In my everyday life, I am n an nging jurney t figure ut different ways t reduce my carbn ftprint n the planet. A carbn ftprint is the measure f influence ur activities have n the envirnment, in particular climate change. It is calculated by the amunt f greenhuse gas we prduce in ur daily lives. Frtunately, nwadays it is much easier t make ec-friendly lifestyle chices than, let’s say, 20 years ag. But ne questin has been n my mind a lt lately: is it better t buy new ec-friendly prducts r used traditinally prduced gds?
After ding sme research, I have decided that sme things are better new and thers are better used. Let me try t explain.
A carbn ftprint is made up f tw parts, the primary ftprint and the secndary ftprint. The primary ftprint is a measure f ur direct emissins f carbn dixide (CO2) frm the burning f fuels, including husehld energy cnsumptin and transprtatin. The secndary ftprint is a measure f the indirect CO2 emissins frm the whle lifecycle f prducts we use — thse related t their prductin and breakdwn.
Based n this understanding, we have a gd deal f cntrl and respnsibility ver ur carbn ftprint. Things like dishes, clthes and furniture fall int the “secndary ftprint” grup, s less is mre and we can fcus n finding used gds t avid the added prductin. Hwever, fr the car and the ther appliances that we need we can g with new, energy-saving mdels. I heard smewhere that electrnics and appliances give ff 90% f their carbn ftprint after they leave the factry. S it seems mst reasnable t g fr the energy-saving mdels. The main cncern here is the amunt f energy that ges int the making f new prducts and whether r nt that extra carbn is wrth the ftprint the prduct will make nce it gets t yu.
24. What is the text mainly abut?
A. Hw t make ec-friendly lifestyle chices.
B. What a carbn ftprint means in ur life.
C. Hw t identify different carbn ftprints.
D. What appliances t buy t save energy.
25. What d we knw abut the secndary carbn ftprint?
A. It is cunted as urs thugh nt directly made by us.
B. It is made when we are buying the prducts.
C. It is less harmful than the primary carbn ftprint.
D. It is related t ur cnsumptin f fuels.
26. Which f the fllwing helps reduce ur carbn ftprint accrding t the authr?
A. Buying new wden furniture.B. Using ld and expensive cars.
C. Buying new but cheap clthes.D. Using secnd-hand textbks.
27. “The ftprint” underlined in the last sentence refers t the CO2 prduced in .
A. transprting the prductB. recycling the prduct
C. making the prductD. using the prduct

What is the place f art in a culture f inattentin? Recent visitrs t the Luvre reprt that turists can nw spend nly a minute in frnt f the Mna Lisa befre being asked t mve n. Much f that time, fr sme f them, is spent taking phtgraphs nt even f the painting but f themselves with the painting in the backgrund.
One view is that we have made turism and gallery-ging s easy that we have made it effectively impssible t appreciate what we’ve travelled t see.In this sciety, experience becmes gds like any ther. There are queues t climb Everest as well as t see famus paintings. Thus, leisure is cnsidered as hard labur rather than relaxatin.
In the rapidly develping sciety, what gets lst is the quality f lking.Cnsider an extreme example, the late philspher Richard Wllheim. When he visited the Luvre he culd spend as much as fur hurs sitting befre a painting. The first hur, he claimed, was necessary fr incrrect impressin t be remved. It was nly then that the picture wuld begin t disclse itself. This seems unthinkable tday, but it is still pssible t rganise. Even in the busiest museums there are many rms and many pictures wrth hurs f thinking which the crwds largely ignre.
Marcel Prust, anther lver f the Luvre, wrte: “It is nly thrugh art that we can escape frm urselves and knw hw anther persn sees a universe which is nt the same as ur wn and whse landscapes wuld therwise have remained as unknwn as any there may be n the mn.” If any art remains wrth seeing, it must lead us t such escapes. D. Art pushes us away frm urselves and explres the mn.
31. What is a suitable title fr the text?

D I think the sky is falling? Srt f.
My husband and I were recently in Egypt, where the temperature was a bit warm fr my tiny princess self. S, we left Egypt. Back hme, my dearest friends struggled with health stuff, with family craziness...
The game f life is hard, and a lt f us are playing hurt. I ache fr the wrld but naturally I'm mstly watching the “me” mvie, where balance and strength are beginning t fail. And the sparrw replies, “One des what ne can.”
This is what lder age means. We d what we can.
We cntinued ur walk. Neshama bent tentatively t pick up bits f litter and started t slip, but I caught her and we laughed. We are declining physically in lder age, but friendship makes it all a rwing machine fr the sul. We can take it, as lng as we feel and give lve, and laugh gently at urselves as we fall apart.
