NFT?

    A. A piece of artwork. B. A useful dictionary. C. A kind of property. D. A copy of something else.

    33. What can we know about digital artworks?

    A. They have tangible forms. B. They are very easy to copy.

    C. They hardly have any value. D. It’s easy to identify their owners.

    34. What does Sylvia Wang agree with?

    A. NFTs could largely benefit owners.  B. The creator can’t get paid for digital works.

    C. NFTs have the chance to replace real artworks.  D. Buyers have no right to use the digital artworks.

    35. What could be a suitable title for the text?

    A. The Charm of Digital Art B. Hot Words of the Year 2021

    C. Digital Art Changing the Art Field D. NFT Creating Value in Digital Art

    第二节  (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)

    阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

Why do more and more people show interest in cultural heritage (遗产) these days?    36    Maybe it’s because technology has made it easier to learn about our ancestors. Here’s a list of several ways to connect you with your cultural heritage.

If you aren’t sure where your ancestors are from, a DNA test can be a good way. Companies like Family Tree DNA will sell you a testing box that teaches you what to do.    37    There have been concerns about the safety—your DNA information sold to companies without asking you. If a DNA test isn’t your cup of tea, you can try several other ways.

One of the most enjoyable ways to learn about your family tree is sitting down with an older relative to chat about it. Talk in person with a grandparent, great-grandparent, or any other family member who’s been around long enough to tell you about the past.    38

39    So one way to bridge the gap between your family s past and present is to cook a traditional meal. If your ancestors are from Italy, you can learn how to host an Italian dinner party. Invite some relatives to share your common heritage over a meal.

Learning a language is a unique way to connect with your ancestors and culture.    40    Once you’ve known the language of your ancestors, you may want to get in touch with your heritage by picking up the basics of that language.

    A. Food is part of your cultural heritage.

    B. This is a great way to learn about your ancestors.

    C. You generally get your test results within a few weeks.

    D. It can also let you meet new people and have more experiences.

    E. Food can help you feel like you re truly experiencing that culture.

    F. People are eager to learn as much about our ancestors as possible.

    G. Perhaps they want to have a sense of belonging in our globalized world.

The Internet started in    56    1960s as a way for government researchers to share information. Computers then were too large and heavy    57    (move) and in order to make use of information in any computer, one had to either travel to the site of the computer or have computer tapes    58    (send) through the traditional postal system.

Another reason    59    the birth of the Internet was the heating up of the Cold War. The Soviet Union’s launch of the Sputnik satellite made the USA consider ways that information could still be shared even after an attack. This led to the    60    (appear) of the ARPANET (Advanced Research Project Agency Network),    61    eventually developed into the Internet. ARPANET was a great success but membership    62    (limit) to certain research organizations. In response to this, other networks were created to provide information sharing.

January 1, 1983 is considered the official birthday of the Internet. Before this, the    63    (variety) computer networks did not have a standard way to communicate with each other. A new communication protocol (协议) called Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) was founded, This allowed different    64    (kind) of computers on different networks to “talk” to each other. ARPANET and other networks    65    (official) changed to the TCP/IP standard on January 1, 1983, hence the birth of the Internet.

    A Special Christmas Gift

December 1st. Always on that day, Mom would softly announce, “It’s time.” When we heard those words, we all knew it was time to write our letters to Santa. So, we began our special letters. Jimmy asked for a baseball. Wilbur liked anything to do with art. This was my letter to Santa.

    Dear Santa,

My Mom and Dad say I have been very good this year. I only want two toys this year. But what I want most is a dog. I have been asking for one all year. Mom and Dad say we can’t afford to feed an animal right now. It makes me sad, but it’s alright. Maybe next year Mom will say it’s OK. That’s all, Santa. Say hi to Mrs. Claus. And Merry Christmas.

    Love, Sheila

The next morning we would walk three blocks to the large red, white and blue mailbox on the corner of Stimson and Forth. It was a special mailbox, only for letters children wrote to Santa.

Christmas Eve finally arrived. I was so excited that I found it difficult to fall asleep. But sleep finally came and so did Christmas morning. I woke up hearing my brothers down the hall shouting at my Mom and Dad. “Wake up! Wake up! Santa came! Come on! Come on!” Jimmy came running and jumping on my bed. “Santa’s been here! Come on! Let’s open presents!”

We all ran downstairs. Our eyes were shining like wildfire as we eyed over plenty of presents under the tree. Then Dad handed out the gifts one at a time. I kept watching as my brothers unwrapped gift after gift. Dad said, “This year you are going to be last to get your presents, because you are the oldest.” I didn’t think anything of it but nodded.

    注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;

    2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

    听力部分录音稿

    (Text 1)

W: Jason, I’m going to work late tonight, or I would never finish the report. Don’t forget Mike has an appointment with the dentist at 3:00 pm.

M: Don’t worry. I will take him there on time.

    (Text 2)

M: Excuse me. I fell off the bike and broke my leg. I can’t walk. Can you give me a hand, please?

W: OK. Get in the car. I’ll take you to the nearest hospital.

    (Text 3)

W: Slow down, Adam. You’re driving like a mad man. There’s plenty of time.

M: I told Nancy I’d pick her up at 9:15. I can’t miss the time.

    W: Relax. It’s not even 9 o’clock yet.

    (Text 4)

W: Excuse me. I seem to have lost my son. His name is Daniel. He wears blue sportswear and white shoes. About 1.4 meters.

M: Take it easy, Madam. May I have your name first?

    W: Shirley.

    (Text 5)

W: I need to have a nice vacation this year.

M: Yeah. You got the idea. It’s refreshing to get away for a while. You’d better travel with your friends or family members.

    W: You are right.

    (Text 6)

M: OK, let’s begin. Hello, everyone. My name’s Robert, and I’ll be your teacher for this class—intercultural communication.

W: I don’t understand what you are saying.

M: Uh, to begin with, please take a look at the programme in front of you. As you all should know by now, this class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:50.

    W: All right.

M: The grade is determined by your performance in a midterm and a final test, periodic quizzes, and classroom participation.

W: I’m not sure whether I can pass or not.

    (Text 7)

W: This is a nice set of wheels. How much did the dealer charge you for this?

W: OK then, let’s go fast! Whoa! This thing can really speed up fast.

M: Check out what happens when I put on the brakes suddenly. Can it stop quickly?

W: Hey, just watch out for police or you re going to end up in prison. You know you tend to go fast.

M: Yes, I know it. I went through my last set of tires fast. I even had three flat tires in two weeks.

W: Now watch...some guys probably run a red light and hit your car.

M: Cut it out, would you?

    (Text 8)

M: I’m looking forward to relaxing this coming weekend.

W: I hope that I can finally find some free time too. I’ve been so busy recently.

M: How might you spend the weekend?

W: I hope to do a little gardening. I find it very relaxing.

M: I hope the weather is nice. I could go and play golf.

W: I heard that the weather would be good.

M: Hopefully, we’ll both have the relaxing weekend.

W: Yes, but something could come up and stop that wish coming true.

M: Yes, there’s always the possibility of some urgent work requiring our attention.

    (Text 9)

    第一节

    One possible version:

    Dear Mike,

I’m glad to hear from you and share something about the garbage sorting in our city.

Living in a nice environment is our common goal. So garbage sorting has been practised in our city. We put wastes into relevant rubbish bins painted in different colors. To be specific, throw harmful wastes such as waste batteries into the red rubbish bin. The green one is for waste paper and bottles. Thanks to the effort, our city has been getting cleaner and fresher.

Please be free to ask me if you have any other questions.

    Yours,

    Li Hua

    第二节

    One possible version:

One by one all of the packages had been opened, none left. I couldn’t understand. I had been so good this year. Tears began rolling down my face. I rushed to my room. My Mom went upstairs, asking me to come back down. Dad wanted to talk to me. Still crying, I slowly made my way back. I stopped at the foot of the staircase. With a red face and a running nose, I looked at my Dad, annoyed.

Dad gently signaled to me to follow him. As I approached the back door, I saw my Mom holding a handsome black dog with deep dark brown eyes. I was shocked. My Dad said softly, “Merry Christmas sweetheart.” I ran to my Dad and jumped in his arms. Crying uncontrollably, I hugged and kissed him, saying, “Oh daddy, thank you, I love him so much. I will take real good care of him.” I had never been so happy at that moment as I got the best gift ever.
