Three years int my pstdc (博士后), I started t wnder whether I needed a new career plan. After applying fr mre than tw dzen teaching jbs, I hadn’t landed a single interview.

Sandstrms, rainfall and turist visits cnstitute the mst severe threats t the UNESCO Wrld Heritage Site, said Wang Xiawei, directr f the Dunhuang Grttes Mnitring Center at the Dunhuang Academy.
Since the Mga Caves pened t the public in 1979, the number f visitrs has been grwing at an average annual rate f arund 20 percent, reaching 2.15 millin in 2019. This year, the site is expected t receive a recrd 3 millin visitrs.
“If yu enter the caves during the peak turism mnths f July, August and September, yu’ll find it hard t breathe,” Wang said. The carbn dixide and misture exhaled by visitrs accumulate inside the caves and cause damage t the murals, Wang said.
