Analysis of Teaching Material (教材分析):
This lesson is the first period of Module9 Unit2 in Junior English II. It’s a lesson of reading and writing. The main topic of this module is Life Story. This lesson is about the life of William Shakespeare. The passage can be mainly divided into three parts. Part I is a brief introduction of William Shakespeare. Part II mainly describes his life story and Part III tells us when he died and why he was famous. This kind of passage is a little difficult for the students because most of the time, descriptions are boring and hard to understand. So in this lesson, I must try my best to make it interesting and easy to understand.
Analysis of Students (学生分析):
Most students in this class are good at English and they have good habits to learn by themselves. They can deal with most basic problems by themselves or by cooperation. In class, the teacher just needs to help them to solve the teaching importance and difficulties. However, most of them are used to learning by themselves. They are not so good at cooperation that they need practice. So this time, I am going to have a group competition to help the students to take active parts in this lesson.
Mentality of Designing(设计思路):
According to the teaching materials and the students’ English levels, I will mainly have a group competition to attract the students’ interests in taking part in the lesson. Before the lesson, I will ask the students to learn by themselves to do some easy and basic tasks. At the beginning of the lesson, I will check the result of their self-learning and then guide them to read and enjoy the passage through all kinds of teaching activities. After that, they should work in groups and write about a famous Chinese writer following the example of the life story of William Shakespeare to improve their writing abilities. In this way, I can focus on the teaching importance and difficulties to improve the students’ reading and writing abilities.

Step1: Rules of group competition(小组竞赛规则)
In this lesson, the students should work in groups to answer the teachers’ questions as possible as they can. Each time they answer the teacher’s question, they can get a little flower and the teacher will put it in the following form. At the end of this lesson, we will see which group gets the most flowers and the winners will get the drink.
设计说明:
当前正值炎夏,因此以一瓶大雪碧作为奖励,吸引学生积极参与课堂小组合作学习。学生每次回答问题都会得到一朵小花,届时老师会将小花画在相应小组的表格内。课堂结束时获得小花最多的小组将会赢得这瓶大雪碧。课前先明确小组竞赛的原则,有利于激起学生的斗志,吸引他们积极参与课堂学习活动,培养英语学习兴趣。

1. Talk about Shakespeare and his works.
2. Check the correct past tense of some irregular verbs.

检查学生预习情况。在这一步骤中,主要检查课前学生对课文主要人物的了解情况和不规则动词过去式的掌握情况。这个班学生的英语基础较好,学习自觉性高。让他们通过课前预习解决课文中简单基础的知识,课堂上集中精力解决阅读中的重难点,有利于提高他们的阅读能力和课堂教学的效率。

1. Read Paragraph One carefully and fill in the following blanks.

这一部分是整篇课文的重点,主要是以时间为线索帮助学生弄清楚莎士比亚的生平事迹。不规则动词过去式的用法贯穿始终。让学生通过精读,用关键词填空的方式提高学生的信息归纳能力和细节阅读能力。复述故事情节,有利于培养学生在语言输入后的语言输出能力。思维导图的使用,让阅读材料更加系统化,清楚明了。
3. Read Paragraph Five and finish the following mind map and then read it together.

通过思维导图,让学生系统概括莎士比出名的原因。把原本乏味的文字转化成直观的图形,方便学生理解。
4. Questioning time. If the students have any problems about the passage, they can ask the teacher for help.

在课文学习结束后,让学生自由发问,查漏补缺。有助于学生自我总结反思,提高学习效率。
5. Knowledge garden. Talk about some important structures.

总结文中一些重要的表达,方便学生记忆,并有助于在接下来的写作中灵活运用。
Step5: Conclusion(归纳总结)
Have a conclusion to make clear about how to write about a famous person. It will help the students to write their compositions.

在新课学习完成后,跟学生一起总结如何写一位名人的生平。主要弄清写作的结构如何,有哪些方面要写到等,为马上要进行的写作做好准备。
Step6: Writing(写作)
Write about a famous Chinese writer according to(根据) the following information.
1. The students work in groups and write the composition.
2. Show some examples of the students’ compositions and correct them together with the whole class.
设计说明:
在学完莎士比亚的生平后,仿照课文介绍一位中国著名的作家——老舍。在大量的语言输入后进行语言输出,有利于学生巩固所学知识,并学以致用。在学生完成习作后,利用手机或平板电脑拍下两三个学生的作文,并展示到多媒体教学平台上,跟学生一起修改。及时修改评讲,有利于学生及时发现自己的错误,及时改正,提高学习效率。

这节课主要根据学生的实际情况和英语水平,采用了翻转课堂学习模式、小组合作学习模式和任务型教学模式。教学设计合理,环环相扣,讲练结合,充分体现了教师的主导作用和学生的主体地位,切实贯彻了新课标的要求。教学活动灵活多样,学生参与面大,参与的积极性很高,课堂学习气氛浓厚,很好地培养了学生的竞争意识和合作意识。特别是根据时节开展争夺饮料的小组竞赛,符合客观环境、学生性格特点和要求,吸引学生积极参与课堂合作学习。另外,本节课有鲜明的信息技术交互使用特点。利用信息技术,合理运用了视频、双人游戏、思维导图、云课堂和平板电脑辅助教学等,令到英语阅读课堂大放异彩,精彩纷呈!
教学反思:
本节课主要运用了翻转课堂学习模式、小组合作模式和任务型教学模式。首先,课前做了大量的准备工作,思考课堂教学活动,指导学生预习,准备教学材料和课堂竞赛奖品等。课堂上,先跟学生解释课堂学习分组和竞赛规则,鼓励学生积极参与课堂学习,为小组争得小花,以协助小组获胜。在课堂导入环节,采用了视频导入方法,生动易懂,非常符合学生的兴趣和年龄特点。导入新课后,先通过提问和双人游戏等活动,检查学生的预习情况,以便在教学过程在阅读过程中,合理引导学生解决学习中的重难点和预习过程中碰到的难题。在阅读过程中,设计了速读、精读和复述故事等教学活动,以帮助学生理解莎士比亚的生平事迹。阅读任务结束后,及时地对所学内容进行了概括归纳,并在此基础上进行进一步的写作操练,实现了语言输入后的语言输出。在语言输出环节,主要设计了一个仿照阅读课文——莎士比亚的生平,写一位中国名人(老舍)的生平的教学活动。写作前,先跟学生一起归纳总结介绍莎士比亚生平的写作模式和流程,然后给出一些重点的参考词汇和参考句型,并给学生足够的时间去通过小组合作学习、讨论并把老舍的生平写出来。最后,选择两位学生的习作,现场用手机拍照上传至教学平台,全班同学一起修改。总的来说,本节课采用了合适的教学模式和现代化的教学手段,课堂教学容量大、生动形象、引人入胜,极大地提高了课堂教学效率。在今后的教学实践中,我会继续努力实践,不断探索创新,争取获得最优化的课堂教学效果!
