W: Yes. Earth Day this year is approaching. My classmates and I have decided to do something special to save our earth. We plan to collect some old recycling materials that people throw away.

M: What for?

W: To make something useful, like toys and shopping bags and so on. Then we’ll give them away to the neighbors.

M: Good idea. I’d like to join you. When and where will you gather?

W: At the entrance to our community. I’ll be present at 9 am. You’d better arrive ten minutes after that.

W: We have these ones. They are beautiful.

M: How much are they?

W: 68 dollars.

M: That’s a little expensive for me. Do you have any cheaper ones?

W: Yes. This one is on sale. It’s only half of that one.

M: Okay. I will take it.

M: So, tomorrow is the big day. I’m feeling excited.

W: Not me. I’ve never liked standing up in front of the class.

M: Take it easy. We’ve read many books about the subject, and we’ve practiced lots of times.

W: Do you think we’ve got enough things to talk about? I mean, Miss Grace said she didn’t want us to speak for more than 15 minutes but now ... I’m not sure we can talk for that long.

M: Well, we worked hard and we’ve got plenty of materials. And I’ve managed to find some photographs we can use for the presentation. I’ll put them up on the wall before the class starts.

W: There’s another thing. We need to leave some time at the end in case people want to ask us something, don’t we? Do you think we’ll be able to answer them?

M: If there are any difficult ones, we can tell people we’ll find out after the class.

W: Look, why don’t we meet again? Just to make sure we get everything perfect.

M: Um, yeah, it would be a good idea. We can practice tomorrow morning if you want.

W: That’s OK.

 Hi, there. My name’s Wendy, and I’d like to tell you about a fantastic trip to New Zealand. New Zealand has two main islands—the North Island and the South Island. I went to the South Island. There are many ways to see it —you can hire a car to drive, or go around by motorbike. You can even see the island by boat, but I went on what’s known as the green bus. We started in Nelson, which is in the north-west of the island. Then we headed off down the west coast, stopping at different places and up to our final destination—Christchurch, the second largest city in New Zealand, lying on the east coast. I also went on a day tour to a place called Kaikoura, which is 150 kilometers north of Christchurch. It is famous for its sea life and also for being one of the most exciting places in the world to see ocean birds. I was eager to see my favorite animal－dolphins, and there were whales too.

There’re interesting things to buy on the South Island. Nelson Saturday Market is brilliant. There’re all sorts of goods in the market. I got a fantastic wooden mask as a souvenir, but there were also paintings, jewelery and other things that would have been nice to bring home.
