    Can Training Yur Wrking Memry Make Yu Smarter?
    We wuld all like t increase ur cgnitive (认知的) ability beynd the limits set by Mther Nature. S it’s n wnder that brain-training prgrams — which fcus n training ur wrking memry — are a multibillin-dllar industry. But can this kind f training really make us smarter?
    Cgnitive training sees the brain as a kind f muscle (肌肉) that can be made strnger with the
    right kind f practice. Althugh peple did much research, there has been n agreement abut its effectiveness. Sme think that cgnitive training increases sme cgnitive abilities, while thers less hpeful.
    Yet we d knw that sme cgnitive skills prbably g tgether and are predictrs f real-life skills such as wrk perfrmance. Thus, training ne cgnitive skill might lead t an imprvement in many ther cgnitive and nn-cgnitive skills. That is the key hypthesis (假设) n which wrking-memry training is based.
    T test this hypthesis, we examined all the studies abut wrking-memry training. The results were very clear. Wrking-memry training did nt shw any effect n children’s fluid intelligence (流体智力), a persn’s ability t slve new prblems and get used t new situatins. It didn’t influence their educatinal achievement r ther cgnitive abilities, either. The nly dependable effect was that children gt better at what they were trained t d.
