Step1 Greetings
T: Hello!/ Hi!
Ss: Hello, Miss Chen!/ Hi, Miss Chen!
T: Nice to meet you.
Ss: Nice to meet you, too
T: Today, we are going to learn a new picture book, No bones.
Read the title sometimes.
Step2 Presentation
1. Lead in
Ask the pupils some questions.
(1) Do you know animals?
(2) What does animal mean?
(3) Do you know Animals World?
(4) What is the Animals World?
(5) Have you ever see this TV program?
T: I want to watch this TV program. Let’s watch together, OK? Before we watch it, I have a question: What animals can you see from the video?
Enjoy the video.
Say some animals about the video.
T: Good answers. Animals are our best friends. We saw many animals from the video just now. Look, here they are.
2. Learn some words
T: Look at the screen. Learn some words about the animals.
Eg. bat frog bird fish fly butterfly snail worm
T: Let me classify them. Why do I classify them this way?
S1: Flying animals are one of them.
S2: Sea animals are a group.
S3: These animals can swim.
S4: Reptiles are a group.
S5: Beneficial insects are one of them.
S6: Injurious insects of another.
T: You all had great answers. Now, please listen to me. In fact, these animals all have bones. And these animals have no bones.
3. Learn the book
(1) Show a bone
T: Look, this is a bone. Read after me. (Bb)Which animals do you know that have bones?
S1: Dog.
S2: Cat.
T: Yes, they all have bones. Some animals have bones, but others have no bones. Let’s learn it one by one.
(2) butterfly
T: This is a butterfly. It has no bones.(Bb) The butterflies like flowers very much.
(3) worm
T: Next animal likes the soil very much. It usually lives in the soil. Let’s guess. What is it? Look at the worm.
(4) slug
T: Look at the screen. Have you ever seen an animal? Let’s watch the video.

(5) snail
T: Look, this is a snail. Read after me. What is the difference between a slug and a snail?
S1: Snails have a shell on its back.
T: Yes, so the slug moves fast, but the snail moves slowly, because it has a shell on its back. What is the similarities between a slug and a snail?
S1: They all have tentacles.
S2: They are reptiles.

S1: 水母。

T: Listen carefully, what animal is it?
S1: Fly.

(8) Read carefully

(10) Work in groups
T: Four students work in a group. Try to retell this book.
(11) Look and tick

Step3 Extend
Talk about the other animals that have no bones.
T: The animals in this book don’t have bones. Who are they?
Have a review.
T: Do you know any other animals that have no bones?
S1: Ant.
S2: Centipde.
S3: Octopus.
S4: Cuttlefish.
S5: Bee.
T: So many good answers. Look, a bee. Can you use this structures to say it?
Ss: This is a bee. No bones.
Step4 Summary
Ask the pupils some questions.
(1) Do you have bones?
(2) Why do we have bones?
T: Some animals have bones, some animals have no bones. What about you? Do you have bones? The answer is yes. We all have bones. For example we have head bones, neck bones…and so on. Human bones are to support the body, if there is no bones, people would be paralyzed. Bones also have hematopoietic functions. Now, here is an interesting video. Let’s enjoy it.

After lesson reflection:
我所执教的是外语教学与研究出版社出版的科林英语一年级《 No bones 》一课。在执教结束后,我进行了深刻的反思。从整体而言,教学设计符合一年级学生的学情,学生较成功地完成了教学任务。学生通过学习,掌握这些动物的英文表达,懂得区分有骨头的动物和无骨头的动物,会用英语介绍这是某种动物,以及它是否有骨头,培养学生热爱动物的思想感情,并引导学生在生活中要学会保护好自己。
本节课也存在许多不足之处:第一,课堂教学中教师掌控的太多,应该把课堂还给学生,可以多让学生说一说;第二,对于分级阅读教材中给出的问题运用的太少,应注意吃透教材,用好教材这一问题。
通过这次教学展示,我受益匪浅。今后的教学中,我应该注重培养学生的创新能力和发散性思维。从自身方面,我应该提高自己的教学素养,提高自己的英语语言表达能力:多看,多听,多学,多练。认真学习和钻研教材,虚心向其他老师请教,在反思中完善自我。
