Yu’ve just finished a cup f cffee at yur favrite cafe. Nw yu're facing a trash bin, a recycling
bin and a cmpst bin. What's the mst planet-friendly thing t d with yur cup?
Many f us wuld chse the recycling bin—but that's ften the wrng chice. In rder t hld liquids,
mst paper cffee cups are made with a thin plastic lining, which makes separating these materials and
recycling them difficult. In fact, the mst sustainable ptin isn't available at the trash bin. It happens earlier,
befre yu're handed a dispsable (一次性的) cup in the first place.
In tw natinwide surveys in the U.S. that we cnducted in Octber 2019 and March 2022, we fund
that peple ignre waste reductin and reuse in favr f recycling. We call this tendency recycling

health threat, especially fr cmmunities that receive large quantities f waste. New research suggests that
even when plastic des get recycled, it prduces enrmus amunts f micrplastic pllutin.
Experts and advcates widely agree that humans are generating waste wrldwide at levels that are
unmanageable and unsustainable. They have lng recmmended tackling the waste prblem by priritizing
surce reductin strategies that prevent the creatin f waste in the first place, rather than seeking t manage
and decrease its impact later. Creating items that can be recycled is better frm a sustainability angle than
burning them in an incineratr r burying them in a landfill, but it still cnsumes energy and resurces. In
cntrast, reducing waste generatin cnserves natural resurces and avids ther negative envirnmental
      impacts thrughut a prduct’s life.

8.What is the main idea f Paragraph 2?
      A. The paper cffee cup shuld be reused.
      B. The recycling bin desn't live up t its name.
      C. The paper cffee cup can't be recycled.
      D. The recycling bin shuld be imprved.
9.Why d peple prefer recycling when tackling waste?
      A. They have n ther chice abut waste dispsal.
      B. It is the mst envirnmentally friendly way.
      C. The previus educatin misled them t.
      D. It is the easiest and mst sustainable ptin.

      One pssible versin:
Rbert was fast sinking. It appeared increasingly likely that Rbert wuld be drwned. Just at the

smene in need f help. S Henry prmptly charged tward the riverbank, threw ff his clthes and
jumped int the water withut a mment’s hesitatin. He arrived at Rbert’s side precisely as he was
making his final descent. With tremendus effrt and at cnsiderable persnal risk,Henry managed t drag
Rbert t the safety f the shre. Wrn ut, Henry breathed a sigh f relief and a sense f achievement
      verwhelmed him.
Thus, Rbert’s life was saved. The instant he pened his eye after the narrw escape, he realized that
it was Henry wh came t his rescue even at risk f his wn life. Hw ashamed he was at having called
Henry a cward. In fact, Henry was the ne wh had true curage. He made an aplgy t Henry fr their

harvest a friend, but als learnt the true essence f curage :never be afraid t d gd, but always fear
      t d evil.
