I think he felt special, like he was getting attentin, smething that I culd see he hadn’t experienced in a lng time.
I ften think abut this stry because, t me, it’s nt just abut helping smene ut by feeding them. It’s mre abut giving them the respect and dignity(尊严)f being a human being and allwing them t feel gd abut themselves.

A rare trnad warning was issued Tuesday fr the New Yrk City area, caused by severe thunderstrms that rlled thrugh the regin. While it’s uncmmn fr trnades t hit majr cities like New Yrk, scientists say that may nt always be the case.
There’s n special reasn why trnades seem t miss big cities. It just cmes dwn t chance. “Cities are small targets cmpared t vast stretches f frests, muntains r therwise rural regins,” said Victr Gensini, a climatlgist at Nrthern Illinis University in DeKalb. “It’s very rare fr a dwntwn metr business district t get hit.” But, as cities grw and develpments spill beynd city limits, these areas becme part f an “expanding bull’s-eye” effect.
Thugh rare, trnades have hit big cities. In 1999, a strng trnad blew thrugh Salt Lake City, causing ne death and at least 81 injuries. In 2000,a trnad struck dwntwn Frt Wrth, Texas, killing tw peple. And in 2008, a pwerful trnad struck dwntwn Atlanta, killing ne persn and becming the first n recrd t strike that city center.
“These are very lw prbability events, but if and when they ccur, they will likely be devastating.” Gensini said. Part f the danger f a trnad hitting an urban area is the huge amunt f debris(残骸)such a strm wuld generate. “The big thing that yu need t wrry abut is flying glass. There’s a lt mre glass in New Yrk City than in Shawnee, Oklahma, where I live,” said Patrick Marsh, a meterlgist.
In big cities like Chicag r New Yrk City, there’s als a lt f tightly packed buildings, which culd result in pwer cuts that affect a greater percentage f the lcal ppulatin, he added. But these increased risks dn’t necessarily mean urban trnades will be mre deadly. “In big cities, mst f the structures are cncrete r metal, s yu have a lt f structures that the vast majrity f trnades are nt ging t be able t break thrugh,” Marsh said.
28.Why is it uncmmn fr trnades t hit majr cities?
      A.It is a matter f chice.B.It is a matter f prbability.
C.It is due t the effrts f scientistsD.It is due t the develpment f cities.
29.What des the authr want t shw by giving the examples f trnades in paragraph 3?
      A.Trnades can strike big cities.
B.Trnades can cause deaths in big cities.
C.Trnades in big cities are quite pwerful.
D.Trnades in big cities are rarely recrded.
30.What des the underlined wrd “devastating” in paragraph 4 mean?
      A.Predictable.B.Regular.C.Destructive.D.Special.
31.What des Marsh think f mst f the buildings in big cities?
A.They are unsafe t live in.B.They are elegantly designed.
C.They are t crwded tgether.D.They are able t resist mst trnades.
      D
Yu want a ptential partner t becme attracted t yu. If asked, shuld yu say yu’re interested in him r her? Perhaps, the best ptin wuld be t let him r her knw yu are interested. Hw can they knw therwise? Or perhaps, yu shuld play a frm f hard t get and tell him r her that yu are nt interested. After all, maybe we want mre what we can’t have.
A wide range f research suggests that the better ptin wuld be t let him r her knw yu are interested. In shrt, we tend t like peple wh we knw like us. But, interestingly, accrding t a recent research published in Psychlgical Science, an even better chice might be t nt let the ther persn knw ne way r the ther.
In this study, participants viewed Facebk prfiles(简介)f several peple. Participants were tld that the peple in the prfiles were either interested in them, nt interested in them, r that it was unsure if they were interested in them.
Results fund that peple were mre interested in the persn in the Facebk prfile if they thught the persn was interested in them, than if they thught they were nt. But, the Facebk prfiles that were cnsidered mst attractive were the nes in which the prfile’s wner may r may nt have been interested in the participant.
We have all heard that playing hard t get can wrk, but we als knw that this culd backfire. And we all have heard that we tend t like peple wh like us, but we als knw that a little mystery is appealing.
I imagine sme readers at this pint thinking, "Gd, this sunds like playing games. And, I hate that!"I am thinking the same thing, but I think it is imprtant t realize these are first impressins and very early stages f attractin. At sme pint(dates later), nt knwing where the ther persn stands culd be incredibly frustrating. It wuld be interesting t see the effects f uncertainty n attractin in mre lng-term relatinships.
32.Accrding t the recent research, which is the best ptin when asked the questin in paragraph 1?
      A.Admit ur interest.B.Ignre the questin.
C.Leave it up in the air.D.Pretend t be uninterested.
33.What is paragraph 5 mainly abut?

B.An explanatin f the research results.
C.The cmplexity f the research prcess.
D.The applicatin f the research findings.
34.What is the authr’s attitude tward the research findings?
      A.Unclear.B.Dismissive.C.Dubtful.D.Apprving.
35.Which f the fllwing can be a suitable title fr the text?
      A.Uncertainty Fuels Attractin
      B.Playing Hard t Get N Lnger Wrks
      C.Tips n Being Mysterius in a Relatinship
      D.Secrets t a Healthy Lng-term Relatinship

Desperate(急切的)fr smething t write, I culd nly think abut the fight I’d just had with my dad. “I am the sn f an idit(白痴)!” I wrte and then rushed int the rm. I handed my card t Dr. Simn and tk my seat. The mment I sat dwn, I panicked. What had I dne? Oh, n! I didn’t mean t let that ut.
The next day in class, Dr. Simn began giving back the cards. I gt mine with trembling hands. “What des the ‘sn f an idit’ d with the rest f his life?” it read. This simple questin hit me like a tn f bricks. I had spent a lt f time hanging ut in the student unin cafeteria talking with ther yung men abut the prblems we had because f ur parents. N ne challenged anyne t take respnsibility fr themselves. We thught it was all ur parents’ fault.

      My Views n Healthy Eating
Hell, everyne! Tday, I’d like t discuss the imprtance f healthy eating. Many teenagers tday are cnsuming excessive amunts f fast fd, sugary drinks and snacks, leading t issues like besity and lw energy levels. In my pinin, a balanced diet is crucial fr ur physical and mental well-being, as well as academic perfrmance.
T address this, I suggest adding mre fruits, vegetables, and whle grains int ur meals, which prvide essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber that bst ur immune system and energy. Additinally, replacing sugary drinks with water can als make a significant difference. Let’s take small but meaningful steps tward a healthier lifestyle tday!
      Thank yu!
      【审题关注点】
      1.英语课上→不能写Dear teachers
Dr. Simn’s questin gt right t the heart f the issue: Whse prblem is it? At first, I felt defensive, still wrapped up in my anger twards my cntrlling father. But gradually, I began t see things differently. I realized that I had created a life in which I was nt a central figure! Dr. Simn’s questin challenged me t cnfrnt my wn respnsibility in the situatin. It wasn’t abut hw terrible my father was r hw much cntrl he had ver me; it was abut what I wuld make f myself despite, r perhaps because f, my circumstances. Suddenly, my righteus anger tward my father and the blame game in the student unin cafeteria felt shallw and childish.
I didn’t g t the student unin that day and went straight hme. My father was sitting in the living rm. The atmsphere was tense, the earlier cnflict hanging in the air. After hesitating fr a mment, I tk a deep breath, sat dwn acrss frm my father and began t speak, calmly. Instead f cntrlling, I saw him as cncerned and caring. Surprisingly, there were n shuts r angry wrds thrughut the cnversatin. Gradually, I nticed a shift nt nly in ur relatinship but als within myself. I went frm cnstant anger t becme smene wh was energized, excited, purpseful and even jyful. And it all started with a simple questin.
