The fingerprint unlock is my favorite. Compared with numeric passwords, it can help me unlock my phone more quickly. I think the pattern unlock is not safe. When you're unlocking your phone, other people might see the pattern and memorize (记住) it. Furthermore, it’s too easy for thieves to break the code.
Student B
My favorite is the fingerprint unlock. Everyone's fingerprint is unique. So I think that’s safer. Some people like to use numbers as their passwords. They often we special numbers, such as birthdates and telephone numbers. I think this is extremely unsafe.
Student C
I think using fingerprints to unlock smart phones is the least secure(可靠的) because fingerprints can be copied using some kinds of technology. I prefer the face unlock. Other people cannot unlock your phone unless you allow them to.
Student D
I prefer the fingerprint unlock, as no two fingerprints in the world are the same. I think the least
secure method is the pattern unlock because too many people use patterns shaped like ''Z'', ''L'', or ''W'',
which are easy to figure out. In the future, I guess there might be a voice unlock. I've hard that everyone
has a unique voice. When you speak your phone will recognize your voice and unlock itself.
41. Which of the following is pattern unlock?
42. Why does student D think the voice unlock is safe?
A. Because everyone's voice is unique.
B. Because it frees people's hands.

I was the typical(典型的) "I can't' child---whatever my mother told or asked me to do was followed by my cry, "I can't." As a result, very few tasks or goals that I set out to achieve were ever completed.
One evening, my mother called me into the family room. "I want you to read this article," Mother began. ''It’s about Marlo Thomas. She tells how a simple poem that she was forced to learn by her father changed her life. She went from saying ‘I can't' to ‘I can'. According to this article, she was able to realize her life and her career by learning the principles (原则) in the poem. "
I took the small magazine from Mother and looked down at the pages. There was Marlo---my hero. Beside her photo was the poem my mother had spoken of, a simple poem named, "I Can". "I want you to remember that poem," Mother said. "Mama," I belly-ached. "I can't learn that poem. It’s too long. "
''It's not too long and you can learn it. I want you to know it perfectly by this time tomorrow," said my mother. Unwillingly, I went back to my bedroom with the magazine. With a heavy heart, I threw myself into the bed and began my task.
"Can't is a word that is the enemy(敌人) to ambition(抱 负), " I began. I repeated the line. I repeated it again and again. I continued until I could proudly remember the poem in my heart the following evening. It has now become my principle. Marlo Thomas did not know me, but her story
forever changed my life.
Saying "I can" helped me to get through the worst moments of my life: Saying "I can" encouraged me to complete things I would otherwise see as out of my reach. A simple poem learned at seven is a poem that will support me to seventy-seven, maybe even longer.

Mark Twain once said that everyone talks about the weather, but no one ever does anything about it. This was true in his day. But it may not be the case in today’s world. In fact humans have found many different ways to control the weather.
Cloud seeding(云催化)is a kind of technology that can control rain. It is done by spreading
chemicals(化学物质) like dry ice or silver iodide(碘化银 ) inside of clouds, either by rocket or airplane. This changes the amount of water inside the cloud, which helps to control the amount of rain, the time when it rains and even where it rains.
This technology has helped to solve droughts(干旱). It has also played a key role during important events. For example, China used cloud seeding in Beijing just before the 2008 Olympic Games in order to stop rain from falling during the event.
However, scientists are still debating(辩论) how to use this technology. On one hand. it is believed that it might have side effects(副作用). For example, silver iodide may be bad for the environment. On the other hand, no two clouds are the same so every new experiment introduces new conditions.
In addition to controlling rain, scientists have also tied to find ways to weaken storms and hurricanes(飓风). Scientists at the US National Hurricane Centre Headquarters think it might be possible to control hurricanes by using lasers(激光). Others believe that burning petroleum (石油) in a hurricane's path could slow the storms down.
83. What is Cloud seeding?
84. Why are scientists still debating how to use Cloud Seeding?
