Warner Bros.'s Wonder Woman 1984 , the only big movie still scheduled to be released发行in theaters this year, will come out on AT&T Inc.'s HBO Max the same day it appears in cinemas, an unusual approach that shows how much the coronavirus pandemic疫情has affected Hollywood.

The film will appear in the U. S. theaters and HBO Max on Dec. 25, nine days after it starts appearing at cinemas in international markets , Warner Bros, said in a statement Wednesday. HBO Max subscribers will have a month to see the movie at no additional cost.

The film's director, Patty Jenkins, confirmed the move earlier in a tweet, saying that fans should see the movie in theaters if it's safe to do so --- otherwise, they can enjoy it at home.

Releasing a would-be hit like Wonder Woman 1984 to home and theater audiences meanwhile would have been unthinkable earlier this year, and for decades before that. However, the pandemic has made it impossible for studios to generate the kind of returns at the box office they need to recover their investments in big films. Cinemas in two of the biggest moviegoing markets in the US - Los Angeles and New York City - are closed entirely.

Against this background, several major movies from other studios were shown online this year, including Walt Disney Co.’s Mulan, The studios have been typically charging about $ 20 to see those films at home. Wonder Woman 1984 won't have an extra fee, but it will require fans to sign up for HBO Max, which costs $ 15 a month.

Under any other set of circumstances, a change like this would be decried by theater owners, who have long enjoyed the right to exclusively show new hit films for two or three months. However, they've been struck by the effects of the coronavirus. Most cinemas have been closed for portions of 2020 and those that have reopened don't have many new movies to show. Most big films have been delayed until 2021.

    24. What makes the movie Wonder Woman 1984 different from other movies released this year?

    A. The time it will be on show.       B. The approach of releasing.

    C. High expectation from audience. D. The theaters where it will be released.

    25. What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about?

    A. The tough challenges studios have to face.

    B. Ways for film industry to recover from the pandemic.

    C. The possible success of the movie Wonder Woman 1984.

    D. The influence the pandemic has had on film industry.

    26. What does the underlined word “decried” in Paragraph 6 probably mean?

    A. Appreciated.       B. Valued.     C. Accused.     D. Commented.

    27. Where does this text probably come from?

    A. A movie advertisement.          B. A film review.

      C. A news report.                   D. A hit fiction.

    C

There are nearly 2,800 working satellites in space, which we depend on for technology we use every day, such as video calls, online maps, satellite TV, and weather tracking. Scientists use them to study space and learn more about our planet.

But there are many other satellites in orbit that are no longer working. They're among the objects messing up space. Some of these eventually fall back toward Earth, either landing or burning up in the atmosphere. But much of this space junk circles Earth for years. Space junk is a problem. Debris (残骸) floating around Earth puts technology and future space tasks at risk. Experts are working on ways to solve it.

Orbital debris, a type of space junk, is any human-made object that has stopped working but continues to float around the Earth. This includes satellites that are no longer used and pieces of spacecraft, such as rocket stages. It has been a large problem since the 1960s.

Space junk also includes broken pieces of objects. These occur when satellites hit against things. They also result from an object crashing into an old rocket stage that still contains fuel, causing an explosion . There have been more than 250 space explosions since the 1960s. These tiny broken pieces can damage working satellites, which can affect research in space.

Companies all over the world are working to clean up the area surrounding our planet. A company based in Japan will test the method of using magnets (磁石) to collect space debris. Another mission is led by a company based in Switzerland. It plans to carry out a debris-removal spacecraft in 2025. The craft will get hold of a piece of an old rocket, slow it down, and move it back to Earth. Eventually, the debris will burn out like a shooting star.

Governments are trying to help too. Some are updating their country's space guidelines to limit the amount of debis created. Space is so large that the problem won't be solved by a single organization or a single country. We have to work on this together.

    1. What is the biggest harm that space junk does to human beings?

AIt will fall back toward the Earth.        BIt puts other space objects in danger.

CIt circles the Earth for years.             DIt will burn up in the atmosphere.

    29. How will the Swiss company clean up the Earth orbit?

ABy collecting space junk with magnets.        B. By sending space junk into deep space.

CBy making the orbital debris fall back to Earth.   DBy putting the pieces all together.

    30. What does the author suggest on cleaning up space junk?

    AGlobal efforts.                     BStrict laws.

CStopping in space exploration.         DSetting up professional organizations.

    31. What does the text mainly talk about?

AEarth and its satellites.             BThe various uses of man-made satellites.

CWays of cleaning up space junk.     DThe problem of space junk.

Bird pattern carved on Yubi in Chinese, comes alive and circles around, while an audio guide introduces the cultural relic and the bird’s connotation (寓意). Such is the experience of watching a cultural relic through a pair of augmented reality (AR) (增强现实技术) glasses at the Liangzhu Museum.

The museum displays various burial objects found in the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City in Hangzhou, showcasing the civilization of prehistoric rice agriculture and a state-level society between 3,300 B.C. and 2,300 B.C. The site was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2019, providing profound and compelling evidence that Chinese civilization started 5,000 years ago.

Using AR to tell Liangzhu’s ancient story and let the young people sense and feel close to cultural relics through modern technology is an important task at the museum, making it a pioneer in using modern technology and a hot place for tourists.

“I found that most students were very curious about it, and it could inspire students to have the desire to learn more,” said Chen Xi, the AR glasses provider. “I’ve never seen this before. The illustration of the ancient wild birds above is not that clear. But with the AR glasses, I know what the ancient wild bird exactly looks like and how it is different from what we see on TV,” said Rong Mei, a visitor in her twenties. “Compared with traditional ways of appreciating a cultural relic, AR glasses guide has virtual images which help people visually understand the information behind the relic, such as in which life scenarios was the relic used, its function and its cultural connotation,” said Zhou Liming, director of the Liangzhu Museum.

From digitalization to intelligentization (智能化), the Liangzhu Museum took more than five years. It started to collect the digital information of the ruins and relics since 2015. It paves the way for the museum to deliver Liangzhu’s story through multimedia approaches to attract more people, especially the youth, as modern technology bridges the gap between young people and cultural relics.

    32. What is the essential significance of Liangzhu cultural relics?

    A. Unearthing various prehistoric burial objects.

    B. Representing the world’s earliest rice culture.

    C. Enriching the UNESCO World Heritage List.

    D. Confirming China’s 5,000-year-old civilization.

    33. Why does the writer use the three quotes in Paragraph 4?

    A. To inspire the curiosity of students.

    B. To highlight hi-tech brings people close to cultural relics.

    C. To show the aim and effects of using AR glasses.

    D. To present opinions of appreciating cultural relics vary.

    34. What does the underlined “It” in the last paragraph refer to?

    A. The process of forming intelligentization.

    B. The restoration of the ruins and relics.

    C. .The discovery of the cultural relics.

    D. The reconstruction of the Liangzhu Museum.

    35. Which might be the best title for the text?

    A. Stories behind the AR Glasses

    B. A New Chapter for Liangzhu Museum

    C. Adventures in Liangzhu Museum

    D. An Encounter with the Prehistoric China

    第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)

    阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项.选项中有两项 为多余选项。

Reading books can exercise your brain. Kids who started reading at an earlier age go on to perform better on certain intelligence tests, such as analyses of their vocabulary size. As one gets older, it might help slow down or even stop cognitive认知的decline (下降).    36   Many Americans don't read frequently. It's time to reverse this trend to give your brain gray matter a good workout.

37    When you have some down time—you're waiting for a friend, sleeping lightly on the way from or to work, or doing a task that doesn't require your full attention—you can open your text instead of pulling up your favorite smartphone game.    38    While paper is still the clear winner in the court of public opinion, science hasn't proven that physical books are better than digital ones.

Academic research has mostly focused on the ability to remember. A study took place in a laboratory setting: Students all read the same text, but some looked at the words on paper and others viewed an on-screen PDF. It turned out that no meaningful difference between the two media existed. As for audiobooks有声读物,they affected the brain gray matter somewhat differently.    39

Ultimately, if you hope to get a reading habit going, you shouldn't dismiss paper digital, or audio.     40     Don't be afraid to change things up depending on the occasion.

    A. Audiobooks still affect your thoughts and feelings.

    B. However, they stimulated the brain just as deeply as black-and-white pages.

    C. Words on a page can improve the emotional intelligence.

    D. This brings about a great debate : pages vs screens vs audio.

    E. Keep a book, e-reader, or audiobook app on you as you go about the day.

    F. Despite this, the overall book-reading time for Americans is on the decline.

    G. Go with what makes the most sense for your needs.

    第二节(满分25)

    阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文.

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie. It’s hard to imagine that the other woman was my mother, who has been living alone for 19 years, but I am too busy to visit her often. That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.

“What’s wrong? Are you well?” she asked. My mother always doubts that a late night call is a sign of bad news.

“It would be pleasant to spend some time with you,” I responded.

As I drove over to pick her up, I noticed that she seemed to be nervous about our date. But she smiled from a face that was as beautiful as an angel’s. “I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed,” she said.

We went to a restaurant that was very nice and comfortable. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. I saw mom sitting there looking at me with a smile on her lips.

“I used to have to read the menu when you were small,” she said. “Then it’s time to let me return the favour,” I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation-nothing special but catching up on recent events. We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said, “I’ll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you.” I agreed.

    注意:续写词数应为150左右。

When I got home, my wife shared her story about her mom who passed away years ago.

Several days later, I received my mother’s invitation.

    第二节  作文续写:

When I got home, my wife shared her story about her mom who passed away years ago. She said when she was young, she was very naughty, and her mother often punished her for her wrong deeds. Later when she grew up she became aware of her mothers love. But her mother died of lung cancer and she never had a chance to show her gratitude. At that moment I realise the importance of saying love to our beloved ones in time.

Several days later, I received my mothers invitation. We went out for a movie. You cant imagine how happy we were that day. We discussed the movie, laughed and even planned the next date. On the way home, I held my mothers hand, saying to her gently, Nothing is more valuable than the love of you in the world. Believe me, your dear son will return the favour. Mom, I love you. We looked at each other with tears rolling down.
