“He wasn’t smiling r anything, and I was like, ‘I think this is ging t make yu smile,’” Graham says. “I
tld him, ‘We’re in the same third perid, and I aplgize fr laughing at yu, and I want t give smething t yu

Childhd malnutritin(营养不良) is a well-knwn prblem in lw-and middle-incme cuntries, but children
in cuntries such as Bangladesh als face increasing rates f besity(肥胖). Obesity in bth public and private
schls in Bangladesh ranges frm 14% t 38%, and abut 23.6% f adlescents are verweight. Because the fd
envirnment — i.e. the type and amunt f fd that is available and accessible — affects children’s dietary
preferences and health utcmes, it is cnsidered a primary cause f besity. Bangladesh must cllect data abut
the fd envirnment in and near schls and then use that infrmatin t address childhd besity.
Characterizing the fd envirnment in Bangladesh is challenging. Mbile and seasnal fd vendrs are
difficult t track, but unhealthy fd ptins are ften fund near and within schls. Specific grups, such as
peple between 17 and 30 years f age, tend t cnsume unhealthy fd mre frequently. The percentage f urban,
cllege-ging adlescents wh cnsume fast fd is 68.1%.
Given evidence that prviding healthy, affrdable fd in and near schls can effectively address childhd
besity, Bangladesh shuld take immediate actin. Plicymakers shuld fcus n increasing awareness f the risks
assciated with the cnsumptin f unhealthy, unhygienic, and fast fd by children and yung adults. Outreach
shuld target students as well as the teaching staff and parents wh supprt them. The gvernment f Bangladesh
shuld als prmte healthy fds in clse prximity t schls.
Hwever, lw- and middle-incme cuntries may differ frm high-incme cuntries. T enable effective and
targeted actin, Bangladesh shuld cllect systematic, in-depth data abut the frequency and availability f types f
fd in and near schls, the spatial distributin f and differences in fd ptins, the factrs influencing dietary
chices, and the impact f these chices n health utcmes. Bangladesh and ther lw- and middle-incme
cuntries facing increased childhd besity shuld cnduct research similar t studies that have been dne in
high-incme cuntries, such as the United States, Canada, Eurpe, and New Zealand. Such research culd
determine the effects f differences in scial status, ecnmics, sex, educatin, and gegraphic lcatin n
childhd besity.
28. What mainly cntributes t childhd besity in Bangladesh?
A. Imprved ecnmic envirnment. B. Families’ dietary preferences.
C. Schls’ demanding rules. D. Accessible fd chices.
29. What infrmatin abut Bangladesh can be inferred frm paragraph 2?
A. Fd vendrs are unifrmly distributed.
B. Data abut the fd envirnment is easy t cllect.
C. The fd envirnment near and within schls deserves mre attentin.
D. Peple between 20 and 25 years ld cnsume mre fast fd than adlescents.
30. What measure shuld Bangladesh take accrding t paragraph 3?
A. Clsing fast fd restaurants near schls.
B. Making healthy fd affrdable fr parents.
C. Strengthening risk management plicies in and ut f schls.
4
D. Prmting publicity f cnsequences f eating unhealthy fd.
31. Why des the authr mentin high-incme cuntries?
A. T give mre examples f childhd besity.
B. T cmpare current besity situatins glbally.
C. T prve ineffectiveness f previus strategies.
D. T ffer insights int slutins t childhd besity.

As genetic and bimarker tests becme mre cmmn, s d new treatments that target specific tumr(肿瘤)
types and may lead t better utcmes.
Patients with the same cancer type received a ne-size-fits-all apprach that didn’t wrk fr many. “We used
t treat just based n whether the tumr was bigger than a centimeter,” says Kimberly Allisn, a surgical
pathlgist and breast cancer researcher at Stanfrd University Schl f Medicine. “The bilgy didn’t matter;
yu pretty much gave chem-treatment(化疗) t everybdy.”
The gd news is that this has changed dramatically in the last few decades. Patients are n lnger assessed
and treated based nly n the lcatin and size f their cancer. Researchers nw lk fr DNA changes and a range
f ther bilgical indicatrs. With this infrmatin, clinical teams can apprach each case with mre nuance, diagnsing and treating patients accrding t their persnal physical cnditins — and the specific characteristics
f their cancer.
This has been achieved in large part thrugh tw distinct types f tests: genetic screening and bimarker
testing. As researchers cntinue t hme in n the underlying genetic factrs f different cancers, the rle f these
tests in bth diagnsis and treatment is nly ging t grw. The first f the tw testing methds, genetic testing,
helps t assess the cancer risk f healthy peple and their family members. The technique ges thrugh a persn’s
inherited DNA fr gene variants knwn t increase the risk f develping cancer, r affect hw the tumr might
respnd t treatment. Fr example, Hereditary BRCA1/2 mutatins significantly increase breast cancer risk. The
secnd testing methd, bimarker testing, tends t happen nce smene has already been diagnsed with cancer.
Bimarkers are bjective, measurable signs that can help clinicians understand hw a cancer is prgressing, r hw
it might respnd t specific treatments.
While persnalized treatment is nw an ptin in many cancer types, data suggests there’s a lng rad ahead
t make genetic and bimarker testing (e.g., germline genetic testing in
