Table tennis is ne f thse sprts that mst peple wuld likely assume is simply unplayable by the blind. An Australian student, hwever, is nw using cameras and speakers t get unsighted individuals in n the ping png actin.
There are already tw games fr the blind (namely Swish and Shwdwn) which are similar t table tennis, but invlve hitting a ball that makes a ring nise back and frth alng the surface f a table. In that sense, they're almst mre like air hckey (曲棍球). Playing table tennis with a special ball that makes ther sunds is anther pssibility, but such electrnics-filled balls wuldn't perfrm like the much lighter cnventinal balls.
It was with such limitatins in mind that University f Sydney engineering hnrs student Phebe Peng—wrking with ARIA Research Cmpany—created her experimental new system.
The system includes a traditinal table, bats and ball, alng with a grup f speakers alng the sides f the table, and tw neurmrphic (神经形态的) cameras. Als knwn as event cameras, the latter track the mvement f bjects within their field f view thrugh lcal changes in brightness, which are detected by the image sensr.
With the jint utput f bth cameras, it's pssible t track the psitin f the ball in three- dimensinal space, in real time. A special prgram uses that data t cntrl the speakers, causing them t prduce a sund field matching the current psitin f the ball.
The idea is that bth players simply listen fr the psitin f the ball, as sent ut by the speakers. That said, mre research needs t be cnducted befre the system is made available fr real- wrld use.
“An nging technical challenge is the matter f human perceptin (感知) f sund,” said Peng. “There are limitatins n hw accurately peple can perceive sund lcalizatin. What type f sund shuld be used? This is a technical challenge well be slving in the next stage f develpment. ”
    28. What is the purpse f the student-designed system?
    A. T allw the blind t play table tennis. B. T prvide multiple chices fr peple.
    C. T get the sighted individuals active again. D. T ppularize table tennis amng the disabled.
    29. What's the majr limiting factr f the special ball that makes sund?
    A. The high price. B. The pr quality.
    C. The technical issue. D. The weight prblem.
    30. Hw des the system track the psitin f the ball in the game?
    A. By applying GPS technlgy. B. By using ne camera's image sensr.
    C. By cmbining the data f tw cameras. D. By detecting sund waves sent ut by the ball.
    31. What is the key prblem facing peple accrding t the last paragraph?
    A. The inaccuracy f perceiving sund. B. The instability f the event cameras.
    C. The difficulty f the mass prductin. D. The cmplexity f handling the prgram.

    C. T reveal histrical facts abut “hlding space”. D. T present the skills required fr “hlding space”.

    34. What des Brdkin advise us t d?
    A. Stp being affected by thers' cmments. B. Pick an investment accunt.
    C. Build a healthy relatinship with thers. D. Shw the greatest tlerance t thers.
    35. What is the best title f the text?

Table tennis is ne f thse sprts that mst peple wuld likely assume is simply unplayable by the blind.
