    Thompson Strawberry Farm
The Thompson family has been growing strawberries for over 70 years. We have been a “Pick-Your-Own” farm for 50 years. Scott Thompson is the 4th generation of Thompson to grow strawberries. During the peak(高峰时刻) of the “Pick-Your-Own”, our family grew 150 acres(公顷)of strawberries. Our farm is located just east of The Club at Strawberry Creek Golf Course. The season usually starts about mid-June and usually we pick at least through July 4th. We are more than just strawberries though. We also have tomatoes, pumpkins and other vegetables!
Always check “Today on the Farm” the day you come to the farm. Weather and crowds can change the quantity of berries . Come out and pick your own strawberries! When you arrive at the farm, you will follow the signs to the pre-picked strawberry stand. An employee will direct you, from the stand to the strawberry field, where you can park. The field will always have employees available to answer questions. We supply the baskets for you to pick the berries and take them home in. When you are done picking, you will move to the checkout stand to pay for the baskets that you have picked.

I often felt jealous (嫉妒)of my little sister,Arlene. All this was because she had always been very close to Mother.
I'd tried in so many ways to show Mother I loved her, too. On birthdays and holidays,I took her flowers and gifts, with an “I love you” card. However, whenever I visited, our conversations seemed to centre on my sister.Arlene was so thoughtful and kind...I was really angry and wondered if Arlene was Mother's favorite.
Mother had a beautiful locket(吊坠)given to her by her mother.I liked it very much and was delighted when Mother said she would send it to me some day. However, she never gave it to me.After she died,I asked my father about the locket. He searched through all her jewelry boxes, but never found it.
I was very disappointed. Why hadn't Mother kept her word?Could she have given the locket to my sister instead?I was almost sure she had. With the locket still in my mind,I had to be satisfied with what Mother had left me—a set of dishes. There was a pretty teapot and a set of cups decorated with red roses. They were quite fragile(易碎的),so I decided to put them away.
First,I needed to clean them.I carefully washed the cups and dried them. But as I got the teapot and started to wash it,I heard a jingle. When I opened the pot, there inside was Grandmother's locket!
I was overjoyed. But things got even better—there was also a note.“I did not forget,”the note read.“I love you very much!”When I read those words,I felt all the pain and jealousy of years were washed away by my tears. My mother had loved me after all.“I love you too,Mother .” I whispered.

A café owner has defended her decision to write a Facebook post stating “No, we are not child-friendly,” saying it breaks her heart when children damage her possessions.
On Monday, the Little French Café in Newcastle, Australia, posted an announcement on their Facebook page: “Are we child-friendly? If you are looking for a café with a children's menu, a play area, vast space for your baby carriages, an area for your children to run around, and annoy other customers, while you are unaware of them-then the short message is ‘No, we are not child-friendly.’ However, if you would like to bring your children here and they are happy to sit at a table with you and behave properly, please come in. Otherwise, there are plenty of places that are specially designed to entertain your children.”
Some Facebook users called the post “arrogant (傲慢的)” and an “attack on parents”, The Newcastle Herald reports. The café owner responded with this statement: “I build the café myself. It has my blood, sweat and plenty of tears in it.”
The post came about after the café owner was asked by a customer, who had left a one-star review on the café’s business page, about whether the café was child-friendly. Ms Kotz told news that she wrote the bad review because she felt the café's staff reacted negatively towards children at the café.
Although the café's policy has attracted a lot of criticism, most people who commented on the Café's Facebook page stood by the owner. One woman named Lesley wrote, “I don't think there was anything wrong with what you said by any means. If parents want to take their children to your café, they need to be responsible for their behavior.”
    28. What is the text mainly about?
    A. An Australian café’s policy on children.
    B. A Facebook post about parents’ dinning manners.
    C. The protection of the customers’ basic rights.
    D. The relationship between staff and customers.
    29. Which of the following is permitted according to the café owner’s post?
    A. Parents taking children with good manners
    B. Children entertaining themselves in the café.
    C. Children running around their own carriages.
    D. Parents taking bad-behaved kids to the café.
    30. The café owner wrote the post _____.
    A. after a kid damaged her possessions
    B. in order to improve the efficiency(效率)of the café
    C. in response to a customer’s question
    D. after the café was criticized by some Facebook users
    31. What did Lesley think of the café owner’s action?
    A. It was quite understandable B. It was sightly rude
    C. It was highly thoughtful. D. It was a little unfair.
    D
How many phone numbers can you remember by heart? It’s probably fewer than you would like. Actually, you’re not alone. Out of more than 1,000 Americans who were surveyed, more than half said that they couldn’t recall the phone numbers of their friends and neighbors. And 44% said that they couldn’t remember their relatives’ phone numbers. In their eyes, there is no point in filling their heads with phone numbers if they’re all stored in smart phones that are with them almost all the time.
In fact, most people are suffering from a sort of digital amnesia(失忆). More than 90% of those surveyed agreed that they used the Internet as an online extension of their brains. Rote memorization(死记硬背) was once an important part of modern education, but we just need a click or slide now. That’s making us worse at remembering things.
Researchers found that when people expected to have access to information online, they were less likely to remember actual facts, but more likely to remember how to find them. As a result, we are already becoming one with our computer tools, growing into interconnected systems that remember less by knowing information than by knowing where the information can be found.
However, some believe it isn’t necessarily a bad thing—maybe it gives them more chances to think through things. We certainly have access to more knowledge now than ever, even if it isn’t all stored in our brains.
Even so, I still believe that there are more risks to this new world of memory beyond losing our ability to recall some information such as who the 15th President was. That kind of information may always be a click away, but the important things are personal ones, like the way your parents smiled at your wedding. It’s harder to recall or find online. If you’re relying on yourself to keep track of those memories, they will be much more meaningful.
    32. Paragraph 1 is mainly used to________.
    A. lead in the topic of the passage B. attract readers’ attention
    C. explain new research D .serve as the background
    33. What’s the main cause of people’s suffering from digital amnesia?
    A. Heavily depending on the Internet . B. Seldom thinking about questions.
    C. Getting older and older D. The changes of their memories.
    34. What can be learned from the text?
    A. Over 90% people are suffering from digital amnesia.
    B. Sometimes rote memorization is also necessary in modern life.
    C. People can gain knowledge more difficultly than before.
    D. People find it hard to remember how to find information
    35. What’s the author’s attitude towards people’s memories now?
    A. Satisfied. B. Positive. C.Indifferent D. Concerned.
