Fr years, dctrs have given bld t patients wh need it t survive. These transfusins usually include giving red bld cells t patients.
Bld transfusins aren’t as simple as taking bld frm ne persn and giving it t smene else. There’re several different bld types that dn’t all mix well. If smene gets a transfusin f the wrng kind f bld, their bdy will reject the bld cells, causing prblems. Fr the first time ever, scientists frm the University f Bristl, Britain, are carrying ut a new trail: testing red bld cells grwn in a labratry n human vlunteers. The scientists have used stem cells (干细胞) frm a bld sample t grw billins f brand new red bld cells.
This culd be even better than a regular bld transfusin. Fr ne thing, they can be adjusted fr peple with different bld types. That’ll be extremely helpful fr peple with rare bld types. Als, a nrmal transfusin has red bld cells f all different ages, which means nly a small part f them are brand new. The red bld cells grwn in the lab are brand new, and this means they last lnger and that patients will need fewer transfusins.
T test its safety, researchers have given a cuple f teaspns f the bld t tw healthy peple, bth f whm seem t be ding just fine after the transfusins. In all, they’ll be tested n 10 peple, and cmpared t nrmal transfusins. The new prcess desn’t indicate that nrmal bld transfusins will disappear. Meanwhile, grwing red bld cells in a lab is extremely expensive. And a lt f wrk and testing still need t be dne. But if it’s successful, the prcess culd make life much easier fr patients wh ften need transfusins—even thse with rare bld types.
Why are the scientists carrying ut the research?
      A. The bld reserve is nt adequate.
      B. Nrmal bld transfusins are ut f date.
      C. Mre and mre peple need bld transfusins.
      D. They want t find a new trail f bld transfusins.
      29. What’s the advantages f the brand new red bld cells grwn in the lab?

A jint research team recently have develped a new electrnic skin that is similar t human skin in strength, durability (耐用性) and sensitivity. The skin r e-skin may play an imprtant rle in next- generatin persnalized medicine, sft rbtics and artificial intelligence.
“The ideal e-skin will mimic (模仿) the many natural functins f human skin, such as sensing temperature and tuch, accurately and in real time,” says leading researcher Yichen Cai. Hwever, making suitably flexible electrnics that can perfrm such delicate tasks while als used repeatedly is challenging, and each material invlved must be carefully engineered.
Mst e-skins are made by putting an active sensr n the surface that attaches t human skin. Hwever, the cnnectin between them is ften t weak, which reduces the durability and sensitivity f the material; therwise, if it is t strng, it wn’t be flexible enugh, making it mre likely t break the circuit.
“The landscape f skin electrnics keeps shifting at a remarkable pace,” says Cai. “The discvery f 2D sensrs has accelerated effrts t turn these quite thin but strng materials int functinal, durable artificial skins.”
The new man-made skin built by the researchers culd sense bjects frm 20 centimeters away. It culd further make a quick respnse when tuched in less than ne tenth f a secnd. “It is a striking achievement fr an e-skin t maintain tughness after repeated use,” said Yichen, “which mimics the sftness and rapid recvery f human skin.”
This type f e-skin culd mnitr a range f bilgical infrmatin, such as changes in bld pressure, which can be detected frm mvements f arms and legs. This data can then be shared and stred n the clud via Wi-Fi.
“One remaining prblem t the widespread use f e-skins lies in mass prductin f high-reslutin sensrs,” adds grup leader Vincent Tung, “Hwever, the latest technlgy ffers new prmise.”
      32. What prmtes the develpment f a new e-skin?
      A. Investment in educatin. B. Research int human skin.
      C. Advance in medical science. D. The discvery f 2D sensrs.
      33. Which statement is true abut the new e-skin?
      A. It’s quite hard and tugh.B. It’s flexible and sensitive.
      C. It can stre infrmatin.D. It can adjust bld pressure.
      34. What may be talked abut in the fllwing paragraph?
      A. Other prblems f the new e-skin.
      B. Wide applicatins f the new e-skin in many areas.
      C. The prcess f prducing high-reslutin sensrs n a large scale.
      D. The technlgy bsting high-reslutin sensrs’ mass prductin.
      35. What is the best title fr the text?
      A. A Breakthrugh in Hi-tech.B. Man-made Skin, Imprved.
      C. E-skin, a Prmising Business.D. The Widespread Use f E-skin.
