一、教学内容与分析
1. Reading for knowledge
本课以趣闻的形式,向学生们呈现了一篇综合了本单元语言知识点的短文,短文主要讲的是人们在观看马戏团动物表演,在享受表演带来的欢声笑语时,应该思考一下这样对动物是否公平。
2. Thinking tasks
本部分在学生阅读理解的基础上,以对比填表的方式进一步来理解动物,让学生们意识到动物真正的需求,激发生的内心感触,同时也可检测学生对本单元语言知识的掌握情况。Sentence bank是用来给学生提供语言支持的。Look them up是本部分出现的一些比较难的词组,学生可以查阅词典了解它们的意思。
二、课前准备
1. 准备教学视频,教学挂同和教学课件。
2. 准备本课的词语卡片。
3. 准备奖励贴等,进行学习效果的评价。
三、初学步骤与建议
Step 1: Warm-up/Revision
1)师生问好。
2)图片游戏热身。
教师出示各种动物的图片,让学生边看边举手回答,说对的学生,教师发一枚奖励贴,为本课的学习做热身。
Step 2: Presentation
1)教师播放马戏团表演的视频。让同学们仔细观看,然后说出看到的动物。
T: Do you like circus shows?
S: Yes.
T: What animals did you see in the video?
S: A monkey. / A tiger. / An elephant.
教师带领学生说一说视频中的动物有哪些。
2)教师请同学们打开书,快速扫读,圈出短文中的动物单词,自己读一读。然后教师播放短文录音,让学生两人一组听音,模仿读单词。
3)教师再次播放视频,让学生说出动物们正在表演的项目。
T: Please look and say what they are doing now.
S: They are playing with each other. / It is jumping over a fire. / They are dancing. / It is riding a bicycle. ...
教师发奖励贴给说对的学生。
4)Guess where they are.(教师用PPT出示三组图片,同与种动物在不同的场合的情境)
T: Let’s guess. Who are they? Where are they? What are they doing?
S1: They are monkeys. One is in the circus. The other is in the nature.
S2: One is riding a bicycle in the circus. One is looking for food in the forest.
...
教师发奖励贴给说对的学生。
5)Thinking tasks.
让学生四人一组细读短文,合作完成以下表格。
What do animals do in a circus? | What do animals do in nature? |

6)学生以小组为单位,说出自己的答案,教师评价,对表现突出的小组奖励。
Step 3: Practice
教师将本课一些词语打乱顺序,用PPT闪烁的形式,随机展示,让学生边看边起立读出词语。
让学生以组为单位,轮流进行,看哪个组说的词语数量多。教师和学生共同给出评价。
Step 4: Language use
组织学生给下列动物分类:elephant, pigeon, seal, carp, grass carp, whale, parrot, lion。

Step 5: Assessment
1)课堂教学过程中的评价。
(1) 教师可将本单元所学的动词短语图片作为评价丁具,如写邮件、洗衣服、拖地等。
(2) 教师应注重对学生所学的知识、技能、课堂表现等进行鼓励性的评价。
(3) 教师应体现师生、生生(包括学生个人和小组)的多元主体的评价。
2)教师指导学生完成《活动手册》中的相关内容,并进行评价。
Step 6: Extended Activities
让学生阅读下文后回答问题:
Best Places to See Wildlife Animals in Nature
In the United States, national parks are the best place to start. For viewing sea animals, the best places include the Channel Islands off the coast of California. The islands are surrounded by sea lions, seals, gray whales and humpback whales. There are also a lot of tide pools that house creatures such as sea urchins and anemones.
Another area great for water animals is Glacier Bay in Alaska. Humpback whales and sea lions are in abundance off shore and on land bears and moose are often times available for viewing.
Other national parks for best wildlife viewing are Denali National Park in Alaska, Glacier National park in Montana. Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado and Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.
Questions:
•What kinds of the wildlife animals can we see in the Channel Islands of California?
•How many national parks are mentioned in the passage? What are they?
