When I first came acrss Hirn, he didn’t really stand ut t me. He was amng several figurines(小塑像) put in a crner f Pp Mart’s studi. Little did I knw that was the beginning f a cnnectin I had yet t realize.
It wasn’t until I jined Pp Mart as a livestream hst last July — part f my jb was t familiarize myself with every IP in the cmpany — that my true jurney with Hirn began.
As I intrduced Hirn t thers, I began t appreciate the quiet charm hidden in his wrld. His expressin is always sullen — drping eyes, sluched psture, an almst “untuchable” aura. Nt the cutest r mst eye-catching lk, I wuld say, but I came t realize that it’s all a prtective shell.
In him, I saw a reflectin f myself: the lneliness and cnfusin that surface under life’s pressure, and the indifferent masks we smetimes put n t cpe with reality. Thugh I am usually an extrvert, cheerful and bubbly n the utside, the truth is that every stry carries untld chapters. Thrugh Hirn, I allw myself t feel the vast wilderness I rarely reach in my heart, and ften I see my wn emtins prjected nt his figure.
One f my favrite series f Hirn is definitely “Ech”. As a freign student in China, hmesickness quietly lingers in the backgrund f my life. This series reminds me that these eches f the past are nt just fleeting shadws, but silent cmpanins that resurface when I need them mst, giving me strength and allwing me t break free frm the weight f reality, even just fr a mment. T me, Hirn is a friend wh teaches me t embrace bth the lneliness and the light within.
Wrking at Pp Mart has shwn me that these tys are nt merely figurines, but little “happy pills” that lift spirits and brighten days. Perhaps that is why Hirn cntinues t live in the hearts f s many yung peple — nt nly as a cllectible, but as a gentle reminder that we are never truly alne.
24. What made me becme interested in Hirn?
A. My first encunter with Pp Mart.
B. My experience as a freign student.
C. My appreciatin fr its eye-catching lk.
D. My pprtunity t wrk with Pp Mart.

A. Their true selves were hidden frm thers.
B. They wre cheerful lks n their faces.
C. They were indifferent t the reality.
D. They were prtected by their fllwers.
26. Why is “Ech” my favrite series?
A. It ffers me a permanent escape frm reality.
B. It symblizes the rebellius spirit f the yuth.
C. It makes me feel nstalgic fr my hmetwn.
D. It empwers me t get away frm life pressure.
27. What’s my purpse f writing this passage?
A. T share a philsphy f life taught by Hirn.
B. T prmte the sales f figurines in Pp Mart.
C. T increase the expsure f Hirn in the media.

If yu read just ne bk in 2025, yu belng t an endangered species. Accrding t a recent survey, fewer than half f Americans had read a single bk in the past year. As the ppulatin f readers declines, educatrs have been wrrying abut this trend. Nw, sme try a new methd: persuading peple t read t save their cmmunity spirit. They argue that reflective reading helps citizens handle cmplexity and recver attentin.
The prblem with these arguments is that they misunderstand why peple becme readers. Telling smene t lve literature because it is gd fr sciety is like telling smene t believe in Gd because religin is gd fr scial stability. It is a practical argument fr smething that shuld be a persnal passin. Instead f describing reading as a public duty, it shuld be seen as a private pleasure — even a “vice” (恶习).
Histrically, when literature was cnsidered dangerus r “bad”, mralists culd nt stp peple frm buying bks. Nw, when bks are seen as virtuus and educatinal, thse same mralists cannt persuade anyne t pick ne up. By making reading a “must-d” task fr self-imprvement, we have taken away its primary attractin: the thrill f ding smething fr its wn sake, rather than fr its usefulness.
In fact, becming a reader means cultivating a relatinship with the wrld that seems cunterprductive. Reading is “unprfitable”; it des nt teach transferable skills r prvide netwrking pprtunities. It is, in a sense, an anti-scial activity. Yu turn yur back n the real wrld t enter an imaginary ne. Yet, it is precisely this “uselessness” that makes reading pwerful. It ffers an inner freedm that cannt be measured by scial value. If we want t save reading, we shuld stp praising its benefits and start celebrating its delightful wrthlessness.
28. What is the educatrs’ real purpse in using the new methd?
A. T strengthen scial stability.
B. T fulfill scial duties.
C. T handle cmplex prblems.
D. T stp the decline in reading.
29. What des the authr think f the “practical argument”?
A. It is quite cnvincing.
B. It is scially respnsible.
C. It is practically ineffective.
D. It is mrally wrng.
30. What can we infer abut reading frm the last paragraph?
A. It helps readers avid scial duties.
B. It functins as a tl fr netwrking.
C. Its pwer cmes frm its lack f prfit.
D. Its value lies in creating a better wrld.
31. What is the best title fr the text?
A. The Benefit f Scial Reading
B. Reading: A Duty r a Vice?
C. Hw t Build Inner Freedm
D. The Decline f American Literature

Until recently, the cnventinal wisdm abut building muscles was the “tear and repair” system—the idea that wrking ut causes micrtears in muscle fibers, which trigger repair and grwth, encuraging the muscles t cme back bigger and strnger. This led many t believe in the “n gain withut pain” philsphy. Hwever, current science suggests that while muscle damage cntributes, it is nt the primary factr.
Dr. Anne Brady, a specialist in muscle quality, explains that the primary driver f muscle grwth is mechanical tensin. When yu lift heavy weights r perfrm repetitins t near-failure, physical tensin stretches the muscle cell membranes (细胞膜). Frm there, that stretch is detected by specialized sensrs, which then signal the bdy t build new prtein t make fibers thicker and strnger. Anther driver is metablic stress—the “burn” yu feel—which creates a favrable envirnment fr grwth, but nt enugh n its wn.
Interestingly, this grwth prcess des nt always yield a unifrm result. Fr example, Olympic weightlifters can mve enrmus weights withut jumping up a weight categry, while sme bdybuilders have large muscles but less functinal pwer. Dr. Brady and her team then cnducted a study where yung men wrking ut fr six weeks n a high-vlume weightlifting prgram gt bigger withut necessarily getting much strnger. This happens because, accrding t Dr. Brady’s research, training can target different types f grwth: ne adds mre “cntracting units” t increase strength, while the ther mainly increases the fluid vlume inside the muscle t add size.
Cmbining these findings, Dr. Brady advises trainees nt t “majr in the minr” by bsessing ver pain r pushing t abslute limits. Instead, the mst effective apprach is “prgressive verlad”: gradually increasing the wrk thrugh mre lift repetitins r heavier weights. By wrking t near-failure rather than ttal exhaustin, yu can achieve a balance f strength and size ver time.
32. What can be inferred frm the “n gain withut pain” philsphy in Para. 1?
A. It values physical cmfrt.
B. It speeds up muscle fiber recvery.
C. It remains the mst effective training methd.
D. It reflects the idea f repairing tiny muscle tears.
33. What directly triggers the signal fr the bdy t build new muscle prtein?
A. Repetitins perfrmed t near-failure.
B. The thickening f specialized tensin sensrs.
C. The detectin f stretched muscle cell membranes.
D. The favrable envirnment created by metablic stress.
34. What is Paragraph 3 mainly abut?
A. Different types f muscle grwth.
B. Benefits f high-vlume weightlifting.
C. Reasns fr Olympic athletes’ success.
D. Relatinships between size and pwer.
35. What is Dr. Brady’s advice n muscle building?
A. T fcus n the fluid in muscles.
B. T add training lads step by step.
C. T seek pain and ttal exhaustin.
D. T balance muscle strength and size.

It was early autumn. I decided t g hiking and camping in a nearby muntain frest with my tw gd friends, Alice and Jasn. We were all adventure enthusiasts, eager t embrace the refreshing natural scenery. After weeks f busy daily rutines, we truly welcmed the chance t enjy nature and relax utdrs.
The three f us made a perfect team despite ur different persnalities. Alice, the nly girl in ur grup, was careful, thughtful and well-prepared. She had brught alng a cmpass (指南针), a detailed trail map, and even a first-aid kit fr emergencies. As fr me, I was fairly cautius, always keeping an eye n ur surrundings. Jasn, by cntrast, was bld and impulsive (冲动的), always eager t explre further.
After arriving at the quiet campsite surrunded by tall pine trees, we pitched ur tents tgether, gathered dry firewd, and prepared a simple utdr meal. After lunch, we started ur explratin. We planned t fllw a winding trail leading up the hillside. Accrding t Alice’s research, there was a hidden lkut pint n the hill that ffered a stunning view f the entire valley.
As we walked, Jasn kept running ahead impatiently, shuting fr us t quicken ur pace. “Let’s see what’s up there!” he called ut excitedly. Alice fllwed clsely behind, fcusing n checking the map t cnfirm ur rute. I walked at a steady speed at the end, ensuring we stayed tgether.
The path grew narrwer as we climbed higher. Sunlight filtered thrugh the thick branches abve, casting faint shadws n the grund. After abut an hur’s walk, we reached a leaf-cvered rcky area. The trail began t twist mre than expected, and many landmarks we passed didn't match what was n the map.
“I think the viewpint is just beynd this slpe,”Jasn said, pinting t the frnt with great excitement. I lked at the slippery slpe with uncertainty. “Let’s be careful.
