Dear Tom,
Knowing that you enquired about my favorite sport, I’m writing to tell you some brief information.
I can well remember that I was taught to play badminton last year by my father. Since then, I’ve been in love with it and almost play it every day. However, now I just practice once a week because of my busy study in high school. As for the benefits, not only can it rid me of negative emotions, but also help build a strong body.
What about yours? Looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

听力录音稿
(Text 1)
W: Where are you heading in such a rush?
M: I’m heading home.
W: are we still going to have group study tonight?
M: Yeah. I’m just going to get something to eat and then I’ll come back to school immediately.
(Text 2)
M: Anna, how are you feeling?
W: Oh, a little nervous but I really want the job.
M: Don’t worry, Anna. You need to sell yourself and be confident. Good luck!
(Text 3)
M: Do you want to go to the café? It’s fun to drink coffee and watch the people.
W: But a cup of coffee costs three and a half pounds there. We can hang out at the nearby shopping center. That’s cheap.
(Text 4)
M: Hi, this is Bob Robinson from room 1027. I have a problem sleeping with a noisy swimming pool below. And I feel uncomfortable when taking a lift.
W: OK. Let me chick for a quiet room on the first floor.
(Text 5)
W: We still have about ten more orders to pack.
M: Well, I’m really tired. Maybe we can take a break for a while.
W: I’m afraid we can’t. These orders are urgent.
(Text 6)
W: What does Penny eat?
M: Well, she doesn’t usually eat our food. But we sometimes give her some vegetables or brown bread. She loves that.
W: So she likes vegetables and bread. What other food does she eat?
M: We buy special chicken food for her.
W: Is Penny clever? What does she do?
M: She’s very clever! She likes walking with me. She sometimes waits for me next to the door. Whenever I come back home, she runs to me with her wings open.
W: Wow, that’s interesting.
M: And we get an egg from Penny every day.
(Text 7)
W: Well, Joseph, I’m glad you’re finally back. I was wondering what happened.
M: Well, I took a wrong turn somewhere and then I got seriously lost.
W: You could have called.
M: I know I could have. But I finally met your friend Daisy after I drove around for about one hour. She told me the right direction.
W: But you’ve been out for four hours. How could you get lost for so long?
M: Well, there was a car accident and it made a traffic jam. I was waiting in the car for about two hours.
W: Oh, bad luck! Maybe next time I’ll go out with you to buy groceries.
M: If you’d gone with me, the grocery shopping would have taken more time. Remember, last time you spent more than an hour with the store owner talking about how to arrange the curtains.
(Text 8)
W: Do you know the Green cinema next to the museum? It’s closing.
M: I know. Many people like to watch films on TV or the Internet at home.
W: Well, I like watching new films so I like the cinema best. My friends and I usually go to Henley Film Palace two or three times a month. We always buy popcorn and drinks. It’s fun.
M: Henley Film Palace? Where’s that?
W: It’s opposite the bank on Henley Street.
M: Oh, yes, I know it. Do many people go there?
W: No, they don’t. It’s never full.
M: What films are on at Henley Film Palace at the moment?
W: I don’t know. Let’s look on the Internet. Oh, the new James Bond film.
M: Well, I love James Bond. Let’s go and see it right now.
W: Great! But I need to withdraw some money first, or I won’t have enough money for the ticket.
(Text 9)
M: What sports do you do, Jenny?
W: I go skating every Saturday. I practice for hours.
M: I like skating, but I can’t do well. I’m wondering if you can teach me skating this Saturday.
W: No problem. We can meet by the lake. What sports can you do well, Clark?
M: I can run very fast. I often go running. I love cycling, too.
W: I can’t run fast. And I haven’t got a bike, so I never go cycling.
M: Do you want to go cycling now? you can use my sister’s bike.
W: Oh, that’s great! But I can’t go right now. I’ve got homework. Can we go at two o’clock?
M: Sure. Luckily our class have much less homework than your class today.
W: Let’s say … meet at the park at two o’clock?
M: Meet at the park? That’s not a good idea. I can’t go to the park with two bikes!
W: Oh! Of course not. So let’s meet at your house.
M: Well, let’s.
(Text 10)
M: I want to talk about Radiohead. For anyone who doesn’t know , they are a band from Oxford, England. I started to like them in 1997 when their “OK computer” came out. I used to like to listen to a radio program by DJ Wong Chi Chung. Once in his program, he said, “It’s not the end of the year but I have to announce that ‘OK Computer’ is the best album of the year.” So I wanted to listen to the album to see if it was that great. Actually, I bought their album in doubt. But while I was listening, I couldn’t help thinking, “Wow! This is real music!” It’s music as well as the words of the songs is great. At that time I also thought the cover of their album was very good. I didn’t know there is a profession called graphic design until I learned that the cover was made by a graphic designer who is also the band’s friend. At that time I started to take interest in this field and finally got a bachelor’s degree in it in 1999. Radiohead are a very socially responsible band. They care about the Third World debts, fair trade, poverty, global warming and the environment. They make me think about all these world problems I’ve never thought about before. They encourage me to make a difference. Since 2001, I’ve been doing what I can to help with some problems. I think Radiohead are the greatest band and always will be.
