      It all began at my lcal airprt. As I std there, I suddenly realized my suitcase was still at hme. I called my wife, and she prmised t bring my bag n the next flight. The airprt wrker said that it wuld arrive at Utah's htel by evening. But when I checked in late that night, nthing waited. I called Delta Airlines. Peter, a baggage wrker, said the flight was canceled. "It'll reach yur htel by 9 tmrrw mrning,” he prmised.
      At 9 a. m., I called Delta again, vice shaking, "Where's my bag?” Peter asked calmly, "Can yu make it thrugh tday?” "But I have nthing!” I wanted t scream. Instead, I washed my shirt in the washbwl, hung it near the heater, and hped it wuld dry by mrning.
      By nn, I'd given up. A man handed me scks and a shirt. "Traveling light?” he smiled. I ndded, shy. Later, Delta's ffice said, "N recrd f baggage withut a ticket number.” Peter phned back the next mrning. "I believe yu,” he said, "but truth needs prf.” His wrds were kind but unhelpful.
      Days passed. Peter's advice t "fcus n tday” kept me ging. I brrwed a tthbrush, saved my nly underwear, and laughed when I thught my suitcase was lying in New Yrk. "That's t lng a way frm LaGuardia Airprt,” Peter jked during ur fifth call. "Wh knws why?” I laughed, thugh my heart ached.
      A week later, Delta called, "Yur suitcase's been in New Yrk—trapped at LaGuardia.” At Salt Lake Airprt in Utah, I sptted my dusty bag n the cnveyr belt (传送带) . "Culd I call yu again?” I asked Peter. "As lng as yu fly Delta,” he laughed quietly. I hugged the suitcase, laughing, thugh my heart still ached.
