句中fear用作及物动词, 意为“害怕; 惧怕”。后跟that引导的宾语从句。例如: Some students fear that they can’t learn English well.  有些学生害怕学不好英语。

【归纳拓展】fear的不同搭配

fear to do sth.  害怕做某事。

例如: The girl fears to go out at night.  这个女孩害怕晚上出门。

(2)fear for sb.  /sth.  为……担心; 为……担忧。例如:

Police fear for the lost children.  警察为丢失的孩子们担忧。
