    【教材分析】
    该板块的活动主题为“描述节日活动”(Describe festival activities)。丰富的节日活动往往会带给人们深刻的印象和不同的感受,无论是在口头表达还是书面表达中,人们对节日活动的描述都与亲历者的情绪交融在一起,而常用来表达人物情绪和感受的典型结构之一便是用作定语或表语的动词-ing形式,这也是本单元要学习的核心结构。单元主题语境与语言结构的契合能够确保语言使用的真实性和合理性,使学生充分感受和理解目标结构,并能自如地使用所学结构进行表达。
    【教学目标】
    1. Able t understand the functin and meaning f the -ing frm as an attribute and a predicate;
    2. Can summarize and accumulate related vcabulary used t express emtins, including -ing frm and past participle;
    3. Read abut La Tmatina, a festival held in the twn f bunl, Spain.
    【教学重难点】
    Imprtance:
    1. Guide students t understand the functin and meaning f the attributive and predicate f the -ing frm in real cntext;
    2. Instruct students t crrectly use the -ing frm t describe different festival activities and persnal feelings.
    Difficulties:
    The use f the -ing frm as attributive and predicative in cntext.
    【课前准备】
    1. Review the basic structure f the -ing frm, find ut the sentences cntaining the -ing frm frm the listening and reading parts, and analyze the functin and meaning f the structure;
    2. Read the cntent f this sectin in advance, understand the new wrds in the text accrding t the cntext, and summarize the wrds that express emtins;
    3. Cmplete the relevant exercises in the guide plan.
    【教学过程】
    Step 1 Revisin
    1. Ss read the three sentences frm Reading text and discuss the meanings and grammatical functins f the italicised -ing frm, and summarizes the usages f the -ing frm as attribute and predicate.
    *These lanterns are amazing.
    *During the Mid-Autumn Festival in China, families gather t admire the shining mn and enjy delicius mncakes.
    *Families celebrating the Lunar New Year can enjy exciting dragn dances and carnivals tgether.
    2. T shares the meanings and functins f the -ing frm in each sentences.
    N.1: The -ing frm is used as a predicate, usually after a tie verb, t indicate what r hw the subject is.
    N.2: The -ing frm is an attribute, usually used t mdify, qualify, r indicate the qualities and characteristics f a nun r prnun.
    N.3: The -ing frm is an attribute which mdifies the preceding nun.
    Step 2 Learning new grammar
    Activity 1
    1. Wrk in pairs t identify sentences frm the unit that cntain the -ing frm as an attribute and a predicate. Explain the cmpsitin and meaning f the -ing frm in each sentence as belw.
    *I think the Ri Carnival wuld be the mst exciting.(表语)
    *It’ll be t tiring t walk r dance fr a lng time in thse shes.(表语)
    *Anther example is Hallween, which slwly became an exciting festival fr children, in spite f its religius rigins.(定语)
    *The first week was a little cnfusing.(表语)
    2. In student activities, the teacher may make necessary supplement.
    Step 3 Practice
    Activity 2
    1. T asks sb. t read the messages (n page 6, Students’ bk) psted by sme exchange students n an Internet frum.
    2. T asks the fllwing questins t guide Ss t fcus n the theme, text features and the cre cntent f each cmment.
    *What are they discussing in the frum? (Which festival is the best?)
    *Hw are the messages arranged? (By time and date.)
    *What festivals are mentined in the discussin? (Ri Carnival, the Spring Festival, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas.)
    Step 4 Summarizing
    1. Students read the nline cmments carefully, find the -ing frm f the verb that is used as an attribute r predicate and underline it. Then check with yur partner.
    2. The teacher asks different students t read the cntent f each pst and say whether the -ing frm is used as an attribute r a predicate.
    Step 5 Reading
    Activity 3
    1. Ss lk at the picture and scan the passage t understand the main idea while teacher is giving the fllwing questins t inspire Ss t think.
    *Where are thse peple?
    *What are they ding?
    *Why are they s excited?
    2. Ss cmplete the passage with the apprpriate -ing frm. Then discuss and check the answers with class.
    Answers: bring, interesting, taking, exciting, amazing
    3. The teacher raises questins fr the students t discuss and encurages them t express their pinins.

    4. Each grup representative reprts the discussin result, the teacher gives feedback and the evaluatin.
    Step 6 Practice
    Activity 4
    1. Ss cmplete the Ex 2 in Using Structures.
    2. Check the answers after finishing the exercises.

    Understand and master the functins and usage f the -ing frm;
