As his business grew, he hired sme f the villagers t help him pack and ship the prducts. This nt nly increased his wn incme but als prvided jb pprtunities fr the peple in the village.

In the digital age, nline learning has emerged (出现) as a revlutinary way f acquiring knwledge, causing heated debates abut its benefits and drawbacks. Supprters praise its flexibility, as students can access curses
anytime, anywhere, and adjust their learning pace t fit busy schedules. Fr example, a high schl student in rural Kenya can nw jin in cmputer science classes ffered by Stanfrd University thrugh platfrms like Cursera, gaining insights frm wrld-class prfessrs withut leaving hme. This breaks dwn gegraphical barriers, making quality educatin accessible t millins wh had limited pprtunities befre.
Hwever, critics argue that nline learning lacks the human cnnectin. Withut face-t-face interactins with teachers and classmates, students may struggle t develp cmmunicatin skills. A 2024 survey by the Internatinal Educatin Assciatin shwed that 72% f nline learners felt lnely during lng-term curses, and 45% admitted they missed the mtivatin that cmes frm a traditinal classrm envirnment.
Anther key issue is the different effect f nline learning based n individual habits. Self-disciplined (自律
的) students wh can manage their time wisely ften get imprved, using digital tls t rganize study plans and stay mtivated. In cntrast, thse wh lack self-cntrl may find it hard t keep up, leading t lwer academic perfrmance.

What is a majr advantage f nline learning mentined in the text?
Develping scial skills thrugh grup prjects.
Offering mre interactive activities than traditinal classes.
      Requiring n self-discipline due t pre-scheduled curses.
Prviding equal access t glbal high-quality educatin.
What can be inferred abut nline learning frm the third paragraph?
It is mre effective than classrm learning.
Self-management skills are imprtant t its success.
      Educatin shuld reduce technlgy use.
      The disadvantages utweigh its advantages.
What des the underlined wrd “hybrid” mean in Paragraph 4?

      C. Traditinal and time-tested.D. Mdern and technlgy-based.

High in the snwy peaks f the Himalayas and Central Asia wander the snw lepards — animals with thick, sptted fur and piercing blue eyes. Often called the “ghsts f the muntains,” these animals are nw facing extinctin, with nly 4,000—6,500 individuals left in the wild. The main threats they face are illegal hunting fr their fur, which is sld at high prices n the black market, and the lss f their icy habitats due t climate change.
T change this decline, cnservatinists like Dr. Amina Bhandari are wrking tirelessly t prtect bth the snw lepards and the cmmunities that share their muntain hme. “Fr generatins, herders ( 牧民) have seen snw lepards as a threat t their livestck,” explains Dr. Bhandari. “When a snw lepard kills a sheep r gat, herders
lse their livelihd, s they ften kill the lepards.” T address this cnflict, her team applies tw key strategies: building fences arund livestck t keep lepards ut, and establishing a prgram that pays herders fr any animals lst t snw lepards. “This way, herders n lnger see lepards as enemies but as part f their shared envirnment,” she says.
Scientists als use advanced technlgy t mnitr snw lepards and understand their needs. Camera traps hidden in the muntains catch rare images f these shy animals, while GPS cllars track their mvements acrss their living space. The data cllected helps identify imprtant habitats that need prtectin and allws researchers t value the impact f cnservatin effrts. “Snw lepards are predatrs ( 捕食性动物), and their presence indicates a
healthy ecsystem,” Dr. Bhandari ntes. “Prtecting them means prtecting the entire muntain chain.”
Despite the challenges there is hpe. Internatinal agreements like the Glbal Snw Lepard and Ecsystem Prtectin Prgram have united 12 cuntries t cperate n cnservatin. “Every snw lepard we save is a step tward balancing nature and human life,” Dr. Bhandari says. “We have a respnsibility t ensure these animals cntinue t wander arund their muntain hmes fr generatins t cme.”
Which is the reasn fr the snw lepards’ decline?
Lack f fd and frest destructin.B. Illegal hunting and habitat lss.
      C. Natural predatrs and water pllutin.D. Climate change and verfishing.
Hw d Dr. Bhandari’s team help herders and snw lepards live tgether peacefully?
Teaching herders t legally hunt snw lepards.
Mving herders and livestck t new areas.
Prviding financial payment fr lst livestck.
Killing snw lepards that attack livestck.
What is the methd fr the scientists t cllect the data?
By identifying habitats.B. By hiding in the muntain.
      C. By using High-tech skills.D. By interviewing the herders.
What is the writer’s purpse in writing this article?

I was an average student and smetimes belw average in my early primary years. I came hme with steady Bs, Cs and the smetimes Fs in secnd language subjects. I was tld that I wasn’t fcused and, as every reprt card I ever brught hme clearly stated, I talked t much.
I didn’t write when I was suppsed t write. I talked t my classmates while the teacher was giving instructins (命令). Repeating what she said t the class was unhelpful. It had a bad influence n my classmates’ learning. S I regularly brught hme disappinting reprt cards.
My parents and my teachers didn’t knw what t d with me. Punishments didn’t seem t wrk. Rewards didn’t
seem either. And, frankly, I didn’t think I knew what I culd d t fcus n myself. And I certainly didn’t knw hw t nt enjy talking with my classmates! What I knew was that I talked t much until Grade 5.
That autumn we had a sudden change in teachers as ur elderly teacher tk a medical leave. In his place, a yung substitute (代课老师) arrived — Mrs. Ryal. She lked like she was just ut f university and seemed t yung t play the rle f being respnsible fr a class f tweens, but there she was, charged with a lively grup, and me.
I dn’t remember many details f that year except the afternn when I gt my first reprt card frm her. She handed ut the reprt cards right after the afternn break and invited us t lk them ver. Then she let us knw that we culd all talk quietly amng urselves while she called each student up ne by ne in alphabetical (按字母顺序
的) rder t discuss ur reprt cards with her.

I lked ver my reprt card, thinking it was the same as befre. But t my surprise, her feedback was different. Instead f fcusing n the negatives, she pinted ut the imprvements I had made. She acknwledged my effrts, hwever small, and encuraged me t keep wrking n my weaknesses. I duble-checked and made sure it was definitely my reprt card. Even thugh we had been given permissin t talk amng urselves, I had very little t say t friends as I waited anxiusly fr her t call my name.
Then it was my turn t talk with her. As I apprached her desk, she greeted me with a warm smile that was like a ray f sunshine cutting thrugh the strm f my anxiety. Glancing dwn at my reprt card, I was aware f the absence f A’s and the lack f any mentin f t much talking. T my surprise, she seemed t read my thughts. Then, she delivered wrds that wuld change my perspective: I was mre than capable f achieving straight A’s, and I had valuable qualities beynd being a talkative student. Frm that day n , thse wrds became my mtivatin, pushing me t believe in myself and strive fr mre.
