[典例] (2019·全国卷Ⅲ·片段)17.________ Questions about subject content are generally welcomed. Before asking questions about the course design, read the syllabus(教学大纲) and learning management system information to be sure the answer isn’t hiding in plain sight.
E.Below are some common do’s and don’ts for online learners.
F.Everyone has taken a notsogreat class at one time or another.
G.Ask questions, but make sure they are good, thoughtful questions.
[典例] (2019·全国卷Ⅲ·片段)Participate in discussion forums(论坛), blogs and other openended forums for dialogue. 18.________ Be sure to stay on topic and not offer irrelevant information. Make a point, and make it safe for others to do the same.
A.That’s what they are for.
B.Turn to an online instructor for help.
C.If more information is needed, they will ask.
D.Remember that online professors get a lot of emails.
[解析] A 由设空处前面的句子Participate in discussion forums (论坛),blogs and other openended forums for dialogue.中的信息可知,A项中的they代指discussion forums, blogs and other openended forums。
[典例] (2017·全国卷Ⅲ·片段)Keep your sleep/wake schedule on weekends. If you’re tired out by Friday night, sleeping in on Saturday could sound wonderful. But compensating on the weekends actually feeds into your sleepiness the following week, a recent study found.19.________
E.If the steps you take are working, keep it up.
F.Stick to your set bedtime and wakeup time, no matter the day.
G.Reconsider the 15 minutes you spend in line at the cafe to get coffee.
而本段中出现的“Friday, Saturday, weekends”与选项中的“no matter the day”为重复信息。
[典例] (2019·全国卷Ⅰ·片段)Greenery is good for us. Hospital patients who see tree branches out their window are likely to recover at a faster rate than patients who see buildings or sky instead. 39.________ It gives us a great feeling of peace.
B.So what are you waiting for?
C.Being in nature refreshes us.
D.Another side benefit of getting fresh air is sunlight.
E.But is fresh air really as good for you as your mother always said?
[典例] (2019·全国卷Ⅰ·片段)Recently, people have begun studying the connection between the natural world and healing(治愈). 38.________ In these places patients can go to be near nature during their recovery. It turns out that just looking at green, growing things can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and put people into a better mood(情绪).
E.But is fresh air really as good for you as your mother always said?
F.Just as importantly, we tend to associate fresh air with health care.
G.All across the country, recovery centers have begun building Healing Gardens.
But good news is that there’re really only three kinds of decisions you need to make about color in your home: the small ones, the medium ones, and the large ones.
38.________. They’re the little spots of color like throw pillows, mirrors and baskets that most of us use to add visual interest to our rooms. Less tiring than painting your walls and less expensive than buying a colorful sofa, small color choices bring with them the significant benefit of being easily changeable.
Medium color choices are generally furniture pieces such as sofas, dinner tables or bookshelves. 39.G. They require a bigger commitment than smaller ones, and they have a more powerful effect on the feeling of a space.
The large color decisions in your rooms concern the walls, ceilings, and floors. Whether you’re looking at wallpaper or paint, the time, effort and relative expense put into it are significant. 40.F.
A.While all of them are useful
B.Whatever you’re looking for
C.If you’re experimenting with a color
D.Small color choices are the ones we’re most familiar with
E.It’s not really a good idea to use too many small color pieces
F.So it pays to be sure, because you want to get it right the first time
G.Color choices in this range are a step up from the small ones in two major ways
[解析] D 文中出现了“the small ones, the medium ones, and the large ones”,后面又提到了“small color choices”,由此可知空处所在段主要在讲“the small ones”,故选D。
[典例] (2019·全国卷Ⅰ·片段)40.________ While the sun’s rays can age and harm our skin, they also give us beneficial Vitamin D. To make sure you get enough Vitamin D—but still protect your skin—put on sunscreen right as you head outside. It takes sunscreen about fifteen minutes to start working, and that’s plenty of time for your skin to absorb a day’s worth of Vitamin D.
A.Fresh air cleans our lungs.
B.So what are you waiting for?
C.Being in nature refreshes us.
D.Another side benefit of getting fresh air is sunlight.
[典例] (2017·北京卷·片段)Now we have the most direct evidence yet that he is right. 74.________ The synapses in the mice taken at the end of a period of sleep were 18 per cent smaller than those taken before sleep, showing that the connections between neurons weaken while sleeping.
D.The processes take place to stop our brains becoming loaded with memories.
E. That’s why students do better in tests if they get a chance to sleep after learning.
F. “Sleep is the price we pay for learning,” says Giulio Tononi, who developed the idea.
G.Tononi’s team measured the size of these connections, or synapses, in the brains of 12 mice.
常见的表示例证关系的标志词有:for example, for instance, in fact/as a matter of fact, actually, in other words/that is to say等。
[典例] (2018·全国卷Ⅱ·片段)·39.________ Studies found that people who woke up early for exercise slept better than those who exercised in the evening. Exercise energizes you, so it is more difficult to relax and have a peaceful sleep when you are very excited.
A.You will stick to your diet.
B.Your quality of sleep improves.
C.You prefer healthy food to fast food.
表示转折关系的标志词有: but, however, yet, while/though/although, or/otherwise, on the contrary, instead, nevertheless(然而), still, in contrast/comparison, by comparison等。
[典例] (2017·全国卷Ⅲ·片段)·Keep a record and evaluate it weekly. Keep track of your efforts and write down how you feel. After you’ve tried a new method for a week, take a look at your record.20.________ If not, take another look at other methods you could try.
E.If the steps you take are working, keep it up.
F.Stick to your set bedtime and wakeup time, no matter the day.
G.Reconsider the 15 minutes you spend in line at the cafe to get coffee.
表示对比关系的标志词有:while, if not, some...others等。
[典例] (2018·全国卷Ⅰ·片段)The large color decisions in your rooms concern the walls, ceilings, and floors. Whether you’re looking at wallpaper or paint, the time, effort and relative expense put into it are significant. 40.________.
D.Small color choices are the ones we’re most familiar with
E.It’s not really a good idea to use too many small color pieces
F.So it pays to be sure, because you want to get it right the first time
G.Color choices in this range are a step up from the small ones in two major ways
[解析] F 根据上句提到的“the time, effort and relative expense put into it are significant”可知,此处意在强调所花费的时间、精力和费用是巨大的,由此可推知选F。
[技巧点拨] 表示因果关系的标志词有:so, therefore, thus, consequently(结果), as a result (of), so/such ...that ..., so that ...
Every animal sleeps, but the reason for this has remained foggy. When lab rats are not allowed to sleep, they die within a month. 71.________
A.We should also try to sleep well the night before.
B.It’s as if the brain is preserving its most important memories.
C.Similarly, when people go for a few days without sleeping, they get sick.
[技巧点拨] 表示并列关系的标志词有:and, first(ly), second(ly); first, then/next; finally/last; to begin with, for one thing, for another thing等。

Test 1
How to Enjoy Life as a Teen
The “best years of your life”? Maybe not, but you can learn to make the most of your high school days. Here are some tips for you.
Learn to appreciate small things. Whether it’s having a computer, having friends, having a good supply of food, a bed to sleep on or the family that loves you, value it.1.________ Be happy, and life will reward you. Remember that these are the last few years you will be able to enjoy yourself without having to worry about the responsibility of an adult, but make sure you prepare yourself for when you do become one.
Choose your friends wisely. Unlike what many articles state, you don’t have to be popular and have a lot of friends to be happy.2.________ Try to have friends that like you who you are, not just because you are wearing a certain brand of shoes or something like that. These are people who shop at the same store as you; not someone who will sympathize with you when your dog dies.
Play a sport or work out.3.________ If you are good at sports, you will be confident in yourself and more confident in other areas.
4.________ Participating in clubs, activities, and sports increases your chances of meeting new friends. While you only need 4 or 5 close friends, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to meet new people. Participating gives you something to do instead of sitting bored at home.
Pursue interests you enjoy. Video games, for example, are good if you’re the type who can get into that kind of thing.5.________ Use your “hobby time” to learn an instrument, or get into something else in the creative field like painting or dance, because this is the time to start developing and uncovering passions that might otherwise lie dormant.
A.Be sociable.
B.Remember that the point of life is for you to enjoy it.
C.Having a healthy body leads to a healthy and happy mind.
D.You should also find a hobby that is meaningful or practical.

2.G 解析:根据上文“Unlike what many articles state, you don’t have to be popular and have a lot of friends to be happy.”
3.C 解析:根据下文“If you are good at sports, you will be confident in yourself and more confident in other areas.”

Test 2
