In 2020 he and lng-time partner Jared Bush lcked themselves in a tiny stry rm at Disney Animatin. Index cards cvered every wall: sme shwed Nick and Judy n new cases; thers pictured reptiles (爬行动物) wh had never appeared in the city. “We wanted a bigger wrld, nt just a bigger case,” Hward explains. Between cups f cld cffee they finally fund the clue — why were reptiles absent frm the first film? Answering that became the emtinal engine f the sequel (续篇).
T feel what their cld-blded characters might experience, the team nce spent an afternn in the studi’s walk-in freezer, writing stry utlines with glves. “Our teeth chattered, but the jkes gt warmer,” Bush laughs.
The next five years became a cycle f creatin and destructin. They drafted eight versins f the pening, built an undergrund jazz bar fr lizards, and even designed a giraffe mayr wh spke s sftly that n micrphne culd catch him. Each time a screening flpped, the team tre the stry apart and started again. “Giving up every draft felt like cutting ff a piece f my heart,” Hward laughs, “but the city deserved the best.”
On Nvember 26, 2025, when the finished film lit up the theater, Hward quietly slipped int the back rw. Watching kids cheer fr a snake wh saves Judy, he whispered, “Welcme hme.” The city that nce existed nly in sketches had grwn, and s had its builder.

“I’d like t have yur prblem!” It is a cmmn remark made t underweight peple, wh tend t awake mre envy (嫉妒) than sympathy. Hwever, underweight peple have just as much truble putting n the punds as verweight peple have lsing them — they are als related t health risks.
The prblem f the underweight is that they are unwilling r unable t eat enugh, r they eat like a hrse but still d nt gain weight. They have a fast metablism (新陈代谢) and can eat whatever they want withut putting n kilgrams. Peple with a slw metablism depsit(存储) mst f the energy they take in with fd as bdy fat. Peple with a fast metablism burn this energy ff, prducing heat.
T smene wh is verweight, a fast metablism may seem desirable. But frm a medical standpint it is a prblem. Being underweight is usually accmpanied by a lack f basic nutrients and/ r trace elements. This increases the risk f develping disrders such as steprsis, weakens muscle functin and slws the healing f wunds. Underweight peple are ften elderly, have little appetite r perhaps are n lnger able t chew prperly. Peple can als lse a lt f weight due t a serius disease r chemtherapy (化疗).
A ptential health prblem is als smetimes respnsible. Even yung, healthy peple can be affected when they feel stressed ut emtinally. A classic case is lvesickness. Yur stmach feels as if tied up in knts, yur nerves are shaky, and after tw bites f fd yu are full. Befre lng, yur bdy is running ut f energy, and yu either becme sleepy r mre nervus — in any case yu eat even less and then enter a dwnward spiral (螺旋轨道). What will yu d when yur trusers get baggy, yur eyes start t widen, yur bnes and teeth start t stick ut, yur energy level drps and yur sensitiveness rises?
      8. What is the main fcus f the passage?
      A. The scial advantages f being thin.
      B. The benefits f having a fast metablism.
      C. The health risks and causes f being underweight.
      D. The ways f gaining weight thrugh prper diet and exercise.
      9. Accrding t the passage, which f the fllwing is a health risk related t being underweight?
      A. Lst muscle functin.B. Slwer healing f wunds.
      C. Increased risk f heart disease.D. Increased chance f slw metablism.
      10. What can we learn frm the passage?
      A. Lsing weight is harder than gaining weight.
      B. Eating like a hrse will definitely help peple gain weight.
      C. All the peple are eager fr a fast metablism t lse weight.
      D. A ptential health prblem may cntribute t being underweight.
      11. What is the writing style f the last paragraph?
      A. Lively.B. Dull.C. Serius.D. Frmal.
      D
A qute frm the American writer, F. Sctt Fitzgerald, reads, “T be kind is mre imprtant than t be right. Many times, what peple need is nt a brilliant mind that speaks but a special heart that listens.” Often, we shut t be right, t impress peple with ur knwledge and intellect, t shw them we are the “superir knw-it-all”. Hwever, upn reflectin, I find that Fitzgerald’s qute resnates (共鸣) with me mre.
In this fast-paced, cmpetitive sciety, mst peple wuld want t struggle fr excellence, t be the best they can be. There is nthing wrng with this. Hwever, there are certain individuals wh take it a step further and make it their persnal mtt t exhibit their ne-upmanship (胜人一筹) against anyne whse views differ frm theirs. They believe intensely that their values and their knwledge are flawless. Often such peple will ut-talk thse wh disagree with them. While they may have seemingly wn the argument, is there any real meaning t this? Bth parties are likely t dig their heels in and unlikely t admit they are wrng, until ne side gives in r gives up.
In cntrast, I believe it is far mre imprtant t be kind than right. Even if we knw we are right, we d nt have t press ur views n thers. We shuld in fact listen mre, and learn t appreciate viewpints that are different frm urs. As the famed American educatr Stephen Cvey nce said, “Seek first t understand, then be understd.” Often, we listen nt t understand but t prve the ther persn is wrng. In an argument with smene, we d nt even listen t what the ther persn has t say because while they talk, we are already mentally trying t find ways t sht dwn their ideas. It wuld be far better t silence ur minds and t actually pay attentin t what the ther persn is saying.
Mrever, the insistence n being right all the time cmes with its wn extra damage — human relatinships are hurt in the prcess. T prve we are right, we becme judgmental. We cnsider the ther persn t be less wrthy because they are “wrng”. T be right means we put urselves in the frnt and center f the relatinship, ignring the feelings f the ther party. Friendships and even family relatinships becme tense just fr the sake f winning the argument, when lve and empathy wuld have wrked better t ease the tensin.
      12. Why des the authr mentin Fitzgerald’s qute in the first paragraph?
      A. T make a cntrast.B. T present the fact.
      C. T prvide an example.D. T intrduce the tpic.
      13. Accrding t the authr, what is the likely result when peple argue t verwhelm thers with different views?
      A. It helps bth sides understand each ther mre deeply.
      B. It bsts their self-cnfidence and cmmunicatin skills.
      C. They may seem t win the argument, but it hlds little real meaning.
      D. They can genuinely persuade the ther party t accept their viewpint.
      14. Why d peple ften listen in an argument accrding t paragraph 3?
      A. T silence thers’ minds.B. T argue against thers’ ideas.
      C. T seek mutual understanding.D. T appreciate different views.
      15. What is the best title f this passage?
      A. Hw t Win arguments with Intelligence.
      B. Stephen Cvey’s Advice n Effective Cmmunicatin.
      C. The Imprtance f Struggling fr Excellence in Sciety.
      D. Kindness Over Being Right: The Value f Listening and Empathy.
