There is a popular Chinese saying that "Fair skin will make up for three flaws (缺点)". This mentions the fact that in Chinese culture, it is believed that people who have fair skin are more beautiful. In Western culture, however, the opposite is true-many Westerners think tanned skin is prettier. The example shows that different cultures have different ideas of what they think is beautiful. These cultural meanings of beauty, however, are no longer important. As more and more people travel overseas, ideas about beauty are being shared among cultures. The Internet has also made it easier for people to share different types of beauty since people are always posting pictures on social media. The result is an ever-changing idea of what is considered beautiful.
The cultural practice of ear piercings, for example, has become a part of modern day culture. In Kenya, it is a tradition among the Masai men and women to pierce and then make their ear lobes(耳垂)longer using ivory and wood or stones. They then wear colorful things on their ear lobes. This is a common practice since longer ear lobes are seen as a sign of beauty. This tradition has now found its way into present-day culture. Nowadays, this might till seem unusual to some, but with more and more well-known actors and film stars showing off their longer ear lobes. It will finally become more fashionable.
It is understood that different cultures around the world have different ways of showing beauty. However, since we now live in a worldwide society, people's views about beauty are always changing. With the help of the Internet, people are now able to easily borrow ideas from other cultures to help them stand out. So what new fashions can we expect to see in the future?
12. What has made it easier for people to share ideas about beauty?
A. The development of technology. B. The unchanged cultural traditions.
C. The popularity of the latest fashions. D. The world's growing population.
13. The underlined word "pierce" in Para graph 2 means ________________.
A. make sth. longer B. borrow ideas
C. wear things D. make a hole
14. What can be learned about the Masai people from the passage?
A. Longer ear lobes are their new fashion.
B. They think longer ear lobes look beautiful.
C. Only women make their ear lobes longer.
D. They make actors and film stars famous.
15. What is the passage mainly about?
A. People in Asian countries like fair skin better.
B. Different cultures have different ideas about beauty.
C. People's ideas about beauty are changing all the time.
D. Beauty is considered important in many cultures.

第一节 阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分, 满分10分)
阅读下面短文, 完成短文后的问题。
It's important to learn things about protecting environment. Here's a 4Rs rule for us.
·Reduce
If you want to reduce waste, you should use things wisely. A large number of trees are being cut down to make paper. If everyone uses paper carelessly and then throws it away, soon we would not have any trees left. Some other things are also being wasted, and people don't know what to do with waste in big cities, so it's necessary to reduce waste.
·Reuse
You should always think of reusing the things before throwing them away. Give your clothes or things you don't use to the poor. In a family, you may pass such clothes on to your younger brothers or sisters.
·Recycle
Bottles, cans and paper can easily be recycled. By doing so we save lots of time and money, for example, cola cans are sent to a factory, where they're smashed flat (压平)and smelted(熔化), and the metal things are made into new cola cans.
·Repair
If one of the legs of your table is broken, you'd better repair it rather than throw it away. If you want to change for better ones, it's better for you to sell the old ones or give them to other people who can use them after doing some repair.
41. What does the "Reduce" rule mainly require us to do?
42. In a family, what should you do with the old clothes?
43. What's the right order(正确顺序)of recycling cola cans?(只写序号)
A. smash them flat B. collect the used cans C. smelt them D. send them to a factory
