- knew about a football player called Li Hua.
- learnt about how to write something about their own favourite players.

Teach students how to write about one’s favourite player in English.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Revision
- Review :
What sport do Sandy and Millie often play ?( Sandy and Millie often play volleyball .)
What sport does Kitty like ? (She likes tennis )
What about Simon ? (Simon likes football )
What is Amy good at? (Amy is good at swimming .)
- Lead-in :
Many people like playing football . Today we’ll meet a football player .Now let’s learn some new words first .(Show some new words on the screen)
Step 2 Presentation
1. Please read the article on page 20 quickly and tell me :
What’s the player’s name ? (His name is Lihua .)
2. I want to know more about Li Hua . Here are my questions . Look at Part B1 . In which paragraph can I find the answers ? Please help me write the correct paragraph numbers in the blanks in Part B1 .
- Millie wants to make a card about Li Hua . Can you listen to the tape and then complete the information on it ?

Step 3 Practice
- T: Look at Part B 2 . Millie has some questions about Li Hua . She needs your help . Please read after the tape and find the answers .
(While the students are listening to the tape and doing doing the exercises, the teacher walk around, check their answers and give some instruction if necessary)
- T: It’s role-play time . Work in pairs and talk about Li Hua like Millie and Simon . You can ask more questions .(The teacher can make a conversation with one student to give other students a model.) Then encourage the students to ask more questions to know more about
Li Hua. For example,
1) Where does he live ? (He lives in Beijing .)
2) What does he do every day ? (He plays football every day .)
3) What does he do in his free time ? (He studies English and listening to music .)
4) Why does he listen to music ? (Because it makes him happy.)
5) What’s Li Hua’s dream ? (He wants to play in the next World Cup .)
Ask several groups to role-play the dialogue, and at the same time encourage them and praise them.
- Have an interview :
If you are Li Hua . I’ll have an interview with you .

2) Are you a member of Huanghe Football Club ?
3) Where do you come from ?
4) Where do you live now ?
5) What do you do every day ?

- Work in pairs : One ask , and the other answer .
