B(2020·青岛高三期末) Peple back in the United States are always asking me, “What’s it like t live in China?” They hpe t hear strange stries abut weird fd and cultural cnflicts. Instead, I tell them that living in China is like being a baby. Please dn’t misunderstand me. I dn’t think that Chinese peple are babies. I am a baby. Or at least, I becme ne when I leave my huse. That’s because babies can’t read, and when I leave my huse in Beijing, I’m illiterate(不识字的).
This can be dangerus. If a sign says, “Watch ut fr big angry bears, ” in Chinese, I will cntinue walking, cmpletely ignrant f my peril (危险). Then a bear will eat me fr breakfast. I have started t recgnize a few characters, but they seem impssible t ever learn withut a lifetime f study. When I see a character I like, I give it a name. There is “The Square, ”“The Octpus(章鱼) , ”“The-upside-dwn Octpus, ” and my favrite, “Upside-dwn Octpus n an airplane. ” Hwever, I still dn’t knw their sunds r meanings. They are just beautiful mysteries t my eyes.
Because I can’t read, city streets present an endless series f enigmas. If I see a business, I wnder, “Is that a restaurant? A dentist? A lawyer’s ffice?” Once, while hungry, I saw a big clrful sign. I walked in and asked a realtr (房屋中介) t see the drink menu. Speaking f menus, eating at restaurant is a daily misadventure. Many places have phts f fd, which is helpful. But if they have n phts, I walk frm table t table and pint at whatever lks delicius. I aplgize if I’ve ever interrupted yur dinner t pint at yur plate. I didn’t mean t be rude. I was just a hungry baby!【文章大意】本文是一篇记叙文。
    4. Why des the authr think living in China is like being a baby?A. Sme Chinese peple behave like babies. B. It’s cmfrtable t be a baby in China. C. He is as curius as a baby abut Chinese things. D. He is like a new-brn wh can’t read at all. That’s because babies can’t read, and when I leave my huse in Beijing, I’m illiterate.

    6. In Paragraph 5, what des the underlined wrd “enigmas” mean?A. Stries. B. Miracles. C. Chices. D. Puzzles. If I see a business, I wnder, “Is that a restaurant? A dentist? A lawyer’s ffice?” Because I can’t read, city streets present an endless series f enigmas.
    7. What is the passage mainly abut?A. The authr’s lve fr Chinese fd. B. The language barrier the authr meets in China. C. Cultural cnflicts the authr faces in China. D. Hw the authr vercmes difficulties in learning Chinese. I tell them that living in China is like being a baby.
C(2020·菏泽模拟) Recent years have witnessed the grwth f luxury(奢侈品) brands. It’s clear that a new generatin f yung, materialistic peple is increasingly relying n luxury brands t imprve its self-image. I am a fashinista t, at least in spirit —I lve t lk at clthes and shes. But I dn’t understand why peple spend lts f mney n designer labels. When a yung wman buys a handbag that csts tw mnths f her salary, that’s a scary thing.
What’s interesting is that scientists have fund that having luxury things desn’t lead t happiness. Study after study has shwn that althugh we want material things, when we get them we dn’t suddenly becme “happy” peple. In fact, a series f studies have shwn that individuals wh spend mney n travel and similar experiences get mre pleasure than thse n material things. That’s because experiences are mre easily integrated int a persn’s identity. If I travel t Yunnan, that adventure affects hw I think in the future. My memries becme a part f me. Mrever, as Van Bven has bserved, yung peple wh pursue happiness thrugh “things” are liked less by their peers. Peple prefer thse wh pursue happiness thrugh experiences.
It’s natural t want t express yurself thrugh yur appearance. S my advice is: create a lk that isn’t tied t a designer label. Cnvey yur wn message. Take sme lessns frm the late Apple c-funder Steve Jbs. He was always in Levis jeans and a black turtleneck. Mark Zuckerberg, funder f Facebk, rutinely appears in hdies and sneakers. These peple, successful peple, have style. Yu dn’t have t break the bank t send a message abut wh yu are. Take a trip. G ut int the wrld. Then cme back and cnfidently create yur wn signature lk.
    8. What’s the authr’s attitude twards luxury cnsumptin?A. Favrable. B. Negative. C. Psitive. D. Uncncerned. But I dn’t understand why peple spend lts f mney n designer labels. When a yung wman buys a handbag that csts tw mnths f her salary, that’s a scary thing.
    9. What’s the main idea f the furth paragraph?A. Material things can’t bring abut jy. B. Experiences sink int persnality. C. It’s better t invest in experiences. D. Others’ preference is f imprtance.
    10. Why are Steve Jbs and Mark Zuckerberg mentined in the text?A. T hnr the tw successes. B. T advcate their experience. C. T supprt the authr’s argument. D. T inspire yung peple’s ambitin.
    11. What is the underlined sentence intended t express?A. D mind yur financial security. B. D try t make mre mney. C. Dn’t rb a bank fr luxuries. D. Dn’t spend much n yur image. When a yung wman buys a handbag that csts tw mnths f her salary, that’s a scary thing. Take a trip. G ut int the wrld. Then cme back and cnfidently create yur wn signature lk.
D Cntrary t ppular belief, when a persn makes a mistake while learning, it imprves their memry fr the right infrmatin, but nly if the errr is clse t the crrect answer, accrding t their recent findings made by Baycrest researchers.

Researchers fund that peple were better able t think f the crrect translatins f Spanish wrds that were similar t the English wrds. They had greater difficulty retrieving the meaning f wrds that lk misleading. “Our research fund evidence that mistakes that are a ‘near miss’ can help a persn learn the infrmatin better than if n errrs are made at all, ” says Dr. Nicle Andersn. “These types f errrs can serve as stepping stnes t remembering the right answer. But if the errr made is a wild guess and ut in left field, then a persn desn’t learn the crrect infrmatin easily. ”
“Based n these findings, smene studying fr an exam shuld nly take practice quizzes after reviewing the materials, ” says Dr. Andersn. “If a persn takes a practice test and is unfamiliar with the cntent, they risk making guesses that are nwhere near the right answer. This culd make it harder fr them t learn the crrect infrmatin later. ”
“Even if a persn makes a mistake while testing themselves, as lng as their errr is clse t the right answer, they’re mre likely t remember the right infrmatin, ” adds Dr. Andersn.
    12. What d we knw abut the subjects in the recent study?A. They have a gd memry fr new wrds. B. They knw nthing abut any freign language. C. They get answers by making wild guesses in the test. D. They need t translate Spanish wrds int English nes. 根据文章第二段“They asked 32 yung adults with n Spanish backgrund t guess the English definitins f certain Spanish wrds.
    13. What des the underlined wrd “retrieving” in Paragraph 3 mean?A. Guessing. B. Remembering. C. Distinguishing. D. Understanding. 根据文章第三段“Researchers fund that peple were better able t think f the crrect translatins f Spanish wrds that were similar t the English wrds.
    14. Which f the fllwing reflects Dr. Andersn’s pinin?A. Errrs f certain kind are likely t help with learning. B. It is rewarding t make wild guesses during learning. C. Taking practice tests befre exams is an unwise practice. D. It is hard t make “near miss” types f errrs during learning. 【解析】选A。 根据第四段“Our research fund evidence that mistakes that are a ‘near miss’ can help a persn learn the infrmatin better than if n errrs are made at all.
    15. What can be the best title fr the passage?A. The Art f Making MistakesB. The Way f Imprving MemryC. Gd Guesses While Learning Matter a LtD. Making Mistakes May Bring Unexpected Benefits【解析】选D。
