I wrk at a US university where my team and I are trying t learn mre abut water birds, especially ne called the American black duck. And we've just started using an exciting piece f equipment called a “night-visin scpe”, which allws us t see the ducks in the dark!
We’re wrried abut black ducks mainly because their numbers have fallen hugely and we dn’t knw whether there’s enugh fd n the east cast fr these animals. There’s lts f infrmatin abut their daytime
activities, but nthing abut what they d at night, because we simply haven’t had the equipment. But this new “scpe” will prduce really clear pictures, even n mnless nights, s we’ll be able t find ut mre and make better decisins abut lking after the area where they live based n what we learn.
