51.Directins: Read the fllwing passage. Summarize the main idea and the main pint(s) f the passage in n mre than 60 wrds. Use yur wn wrds as far as pssible.
It ges withut saying that the language spken by the majrity f British peple has the same name as the language spken by mst citizens f the Nnetheless, quite apart frm well-dcumented lexical (词汇的) differences - pavement/sidewalk, lift/elevatr, etc. - there are still sme wrds and phrases which can cause cnfusin and misunderstanding between speakers f the tw different frms. That's why sme peple say that Great Britain and the United States are natins separated by a cmmn language. There are practical reasns fr this.
When the first English settlers arrived in what we nw call America, the language they spke was naturally the same as that spken by their cmpatrits (同胞) n the ther side f the Atlantic Ocean, Hwever, they immediately saw things which didn't exist in Eurpe, ften items used and made by Native Americans, such as canes and mccasins and creatures such as buffal. They als picked up wrds which they heard being used by ther Eurpean immigrants. The wrd "bss", fr example, was used by settlers frm Hlland in New Yrk in the mid-17th century. It cmes frm the Dutch wrd "baas", which means master. The wrd "ckie" als cmes frm the Dutch "kekje".
There are many wrds, phrases and even grammatical structures which are mistaken fr Americanisms (美式英语用语) in Britain when they are nthing f the srt. Very ften, they represent nt an American imprt, but an riginal frm f British English which has disappeared in Britain. The verbs "guess" meaning think and "lan" meaning lend and the adjective "mad" meaning angry are frequently criticized as Americanisms, yet they all appeared in British English hundreds f years ag. In the case f "lan", it was used as lng ag as 1,200 years! In fact, English spken in the UK has changed s thrughly in the last 500 years that American English nw represents the last place where sme riginal British English frms can be fund.

The drug stre was clsing fr the night and Alfred Higgins was abut t g hme when his new bss apprached him.
“Empty yur pckets please, Alfred,” Sam Carr demanded in a firm vice.
Alfred pretended t be shcked but he knew he’d been caught. Frm his cat he withdrew a make-up kit, a lipstick and tw tubes f tthpaste.
“I’m disappinted in yu, Alfred!” said the little gray-haired man.
“Srry, Sir. Please frgive me. I’ve never dne such a thing befre.” Alfred lied, hping t gain the ld man’s sympathy.
Mr Carr’s brw furrwed (皱眉) as he reached fr the phne, “D yu take me fr a fl? Let’s see what the plice have t say. But first I’ll call yur mther and let her knw her sn is heading t jail.”

Mr. Carr was surprised when Mrs Higgins finally arrived. She was very calm, quiet and friendly. “Is Alfred in truble?” she asked.
“He’s been stealing frm the stre,” the ld man clly replied.
Mrs. Higgins put ut her hand and tuched Mr. Carr’s arm with great gentleness as if she knew just hw he felt. She spke as if she did nt want t cause him any mre truble. “What d yu want t d, Mr. Carr?”
The wman’s calm and gentle manner disarmed the nce-angry stre-wner. “I was ging t get a cp. But I dn’t want t be cruel. Tell yur sn nt t cme back here again, and I’ll let it g.” Then he warmly shk Mrs. Higgins’s hand.
Mrs. Higgins thanked the ld man fr his kindness, then mther and sn left. They walked alng the street in silence. When they arrived hme his mther simply said, “G t bed, yu fl.”
In his bedrm, Alfred heard his mther in the kitchen. He felt n shame, nly pride in his mther’s actins. “She was smth!” he thught. He went t the kitchen t tell her hw great she was, but was shcked by what he saw.
His mther’s face lked frightened, brken. Nt the cl, bright face he saw earlier. Her lips mved nervusly. She lked very ld. There were tears in her eyes.
This picture f his mther made him want t cry. He felt his yuth ending. He saw all the trubles he brught her and the deep lines f wrry in her grey face. He seemed t have never really seen his mther like that.

【答案】There is a tendency that a grwing number f high schl students are extending their knwledge during their spare time. By far, there are tw cmmn ways f teaching available: nline teaching and face-t-face teaching. Persnally speaking, I prefer the latter.
T begin with, despite the apparent cnvenience f nline teaching, face-t-face teaching ffer mre chances fr teachers t directly supervise the learning prcess f students, thus rendering effective-teaching. Besides, face-t-face teaching creates mre pssibilities f clse interactin and feedback-gathering. Thus, an interactive envirnment invlving teachers makes fr smth learning f students. What’s the ,mst, teachers can gather feedback t adjust their methds t make their teaching mre effective in class. And this bviusly is nt within the capability f nline teaching.
In a wrd, face-t-face teaching prevails fr its cmparatively high effectiveness based n cnstant supervisin and interactins. Hpefully, many students can eventually enrich their knwledge thrugh face-t-face teaching.

    IV. Summary Writing (10分)
71.When a rather dirty, prly-dressed persn kneels at yur feet and puts ut his hands t beg fr a few cins, d yu hurry n, nt knwing what t d, r d yu feel sad and hurriedly hand ver sme mney? What shuld ur attitude t beggars be? There can't be n questin that the wrld is full f terrible sad stries. It must be terrible t have n idea where ur next meal is cming frm. It seems cruel nt t give sme mney t beggars.
Certainly, mst f the wrld's great religins rder us t be pen-hearted and share what we have with thse less frtunate than urselves. But has the wrld changed? Maybe what was mrally right in the ld days, when ne knew exactly wh in the village had suffered misfrtune and needed help, is n lnger the best idea. Quite a few peple will nt give t beggars. Let us lk at their arguments.
First, sme believe that many city beggars dress up n purpse t lk pitiable and actually make a gd living frm begging. Giving t beggars nly encurages this srt f evils. Secndly, there is the wrry that the mney yu give will be spent n beer, wine r drugs. Thirdly, there is the pinin that there is n real excuse fr begging. One might be pr, but that is n reasn fr lsing ne's sense f pride and self-dependence.
Related t this is the pinin that the prblem shuld be dealt with by the gvernment rather than rdinary peple. Sme peple think beggars shuld g t the lcal gvernment department and receive help.
It is hard t cme t a cnclusin; there arc varius cases and we must deal with them differently. A few cins can save a life in sme situatins, and even if the mney is wasted, that des nt take away the mral gdness f the giver.

【答案】At present, accrding t a regulatin, senir high schl students in Shanghai must cmplete a research prject within three years t get their senir high schl graduatin diplma, which has arused a heated discussin. Different peple have different pinins n the regulatin. The supprters think that it des gd t cultivating students' interests and specialties, making them find the majrs they are interested in, and the ppnents think that the learning tasks f senir high schl students are heavy enugh, and it will undubtedly increase their burden.
Frm my pint f view, the advantages f linking a prject research and diplma are greater than disadvantages, because althugh students will spend a lt f time n prject research in the tense study time, in this prcess, they will imprve their ability t slve prblems independently, and mre imprtantly, they will find their wn interests, which will lay a fundatin fr them t chse the majr in the university. In view f the reasns abve, I supprt the regulatin.

Nw anther American educatin icn may be disappearing: the hardbund textbk. Mre and mre schl districts are replacing traditinal textbks with electrnic nes. Electrnic textbks are usually accessed either thrugh an nline server r are dwnladed t student laptps.
In Nrth Texas, Plan and Irving schls are intrducing e-bks int a few classrms, and Lancaster schl fficials als are cnsidering them. But n lcal district appears t be ging as far as Frney. The district mst likely wuld be the first in the state t use e-bks in every classrm fr grades five t twelve.
Officials pint ut several reasns fr turning t e-bks. Fr ne, they are easier t update. Thus the publishers are able t find ways t d nline textbks and they can g back and change infrmatin. Using e-bks will better prepare students fr cllege and the wrkplace.
Rapid district grwth is anther reasn. The number f the students in the district is expected t duble within five years. It’s difficult t knw textbk needs in advance and sme students wait mnths fr their bks. But e-bks can be upladed nt a “blank” laptp in a few hurs.
Cst may eventually be a deciding cause fr chsing e-bks, but here are n big savings yet. Even if they get it electrnically, they still have t pay fr the bk because they’re buying the instructinal material. That may change as mre and mre districts mve twards e-bks.
Tday’s students have little truble adjusting t laptps and e-bks, said Cnnie Cley, wh has taught at the Academy f Irving ISD fr five years. But she said it culd wrry teachers.
“It’s harder fr peple wh are right arund my age and lder.” said Ms. Cley, 36. “I’m laptp-savvy, s I was ready fr it, but thse that aren’t are a little wrrying.
