When you walk around the Hebrew Home Senior Living Home in Riverdale, New York, you'll naturally see a lot of people in their 90s using walkers. But one of those people shouldn't be mistaken for a resident-he's 92-year-old Jerry Schneider, a volunteer.

He first visited Hebrew Home in 2007, when his wife was diagnosed with cancer and went there for care. "I would see her every day and wheel her around," Schneider said. "We used to see a lot of lonely people and my wife said, "You know, later on, you ought to volunteer." At first, Schneider didn't think he'd return to volunteer. He thought his wife would recover and come home, but she, unfortunately, passed away. Then, a few years later, Schneider's son reminded him about his wife's suggestion. So, eight years ago, he signed up to visit seniors at the nursing home.

"He comes usually every Tuesday," Oscar who was born in 1932 told CBS News during Schneider's weekly visit "See, I don't have good eyesight, so sometimes he reads to me. But mostly, we chat back and forth." Schneider told CBS News that's what most of the residents are looking for-a friend to chat with. He admits that it may be unusual to see a volunteer old enough to live at Hebrew Home. But Schneider is happy to be that for them. His friendship has changed Oscar for the better. Schneider said his friend used to be quite introvert, but now he looks forward to their chats.

For Schneider, the visits help him, too. "This gives me a little extra life. I am meeting people here, talking. Otherwise, I'd have no one to talk to at home," the New York native said. "I mean, I look at myself, and I say, "If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.”

    A. He was inspired by his wife.       B. He could wheel his wife around.

    C. He has a lot of friends there.       D. His son told him to do so.

    5. What can we learn from the passage?

    D. What Schneider mainly does is to communicate with the seniors.

    B. The roses in her hand, the flavor in mine.

    C. East or west, home is the best.

Visitors flooded to the National Museum of China, as 600 long-lost Chinese relics returned to China, including bronze animal heads stolen from the Old Summer Palace, are on exhibit together for the first time to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China(PRC). Many web users also expressed eagerness to visit the exhibit during the National Day holidays, saying they were excited to see the long-lost relics. The most popular relics are the 12 bronze animal heads representing the Chinese zodiac(十二生肖).

Over 600 cultural relics from 13 provinces and cities and 18 museums and cultural institutions nationwide are on display, the National Cultural Heritage Administration said in a statement sent to the Global limes on September 17.This is the first time China has carried out overall display of the country's history of lost cultural relics recovered since 1949, including Chinese pottery, bronze ware, paintings and calligraphy, the statement said.

Feng Shengyi, who majored in cultural relics studies at Beijing University, said the return of more long-lost relics demonstrates Chinas development, Chinese people's love for the country and enthusiasm to protect relics and culture. Guan Qiang, director of the administration, told the Global Times. “Each recovery is difficult due to its complexity and historical issues, so we need to combine different ways to recover the relics, such as negotiations, donations, rescue work and commercial purchases.”

China has built a database of stolen cultural relics and is planning to expand it, Guan said, noting that they would digitize cultural relics, especially fragile ones, and let more people around the world discover the charm of Chinese culture. The Chinese Government has signed agreements with more than 20 countries, including the US, Italy and Switzerland, on the recovery of cultural relics and the establishment of cooperation system.

    8. Which relics would attract the visitors most?

    A. Chinese pottery.           B. Bronze Ware

    C. Bronze animal heads.       D. Paintings and calligraphy.

    9. What can we say about the recovery of lost relics?

    A. Ordinary.       B. Challenging.       C. Expensive.       D. Charming.

    10. What does China aim to do in the future?

    A. Make digital copies of cultural relics.         B. Hold more exhibitions.

    C. Build a database of stolen cultural relics.      D. Discover the attraction of Chinese culture.

Some good news for nap lovers-a new study has found that a daytime nap taken once or twice a week could lower the risk of heart attacks or strokes.

Researchers from the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland studied the link between napping frequency and duration and the risk of fatal and non-fatal disease. Tracking 3,462 people between the ages of 35 and 75 for just over five years, the researchers found that those who are addicted to occasional nappingonce or twice a week, for between five minutes to an hour-were 48% less likely to stiffer heart attack, stroke or heart failure than those who did not nap at all.

The observational study, which was published in Heart, the journal of the British Cardiovascular Society, found that no such association appeared for greater frequency or duration of naps. While some studies have been done on the impact of napping on heart health, many published studies fail to consider napping frequency or duration, the researchers said.

Naveed Sattar, Professor of Metabolic Medicine at the University of Glasgow, said that while the study was "somewhat interesting", it seems that those who nap once or twice a week have healthier or organized lifestyles, but that those who napped daily were likely to be more sick.

"This means the former pattern of occasional napping is on purpose and the latter of napping likely represents illness linked to poorer lifestyle. This would then explain the different risks," Sattar told the SMC. "I don't think one can work out whether "intentional" napping on one or two days per week improves heart health, so no one should insist that napping is a way to lessen their heart attack risk," he added. "For now, far better to aim for regular good night's sleep and to follow usual lifestyle advice of good diets and decent activity levels."

    12. How did the researches draw their conclusion?

    A. By doing experiment.        B. By doing survey.

    C. By building up models.       D. By observing people.

    13. What's the difference between previous studies and the new study?

    A. Influence of napping on heart health.

    B. Link between nap and risk of heart attacks.

    C. Napping frequency or duration.

    D. Napping frequency and lifestyle.

    14. What might happen to those who napped daily?

    A. More illness.         B. A healthy body.

    C. A healthier heart.      D. Proper lifestyle

    15. What may Sattar agree with?

    A. Everyone should have regular nap twice a week.

    B. The more naps, the better.

    C. If you can have naps, regular night's sleep is unnecessary.

    D. Live a healthy life by good diets and doing exercises.
