I have lng realized that peple wh have grwn up n a farm have a leg up n s many future jb prspects. Expsed t the very true saying that necessity is the mther f inventin, farm kids witnessed parents wh culd perfrm a master class n figuring ut a slutin t any number f breakdwns n the fly.
We all knew the names f hand tls befre we started first grade. Much f this educatin transferred withut a wrd uttered, and n praise r reward was expected. Peple wh visited my parents were always astnished that we kids gt ur barn bts and headed ut the dr fr milking time withut a wrd said. There was n cmplaining. We knew that the sner we gt started, the sner we wuld be dne.
What we didn't realize is that we were learning life skills and mastering simple strategies t deal with challenges that unavidably landed in ur path. We culd draw n dzens f previus experiences we had helped ur parents thrugh.
Nt t lng ag, I heard a friend f mine saying that hiring a yung persn wh was raised n a farm is a dream find and getting harder t cme by as ur landscape changes. This fact is wrrisme in nearly every career lane. If a yung nursing student has assisted with animals, there is sympathy and attentin t detail already in the makeup f that student. Judgment has been develped, helping t determine a minr issue versus a majr ne. A yung truck driver wh grew up wrking n tractrs (拖拉机) already has an eye fr safety. If a tire is lw, it will be checked and addressed befre hitting the pen rad.
A yung persn starting just abut any jb starts at a disadvantage if they've dne nthing but play thrughut their life. Mst f my classmates, even if their wn parents were nt farmers, had the pprtunity t be hired by a farmer, even if just fr summer wrk. Hwever, that fact has changed greatly ver the years, even in my rural cmmunity. I truly miss thse simple, glden days.

This cnditin, knwn as prlnged grief disrder (PGD), was added t the Diagnstic and Statistical Manual f Mental Disrders 5 (DSM - 5) in 2022.
“There’s smething blcking their ability t finally say, ‘I have t accept this,’ ” says Katherine Shear, directr f the Center fr Prlnged Grief at Clumbia University. Researchers are nw beginning t understand why. PGD may invlve breakdwns in the brain systems that gvern attachment and reward, accrding t a 2026 study published in Trends in Neursciences. In peple with prlnged grief, thse systems may cntinue t signal that the lst lved ne is still expected, creating a cnflict between memry and reality.
PGD is a “lng - term, intense, painful reactin t lss,” says Hlly Prigersn at Weill Crnell Medicine. Individuals remain “stuck,” marked by persistent lnging and nt accepting the reality f the lss. Grief is cnsidered PGD when symptms last lnger than 12 mnths.
Hw des it affect the brain? Regins invlved in reward and mtivatin appear t remain active. “Peple with severe grief are still expecting the existence f what is gne, making it harder fr the brain t update and accept the lss,” says Shear. Research published in 2020 als fund that PGD invlves different activity patterns in the amygdala (大脑杏仁核).
PGD can lead t a higher risk f death. One reasn is that prlnged grief keeps the bdy in a lasting stress respnse. High levels f crtisl (皮质醇) can hurt the heart system and interfere with immune functin.
The mst cmmn treatment is Prlnged Grief Therapy. “The treatment fcuses n helping peple accept the reality f the lss and restre their capacity fr well - being, but frmal recgnitin f PGD is crucial, as it ensures accurate diagnsis and effective treatment fr thse stuck in this disabling experience,” Shear explains.
28. What is PGD accrding t the text?

A. It disturbs brain functins.B. It reduces memry activity.
C. It weakens the immune system.D. It shrtens peple’s lifetime.

A. Official identificatin f PGD leads t better medical help.
B. Well - being can be recvered with shrt - term PGD therapy.
C. Reality acceptance f the lss is the main gal f curing PG
D.
D. Recgnitin f PGD largely relies n patients’ self - awareness.

Artificial intelligence is cntributing t significant advances in many academic and technical fields. Althugh the applicatin f AI tls can benefit science and sciety, it als creates risks.
AI slp – lw - quality, inaccurate cntent frm Generative AI like ChatGPT – flds scientific literature with false data and misleading reasning. AI review tls favur such slp. After ChatGPT’s 2022 release, scientists lacking versight submit errr - ridden papers. AI slp als appears in paper mills – cmpanies mass - prducing papers; in 2022 alne, 416 mill - prduced articles were withdrawn. Thugh fake research existed befre Generative AI, this new technlgy has facilitated its expansin, driving a transitin frm individual bad actrs t illegal businesses.
Unfrtunately, prfessinal jurnals cntinue t publish AI slp. This prblem arises partially frm nvel challenges specific t Generative AI, such as the difficulties invlved in detecting AI slp; the cmplexities in enfrcing plicies that require disclsure f AI assistance; and the increase in submissins arising frm AI assistance. The AI slp trend als results frm lng - standing failures in the review system. Even befre Generative AI, verstretched vlunteer reviewers and editrs lacked the time and resurces t ensure high standards, allwing many lw - quality papers t pass. AI - generated and AI - assisted papers are pushing an already verstressed system t the breaking pint.
Even the very citatins that prvide cntinuity and prir evidence in scientific papers are being undermined by Generative AI. Librarians have reprted increasing requests fr access t AI - generated citatins that d nt exist. Many such citatins have already entered the academic literature, cntributing t the reductin f trust in science. When researchers cite such slp, they pllute the academic wrld with unreliable r biased analyses, damaging cnfidence in the entire scientific ecsystem.
What can we d t cntain the AI slp in scientific research? Researchers wh use AI t cnduct literature searches shuld carefully check references fr reliability. AI develpers and cmpanies bear sme respnsibility fr ensuring that these tls are trained n high - quality research papers and data. Fr example, scientific institutins can pressure develpers t fine - tune their AI mdels using the mst reliable surces and t penly share the results f their safety and accuracy tests with users. This is just the beginning f a lng jurney.
32. What effect des artificial intelligence have n scientific research?
A. It transfrms illegal businesses.
B. It saves struggling paper mills.
C. It eliminates misleading reasning.
D. It bsts the prductin f false papers.
33. What can we learn abut the academic review system?
A. It is verburdened.B. It is underestimated.
C. It is rich in resurces.D. It is efficient in checks.
34. What des the underlined wrd “undermined” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Inspected.B. Ignred.C. Weakened.D. Mixed.
35. What des the authr imply in the last paragraph?
A. AI slp shuld be tackled cllectively.
B. AI cmpanies shuld be fined severely.
C. AI tls can be trained n varius data.
D. AI develpers are the rt cause f AI slp.

She plays the cell (大提琴), like I d, and we g t rchestra every Saturday. She makes peple laugh, and whenever I feel nervus, she tells me, “Yu've gt this,” We've been best friends since furth grade. I knew Hayley wasn't real, but it was easier than explaining why I didn't have a best friend.
In fact, there was a girl in my rchestra class, Emily, wh usually practiced the cell in the music rm. Once, she helped me adjust my bw hld after a rehearsal (排练) and gave me an encuraging smile. “Yu've gt this,” she said sftly.
