I saw the Swedish film adaptatin (starred by Tbias Almbrge and Anna-Lena Brudin )f Fredrik Backman's incredibly funny, heartbreaking nvel “A Man Called Ove”. Tward the end f that film, which was beautifully written and directed by Hannes Hlm, there is a scene in which Ove, a widwer (鳏夫)in his 60s,takes his neighbrs ut fr a drive. As they ride tgether, the nrmally unfriendly and severe Ove sighs, allws himself a rare smile and says: “This is living. ”
Mst viewers prbably didn't give this little cmment f Ove's a secnd thught. Fr me, thugh, it marked the turning pint f Ove's search fr renewed purpse in his life.
In Ove, Backman has created a character wh at times can be unreasnable, stubbrn and even dwnright rude - the srt f man whse shcking and mrally unacceptable reactins t everyday situatins becme the subject f cmic anecdtes that are retld cuntless times by enemies and friends alike.
Many f the peple telling thse stries dn't realize, thugh, that much f Ove's strange behavir is actually a symptm f his private heartache. Widwed, living alne and recently pushed int retirement, Ove is struggling at the utset f Backman's stry t find smething wrth living fr, and his unwillingness t share with thers what he is ging thrugh serves nly t further separate him frm the wrld. Ove's situatin reminds me f the islatin we all felt during the COVID pandemic. I saw alng with everyne else hw quickly lneliness and islatin can influence harmny, driving peple apart at a time when we need t cnnect t thers the mst.
Ove is just ging n a drive with neighbrs when he says, “This is living, " but I think he is feeling the way many f us did when the pandemic became less serius and we began t recnnect with the wrld. In that mment, Ove has started t find his new purpse just by allwing thers back int his life and caring fr them.

In less than 2 mnths, the artificial intelligence (AI) prgram ChatGPT has becme a cultural sensatin (轰动). ChatGPT is develped with a technique called Reinfrcement Learning frm Human Feedback t train the language mdel, enabling it t autmatically create text based n written prmpts. I asked it t rewrite the first scene f the classic American play Death f a Salesman. The utput was an amusing cnversatin. This is certainly fun, but there are serius implicatins fr generative Al prgrams like ChatGPT in science and academia.
Many cncerns relate t hw ChatGPT will change educatin. It certainly can write essays abut a range f tpics. I gave it bth an exam and a final prject. It did well finding factual answers, but the schlarly writing still has a lng way t g. If anything, the implicatins fr educatin may push academics t rethink their curses in innvative ways and give assignments that aren't easily slved by Al. That culd be fr the best.
Mre wrrisme are the effects f ChatGPT n writing scientific papers. In a recent study abstract created by ChatGPT were submitted t academic reviewers, wh nly caught 63% f these fakes. That's a lt f Al-generated text that culd find its way int the literature sn.
The text written by ChatGPT is nt acceptable. An Al prgram cannt be an authr. Still, accrding t Editrial Plicies, text generated by ChatGPT (r any ther Al tls) cannt be used in the wrk, nr can figures, images, r graphics be the prducts f such tls. Breaking these plicies will be cnsidered scientific miscnduct (学术不端)n different frm plagiarism (剽窃)f existing wrks.
The scientific recrd is ultimately ne f the human effrts f struggling with imprtant questins. Machines play an imprtant rle, but as tls fr the peple giving the hyptheses (假设),designing the experiments and making sense f the results. Ultimately the prduct must cme frm-and be expressed by-the wnderful cmputer in ur heads.

      A. Cmpetitins.
      B. Incidents.
      C. Restrictins.
      D. Effects.
      33. What culd be ChatGPT's benefit fr educatin, if any?
      A. It culd help better the schlarly writing.
      B. It culd write essays abut varieties f tpics.
      C. It culd be used t design difficult assignments.
      D. It culd urge academics t make imprvements.
      34. What can be inferred abut ChatGPT?
      A. It is welcmed by academics.
      B. It may cause scientific miscnduct.
      C. It is basically useless fr scientific research.
      D. It wrks greatly t the advantage f educatin.
      35. Which can be a suitable title fr the text?
      A. ChatGPT Is Fun, But Nt an Authr
      B. ChatGPT Has Becme a Cultural Sensatin
      C. ChatGPT Will Change Our Way f Educatin
      D. ChatGPT Plays an Imprtant Rle in Science
