On entering the park, yu’re given a magnifying lens (放大镜). Guided by plant experts, yu are invited t get dwn n yur hands and knees t explre the little-knwn wrld f Tierra del Fueg’s “miniature frests” — the bryphytes that cver the rcks and trees. Fcus is key: as yu tipte thrugh the park, it is easy t miss r even step n them.
I wndered hw interesting msses culd be. But when I gt up clse they started t cme t life. Shapes and clurs appeared that were nt visible t the naked eye. One plant was bright yellw, while anther was green with a bright red tip like a little hat.
One f the strangest plants is Old Man’s Beard, which lks like thin ndles and hangs ff the trees in webs. Accrding t my guide Lily Lewis, it plays an imprtant rle in the grwth f the frest, capturing nutrients (营养) and salts blwn in n the cean wind.
Old Man’s Beard is extremely vulnerable t pllutin, and has all but disappeared acrss much f the planet. But in Tierra del Fueg, where the air and rain are amng the cleanest n the planet, it grws wildly.

While AI can beat us at chess, driving cars, and even cmpsing music, making us laugh seems t be its final bundary.
My musical cmedy, Artificially Intelligent, was inspired by the time I asked AI t write me a shw based n my life, and it gave me sme madly terrible results. I perfrmed sme f its materials in the shw, and I even made AI write a sng fr an audience member live n the spt, and it was always funny in its terribleness. It generated sngs telling the audience member wh is a dctr t hit the eyes f her c-wrker wh she is always arguing with. Hwever, this wasn’t independent thinking; we had t feed AI as much infrmatin as pssible t get any results frm it. When it cmes t actually getting AI t craft jkes n its wn, it can’t.
The prblem with AI and cmedy is its lack f human nuance (细微差别) fr humr. AI might be able t create a jke structure, but it des nt have the ability t pull frm persnal experience. It lacks a pint f view, situatinal awareness, cntext, and cultural awareness needed fr gd cmedy. Irny (讽刺), a cmplex frm f human cmmunicatin, is hard fr AI because f its reliance n cntext, tne, and cultural knwledge. Unlike humans, AI can’t infer meaning beynd clear statements. Irny invlves saying ne thing but meaning anther, relying n shared cntext, but AI nly prcesses text and can’t pick up audi and visual cues fr irny. AI must signal it’s making a jke.
As f nw, thugh AI has made impressive prgress in sme areas, it is abslutely nt funny, but in the future theretically yes. When technlgy advances t the pint where rbts are walking arund with free will and independent thinking, experiencing life and ptentially even emtins, they wuld theretically begin t have enugh viewpints t create cmedy, r an activity that vices their experience f being an AI. Hwever, this wuld create its wn culture and wuld nly be relatable t ther AIs.
The truth is that audience is really enjying the AI-generated material in my shw, even if the jke is bad. But — technically — des that make it funny?
12. Hw des the authr illustrate AI’s limitatin in making jkes in Paragraph 2?
A. By prviding data.B. By giving an example.
C. By shwing a survey result.D. By making a cmparisn.
13. What des the authr try t explain in Paragraph 3?
A. What AI jkes are made up f.B. Hw AI understands the meaning f irny.
C. Why AI fails t create a gd jke actually.D. Whether AI can learn frm funny experiences.
14. What des the authr think f AI in the future?
A. It will relate its culture t humans.B. It will teach itself the thery f cmedy.
C. It will be free t express thers’ feelings.D. It will develp its wn culture f humr.
15. Which can be a suitable title fr this passage?
A. Will AI ever be funny?B. Is AI ging t learn t laugh?
C. Is AI the future f entertainment?D. Will AI be the pineer in new fields?
