Seven f the 10 cckats figured it ut, with tw cmpleting the task within 35secnds n their first attempt! Since the cckats dn’t have similar fraging (觅食的) requirements in the wild, there is n chance that they can adapt their tl-using strategies t the task naturally.
Next, the team mixed up the bxes and randmly presented each bird with a bx with the membrane r a bx withut. The birds were given the same tw tls. As a result, all the cckats mastered the test quickly and were able t recgnize when a single tl was sufficient and when tw tls were required.

Mst cckats carried the tw tls tgether when they were presented with a bx having the membrane. “I’ve seen birds cmbining bjects playfully, but they rarely transprt mre than ne bject tgether in their nrmal behavir,” says ne bilgist. “We feel that, in terms f technical cgnitin and tl use, birds have been underestimated.
