A Christmas Carol is a famous short novel written by Charles Dickens.是查尔斯·狄更斯写的一部著名短篇小说。此处是过去分词(短语)作后置定语:written by Charles Dickens 是过去分词短语作后置定语,修饰short novel.例:He likes the novels written by Mo Yan. 他喜欢莫言写的小说。[拓展]英语中表示“被动关系”的有两种形式:是过去分词作定语;二是被动语态,“be+动词的过去分词”在句子中作谓语。例:The novels written by Lu Xun are very educational.(过去分词作定语,表被动)鲁迅写的小说很有教育意义。The novels were written by Lu Xun.(被动语态)这些小说是鲁迅写的。3.He is mean and only thinks about himself他十分吝啬,只想着自己。mean此处用作形容词,意为“吝啬的;小气的;刻薄的”。例:She is mean with money.她用钱很吝啬。Don't be so mean to her不要对她如此刻薄!4.
