Rule #1: Subject is Plural
When the subject is PLURAL, the verb is PLURAL

Rule #2: Subjects is cnnected by “r”
When tw singular subjects are cnnected by “r”, the verb is SINGULAR

HINT: It’s singular because the verb is describing ONE subject.
The bk is in the drawer.
Jill likes t climb.
The pen is in the drawer.
Jack likes t climb.
Rule #3: Plural and singular subjects cnnected by “r”
When there is a singular and plural subject cnnected by “r”, the verb agrees with the subject that’s clsest.
Either the by r his parents walk dwn the street.The girls r Jhn dances every Tuesday.
“parents” is clser than “by”. Verb is plural.
“Jhn” is clser than “girls”. Verb is singular.
Rule #4: “Desn’t” and “Dn’t”
Desn’t = DOES + NOT = Singular verbmatch with singular subjectDn’t = DO + NOT = Plural verb match with plural subject

Rule #5: Ignre added phrases.
Dn’t get tricked by all the ther nuns added between the subject and the verb.
