      2. Understand the passages, practice hw t talk abut what smene used t be like and what he used t d.

      Review the usage f “used t”.
      Present sme pictures and ask students t make sentences with “used t” accrding t the pictures and key wrds that are shwn n the PPT.
      Students make sentences with “used t”

      they’ve learnt last class.
      Step 2 Practice
      Sum up different aspects f students’ changes.
      Ask Ss t wrk in pairs, intrduce themselves and their partners t the whle class abut their past life in different aspects.
      Pay attentin t the sentence patterns:
      Intrduce yurself:
      I use t be/d ... I didn't use t be/d ...
      Intrduce yur partner:
      She / He used t be/d ...
      She / He didn't use t be/d ...
      Ss use the sentence patterns t intrduce themselves and their partners.
      T get Ss t take part in the class mre actively and
      practice the target
      language in different aspects.
      T help them learn mre abut their classmates.
      Step 3 Present 4a
      Ask Ss t bserve the phrases and explain the new wrds: Eurpean, American...
      2. Ask Ss t finish Exercise 4a: write sentences abut the past using “used t”.
      3. Check the answers with the students.
      Ss bserve the phrases in exercise 4a, finish this exercise and check answers.
      T prvide Ss with mre practice abut the usage f “used t” in declarative
      sentences.
      Step 4 Present 4b
      Lead-in: T presents tw phts which shw a student’s changes and asks the fllwing questins:
      Q1: What did … lk like years ag?
      Q2: What des … lk like nw?
      Lead in the sentence pattern: ... use t..., but nw...
      Present mre pictures t practice the sentence pattern.
      3. Ask students t read the chart in 4b and try t write sentences abut Emily with the infrmatin.
      E.g. Emily didn’t use t eat a lt f vegetables, but nw she lves carrts and tmates.
      4. Sum up the aspects that are intrduced abut Emily in the chart: eating habits/ hbbies/ behavirs/ habits.
      Ss answer the tw questins and make sentences with “... use t..., but nw...”
      Finish exercise 4b and sum up Emily’s changes in different aspects.

      Ask Ss t think f mre things r mre situatins that they are afraid f.
      Ask Ss t wrk in pairs and act ut the interview with their partners. Using the sentence patterns belw:
      A: Did yu use t be afraid f … ?
      B: -Yes, I did. I used t be afraid f …
      -N, I didn’t. I didn’t use t be afraid f ...
      A: Are yu still afraid f … ?
      B: -Yes, I am. I am still afraid f …
      -N, nt any mre.
      4. Ask Ss t d a reprt abut the results f the interview.
