As ur bat mves quickly up and dwn in a windy ice-filled small bay, I try t judge the health cnditin f the plar bear (北极熊)in frnt f me. We are in Franz Jsef Land, a remte part f Russia between the Barents Sea and the Arctic Ocean.
While ffshre bears fllw the sea ice, hunting seals (海豹)n ice all year rund, bears that live by the sea spend their summers n land and are frced t search fr whatever they can find. Relying n lw-calrie meals such as the eggs f nesting seabirds, it is harder fr these bears t pack n the punds. Researchers recently fund that ffshre bears arund the Barents Sea are sme f the mst plluted animals n Earth. This is a direct cnsequence f the seals they feed n.
Over a perid f 14 years' study, Heli Rutti frm the Nrwegian Plar Institute fund that ffshre female bears were in a better health, having greater bdy weight, than female bears by the sea, but n average their levels f pllutants called PFASs are 33 percent higher.
PFASs are used t make industrial prducts which are pisnus and degrade (降解)very slwly. These pllutants find their way t the Arctic thrugh air, where they fall in snw and gradually add up in the ice. As the ice melts every summer, the PFASs g int the water, where they enter the fd chain. They eventually make their way int the fat that keeps seals warm and frm there int the bears that eat them.
During my 15 days in Franz Jsef Land, I saw five bears, all living by the sea. Each lked relatively healthy. There are signs that these bears are dealing with the glbal-warming-caused ice lss relatively well. “The bears, s far, seem t be handling the sea ice lss,” says Andrew Dercher at the University f Alberta, wh wrked with Rutti n the study, “But I'm sure that's ging t change if the speed f ice lss increases sharply in the area.”
8.Frm the text we can learn plar bears living by the sea ________.
      A. eat seals n ice all year rund
      B. lk fr fd n land in summer
      C. becme the mst plluted animals n Earth
      D. stay n the ice in summer t avid ht weather
9.What des the underlined part “pack n the punds” in Paragraph 2 mean?
      A. Put n weight.B. Mve arund.
      C. Fight against pllutin.D. Live alne.
10.What is Paragraph 4 mainly abut?
      A. The rate f PFASs' degradatin.
      B. The effects f PFASs n the envirnment.
      C. The prcess f PFASs' entering plar bears.
      D. The applicatin f PFASs in mdern industry.
11.Accrding t Andrew Dercher, what will happen if the sea ice lss increases?
      A. Mre pllutants may g int the air.
      B. It will make n difference t bears.
      C. The death rate f seals may increase.
      D. Bears might fail t adapt t the change.

Fr ver a decade, Zubin Kanga, a pianist, cmpser and technlgist, has changed the limits f the frms f musical perfrmances. Smetimes I’m using live delays and perating them. The sund can change depending n hw my hands are mving. It allws me t make a very theatrical piece, and peple can see this immediate cnnectin between hw I’m mving — these very big, almst cnductr-like gestures thrugh the air — and the way the sund is changing,” said Kanga.
This is just the start, and Kanga ges n t be enthused with the use f mtin sensrs t make music, the pssibilities that AI ffers cmpsers as a tl, and hw virtual reality culd transfrm perfrmances and mre.

      B. T prve its rare accuracy.
      C. T shw it has a lng histry.
      D. T clarify why he uses technlgy.
14.Hw des Kanga perfrm Steel n Bne?
      A. By mving his hands in the air.
      B. By pressing the pian keys.
      C. By beating the steel knitting needles.
      D. By making very small gestures.
15.Which can be the best title fr the text?
      A. Technlgy: When It Replaces Music
      B. Virtual Reality: Future f Perfrmances
      C. Zubin Kanga: When Music Meets Technlgy
      D. AI Music: Frm Cmpsing t Perfrming
