      ☆答题事项:应迅速找到并且定位到考点,不可望文生义和主观臆断。
    ☆干扰选项:一般与文中观点相反,不符,未涉及,特征是无中生有,张冠李戴,以偏概全,扩大内容。
    解题技巧:
    通读短文,领会文章大意,理解文章结构层次及细节,特别注意:
    (1)五个W (who , which , when , where , what )和一个H( how );
    (2)数字、日期、时间等;
    (3)注意加强语气的词,排除不符合原文细节的选项,剩下的就是最佳答案。

    细节理解类:
One of the most popular items in the school newspaper is the advice column. Here are some of the questions asked and their answers......
Q : I find it difficult to make friends . What do you think I should do ? Sara.
A : I can't advise you until I know more about you . Your problem may be that you are shy. On the other hand , it may be the opposite. You may be too bold. Write and tell me more about yourself.
    1. Which of the following statements about Sara is right ?
A.Sara is very shy. B. Sara is quite bold.
    C.Sara has too many friends . D . Sara doesn't receive suggestions.

根据原文原句“Your problem may be that you are shy.”,和“You may be too bold.”,很多学生会直接选择A或者B。

     此题要求考生正确理解短文中的一些关键词语或句子的含义,常用的方法是多种表达法、一词多义法、同义近义或反义提示法、习语释文法及句型转换法等。
    解题技巧:
    (1)正确理解题意,从短文中找到相关的词、短语或句子,根据特定的语境来判断理解,推敲斟酌和最后确定其准确含义。
    (2)根据上下文猜测词义的技巧:
    ①注意定义和解释;
    ②同义词或近义词的提示;
    ③近义词和反义词的提示;
    ④利用悬念的属种关系;
    ⑤借助已有知识或生活常识。

    词句猜测类:
Another idea I liked was an invention by a scientist who thought his children watched too much TV. He linked to TV to an exercise bike so that the electricity to power the TV was generated by the bike. If the children wanted to watch a lot of TV, they had to ride very hard.
    1. The word “generated” (in para 2, line 6) most probably means” ________”.
    A. stored B. produced C. invented D. transported
根据原文“the electricity to power the TV was generated by the bike.”,同时结合问题,可以猜测出答案是B。

Every term, my school throws a "reward night" party. It is to make the students relax. It’s held in the cafeteria from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
Then I began to pay attention to the music. I had never heard a school play popular music in school! We were there for about an hour. But I began to get hungry. There were slices of pizza for sale, but I didn't want to borrow any more money. Even though it had been a really good party, I knew it was time to leave.
    1. The writer may leave the party______.
    A. at 6:30 pm B. at 8:00 pm C. at 7:30 pm D. at 7:00 pm
根据原文原句“It’s held in the cafeteria from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.”,很多学生会直接选择B。但是根据原文中原句“We were there for about an hour.”和 “I knew it was time to leave. ”进行推断,可以得知正确答案应该是选C。

      4. 主旨大意题(Best title)
(Main Idea)
Example 1:These two passages are _____________.
    A. diaries B. reports C. news D. ads
(Title)
Example 2:What would the best title for the passage?
    A. Good Health B. The Old People in the Mountains
    C. Long-lived People D. The Secret of Long Life
(Purpose)
Example 3:The author's purpose in writing this passage is to________.
A.call on people to reject e-books
B.draw people’s attention to the disadvantages of e-books
C.criticize schools and business that don’t provide e-books
    D.encourage people to use e-books

The last thing I kiss every night is her face.
My mama is the very best one,
    And sings like a bird,
    And knows how I feel.
    When I don’t say a word,
    My mama is warm.

    I can set the table.
    I can sweep the floor.
    I can wash my clothes.
    And count to forty-four.

A.How did the judge solve the student’s problem?
B.(The judge solved the problem) By making the restaurant owner hear the sound of the falling coins.

    2. 用where/when提问,要以介词in/ on/ at等开头。
    A.Where did the student live?
    B.In a small room near a restaurant.

A.When did Eppie Lederer begin to write an advice column for the Chicago Sun Times?
B.In 1955. (or: After she won a contest.)

When did you come to Shanghai?
    ①在2012年→In 2012.
Two years ago.
When I was a boy.

    3. 用how many提问,要注意数字前是否有限定词more than/ at least/about等。
A.How many readers do the two columns have?
B.Nearly 200 million readers (around the world).

    4. 用why提问,要以because(of) 开头回答, 或者以To do开头回答。
A.Why did the student feel afraid?
B.Because the judge said he was wrong / he had only a few coins/ he had no money.

A.Why did Lederer ask her readers to write letters to The U.S. Congress?
B.To make them pass the law.

A.Whom did Sam live with in the Wild Catskill Mountains?
    B.He lived with himself.
A.How long have you stayed in Shanghai? B. For 3 years.
    B. How long did it take you to go to school by bus? B. 3 hours.

A.How was the food in the restaurant?
    B.The food was delicious/good.

Example 1. Both Eppie Lederer and Pauline Phillip love their jobs, don’t they?
Example 2. Both Eppie Lederer and Pauline Phillip don’t love their jobs, do they?

Based on her speaking, how do we stay young, to laugh or to cry?
We stay young to laugh.

A.As a teenager, will you run away from home? Why?
B.Because this was just the kind of forest he always dreamed about.

But this does not mean that bookstores are losing their customers. To lure more readers, bookstores are now bigger, more beautiful and grander. Here are some of them.
    Zhongshuge
Walking into a Zhongshuge bookstore is like entering a sea of books, above the ceiling overhead, beneath the floor under your feet, on the walls, and under the steps of the staircases. Zhongshuge is known for its beautiful designs. The brand now has chains in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Yangzhou.

The Paradise Time Travel Bookstore is located near the Princess Wencheng Theater in Lhasa(拉萨).
    Poplar Kid’s Republic
The Poplar Kid’s Republic, sitting in Beijing’s CBD area, is a fairyland of picture books for children.
The bookshop was selected among one of the most beautiful bookshops in the world by Flavorwire, a popular US news website about art and culture, in 2012.
The colorful designs inside are aimed at encouraging kids to explore books. Pushing the glass doors open, you will see children’s drawings and craftworks(工艺) hanging on the pink walls, leading you into a world full of imagination.

    A. Choose the best answer
Cruises are becoming more and more popular, with around 20 million passengers per year now enjoying holidays on board luxury(奢侈的) ships. More people see a cruise as the perfect way to sit back and do nothing, and enjoy time off work. But what is the effect on the environment of this trend?
Although it usually takes less energy for a vehicle to move through water than over land, cruise ships are often massive, with the biggest ones carrying up to 6,000 passengers. Moving such large vehicles requires huge engines which burn as much as 300,000 litres of fuel a day. One scientist has calculated that cruise ships create as much pollution as 5 million cars going over the same distance. Because they are out at sea, they also burn dirtier fuel that isn’t allowed on land. Unfortunately, no government has control over the amount of air pollution out at sea.
Cruises also produce huge amounts of rubbish, and cruise ships aren’t usually good at recycling. Waste water from showers and toilets is usually poured directly into the sea – as much per day as from a small town. Waste food from restaurants isn’t put into the sea, but still causes problems when brought back to the land.
Cruise ships also cause difficulties in the cities where they stop. Popular destinations can get five or six ships per day, with thousands of tourists at a time. Good for restaurants? No. Restaurant owners complain that the visitors look around for a few hours and then return to their ship to eat. What’s more, the crowds can put off other tourists, who complain that the streets are too busy. Some towns have banned(禁止)cruise ships or put a limit on the number that can stop at the same time. People who care about the environment worry that as the cruise industry continues to grow, so too will the issues for our planet.
    69. The underlined word “trend” is closest in meaning to ________.
    A) problem B) event C) decision D) change
    70. The biggest cruise can hold about ________ passengers.
    A) 20,000,000 B) 6,000 C) 300,000 D) 5,000,000
    71. Cruise ships cause a lot of air pollution because ________.
    A) they carry large numbers of cars and passengers as well
    B) it takes more energy to move through water than over land
    C) they use types of fuel that are not allowed on land
    D) their engines are not as powerful as those of other vehicles
    72. How is waste water dealt with on cruise ships?
    A) It’s brought into a town. B) It’s properly recycled.
    C) It’s thrown away at sea. D) It’s stored in the ships.
    73. Why are cruise ship passengers not popular in some cities?
    A) They don’t spend money on meals.
    B) They fill up the restaurants and make noise.
    C) They complain when the city is too crowded.
    D) They are sometimes rude to other tourists.
    74. The purpose of the passage is to ________.
    A) introduce a new way of travelling B) encourage people to try cruise ships
    C) advise governments to ban cruise ships D) explain some problems cruise ships cause
C 70. A 71. B 72. C 73. C 74. D

“You have saved my horse,” Queen Olivia told the young boy standing before her. “Now you shall have a reward.” Peter nervously ran his fingers through his brown hair. The frightened horse had run past him as he worked in the field that morning. He would have helped it whether it belonged to the queen or not. But he had to admit that getting a reward was nice.
Two of the queen’s men appeared. One carried a mirror. Red jewels shone on top of the mirror’s silver frame. The other carried a wooden cage with a chicken inside it.
“Only one reward can be yours,” the queen said. “Choose wisely.” “That’s easy,” Peter said. “I’ll take the chicken.” Some of the queen’s men laughed. It was clear that they thought he had made a foolish choice.
“And why did you choose the chicken?” the queen asked. “Well, I don’t know much about jewels ,” Peter answered. “But I do know about chickens. The chicken will provide eggs for my family for a long while.”
Queen Olivia smiled. “Then you did make a wise choice,” she said. “That mirror may look fancy. But the jewels you see are only colored glass, and the frame is painted silver. The chicken is much more valuable.” Peter took the chicken and bowed. “Thank you, your majesty.”
“You are a smart child,” the queen added. “I could use a smart boy to help take care of my horses. Would you like to take the job?” Peter smiled. “Thank you very much!” he said excitedly. D. Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答下列问题): ( 12分)
When Jan and Brian Dutcher moved to San Diego for Brian’s new job at San Diego State University, the neighbors smiled and introduced themselves. But there were no “bring a plate” invitations, no car pooling for her daughters Liza, 12 and Erin, 15.
“The families really didn’t know each other, and we missed that,” says Jan. “We are far from relatives. Neighbors are our family.”
So Jan, an artist, decided to repeat a project she had done for Liza’s fifth-grade class: ask each person to paint his or her face on a big canvas (帆布). The finished piece would become the new family photo.
First, Jan painted a grid (网格) on the canvas and put it up in the garage with a table of paints nearby. Then whenever she was home, the “art room” door was up, with an open invitation for neighbors to paint. The first to stop in were kids riding by. “They thought it was cool,” says Jan, but the adults weren’t so keen. “Most said they hadn’t picked up a paint brush since kindergarten,” she says. “They were afraid they’d mess it up.” But as word slowly spread, they came, some using their driver’s license photos as models.
Then something started to happen. They returned—to see who had painted, or if they could recognize who was who. In Jan’s garage, they began to chat about schools, jobs and families. Almost daily. Wendy, who lived across the street and was seriously ill, came in her wheelchair to watch the fun. Neighbors began to offer their support.
When the worst thing happened and Wendy died, they stood by her husband, Bill and invited him over for dinners.
This year has been different in the neighborhood. Families take turns hosting happy hours. “We’re watching over each other now just like in the painting” says Jan.

    A. Choose the best answer(根据短文内容,选择最恰当的答案)
It seems that schools in the U.K. are feeling totally hopeless in dealing with the lateness of some of their students. So now, some have decided that the punishment should go not to the children, but to their parents. Thousands of parents in Hampshire have been fined $80 because their children were late for class more than ten times in a term. The fine will double if it is not paid within 21 days. Dozens of schools across Hampshire have put the new rule into effect, and from this September, another 500 local primary and secondary schools will join them.
Similarly, in Islington, London, parents will also face a fine if their children arrive at school late for more than 12 times in six weeks.
Parents in Essex, however, will not be fined, but that doesn't mean they won't face trouble if their children are regularly late for school. Several schools there have set up their late-for-school patrols. Parents who send their children to school late will be questioned by officers of the patrols about the reasons for lateness.
The Education Department explained, “We don't really want to fine or trouble parents. But indeed we want children to be in school. There just comes a time when we have no their choices. Maybe children are still too young to learn the importance of punctuality. So we’re afraid that parents, especially those who send their children to school, need to take the responsibility.”
Parents, of course, are not happy about the new rules. They don't think getting fined or questioned will be a good way to solve the old problem. Besides, to some poor families, $80 may be a lot.

    A. $60 B. $80 C. $160 D. $180
    4. The underlined word “punctuality” in paragraph 5 probably means “_______”
    A. arriving at school early B. arriving at school late
    C. arriving at school on time D. arriving at school with parents
    5. Which of the following statements is NOT TRUE?
    A. Parents in Hampshire will not face a fine if their children are late for class eight times in a term.

    D.Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答下列问题)
    Answer the questions (根据以下内容回答问题)
There once was a king who wanted to find the answers to what he considered the three most important questions in life. The three questions are : when is the right time for every action, who are the most important people , and what is the most important thing to do? The king consulted learned men, promising he would richly reward anyone who could answer the questions, but their answers didn’t satisfy him. In the end, he decided to visit a wise hermit who lived in the woods. The hermit would speak only with common people, so the king put on simple clothes.
When he got close to the hermit’s hut, he ordered his bodyguards to wait behind. He approached the place and found the hermit digging. He asked the wise man his three questions, but the hermit didn’t respond. Seeing how old and weak the hermit was, the king began helping him dig. The king dug for hours, but the hermit never answered his questions. Just as the king was about to leave, a wounded man came running to the hut and fainted before them. Then the king carried the wounded man to Hermit’s hut and took care of him. The king was exhausted and fell asleep as well. When he awoke, he talked with the man, who said that he had wanted to kill the king but was wounded by his bodyguards. He asked for forgiveness and promised to serve the king faithfully.
Afterwards, the king went outside and repeated his questions to the hermit once more. The hermit replied, “If you had not helped me dig earlier, you would have left and been killed by the man. So, the most important man back then was me, and the most important time was when you were digging. The most important thing to do was to be kind to me. When the wounded man arrived, he was the most important person, and saving him was the most important thing. By doing so, you made peace with an enemy.”
The king finally had his three answers. The most important time is the present, as it’s the only time we have the power to act. The most important person is the one you are with, and the most important thing is always to 92

    63. Was the king satisfied with the answers given by learned men?

    64. Where did the hermit live?
