Reading 教案

教学目标:

1. 知识目标

1) 会运用本课时的四会单词。

2) 词组: tell about, thank you for doing, play a game called, dress up,

give sb. sth, play a trick on, on the

evening of October 31st

2.能力目标

1) 借助图片和关键词猜出信的大意。

2) 通过阅读,能具体地了解西方人是如何庆祝万圣节的,并能就此话题进行简单

交际。

教学重难点：

1) 重点: 了解万圣节的具体信息。

2) 难点:用已掌握的信息向他人介绍万圣节。

Step 1. Lead-in

Show a picture about Halloween and ask the students:

Which festival is it? How do people celebrate it? Do you want to know?

Step 2. Presentation

Present the new words with some pictures.

Then read the new words.

Step 3. Fast reading

Read the letter as quickly as you can and tell us who wrote it and who received it?

(It’s from Wendy to Millie.)

Tell them not to read all the letter, just read the beginning and the end.

Step 4. First reading

Let the students read the letter fast and answer the two questions:

(1) When is Halloween?    (It’s on October 31st.)

(2) What costume will Wendy wear?   (A tiger costume.)

Step 4. Second reading

Ask the students to read the article carefully and underline all the things that people do for Halloween in the letter. They can discuss in pairs.

What do people do for Halloween?

(1). The children play a game called “trick or treat” 

(2). They dress up at Halloween.

(3). They make pumpkin lanterns for Halloween.

(4). They have a party on the evening of October 31st.

Step 5. Listening and reading the paragraphs one by one

1. Let the students read the first paragraph after the tape. Then match the words.

     People in the USA        Mid-Autumn Festival

     People in China          Halloween

2. Read the second paragraph and answer the questions:

  (1).What game do children play for Halloween?  (They play a game called”trick or treat”.)

  (2). How do they play the game?     (The children knock on people’s doors and shout “trick or treat”. Usually, they give the children some candy as a treat. If they do not give the children a treat, the children can play a trick on them.)

3. Read the third and fourth paragraph and judge true or false.

  (1). Wendy and her friends always paint their faces at Halloween.     (F)

  (2). People in the USA make lanterns out of oranges     (F)

4. Read the fifth paragraph and fill in the blanks.

  The family always have a party on the evening of October 31st.

It usually starts at about 8 p.m. They eat a lot of special Halloween chocolates and candies

They have hot drinks and  eat lots of nice, hot food. They do not eat mooncakes.

5. Explain some important words and sentences.

(1). On October 31st    在具体的某一天用介词on

(2). On the evening of October 31st  在具体的某一天的早中晚用on

(3). At 8 p.m.    在点钟前面at

(4). Play a game called…   called在这里是过去分词做后置定语。 例如：一个叫做汤姆的男孩 a boy called Tom

(5). Knock on 敲门

(6). Give sb. Sth. 给某人某物

(7). Play a trick on 捉弄某人

(8). Wear special costumes with masks  穿带面具的特殊戏服

(9). At Halloween  在万圣节

(10). People don’t know who we are. 人们不知道我们是谁。这里的who we are 是宾语从句，用陈述句语序。

Step 6. Practise

1. 用适当的介词填空。

2. Learning more about Halloween

(1). Finish Part B1 on page 42.

Step 7. Retell the letter

Ask the students to read the letter and try to retell it with some hints.

Paragraph 1: People celebrate Halloween in the _______.  It is on __________.

Paragraph 3: dress up, wear, costumes, masks, paint, tiger costume

Step 8. Summary

这节课我们阅读了一封关于万圣节的信，对万圣节有了更深入的了解。知道了万圣节是什么时间，西方人是如何庆祝万圣节的。学完这节课要会用所学的语言点向你的朋友介绍万圣节.

Step 9. Homework

1. Revise the new words and phrases
2. Read the passage and try to retell it
