Hi, many thanks fr inviting me. I’ve been a TV news presenter fr fur years nw. I did a cuple f ther jbs after university, first in radi in my hme city and then as a jurnalist n a magazine. I enjyed bth jbs very much.
I present the five ’clck evening news. There’s a lt f preparatin t d befre I start. First I get the newspapers and g thrugh each ne carefully. That way I understand what’s in the news reprts I have t present that day. Then I have meetings with the editr f the news prgramme in the TV studi.
After that I have t spend a bit f time chsing the right jacket t put n! I think it’s really imprtant, because that’s what yu see when I’m sitting at my desk, reading the news. But at least I dn’t need t wrry abut my trusers r my shes as n- ne gets t lk at thse!
What d I find particularly difficult? Well, I smetimes say things wrngly! I dn’t ften make mistakes with the names f cities r cuntries, whatever the language, but it’s names f peple which I smetimes find a real challenge t get exactly right!
Nw, I can’t chse what news t present f curse! But I d have my favurite tpic. I really enjy business, s reading news abut that is always interesting t me. Fr sme f my clleagues, the mst interesting subject is plitics r even fashin. We’re all different!
What abut the future? I’ve been tld I culd make a gd actr. I’ve never been attracted by that, thugh. As a teenager, I always dreamt f becming a prducer. I still think it wuld be exciting if I get the chance. Maybe I’ll d that ne day.
Nw, any questins… (fade)

Mandy: Well, when I finished schl, I trained as a nurse fr a year, but I wasn’t very gd at that. I’d always lved music, and I wanted t save mney t buy equipment, s I started lking after elderly peple. As sn as I had enugh, I bught what I needed. I gt my first jb as a disc jckey almst immediately.
Int:But then yu started singing instead. Hw did that happen?
Mandy: Well, I’d been a disc jckey fr abut fur years, then last year, I read abut a DJ cmpetitin in Ireland and I entered. I did sme live singing n stage that night and ne f the judges asked me if I’d be interested in
singing prfessinally. I was very lucky, really.
Int:S nw yu’re in a band called ‘Dish’. Tell us abut yur new recrd, the ne that’s in the shps nw...

Int:And yu’re wrking n a new CD?
Mandy: Yes, but we haven’t finished recrding that yet. There are still tw mre sngs t d but I’m very prud f it. It’s traditinal rck but we’ve included sme electrnic music t t make it really unusual. I just hpe the public will buy it! We think it’s great!
Int:And what kind f music d yu listen t at hme?
Mandy: That’s difficult. The music I like best has wrds that mean smething t me, I suppse. I lve dance music t, but yu can’t listen t it all the time and I generally prefer female artists t male, I think t. But that depends n the singer.
Int:And yur future plans?
Mandy: Oh! I’ve gt s much wrk t d at the mment – televisin perfrmances and cncerts, it’s hard t plan. But I’d really like t wn a night club ne day... smewhere great t dance, s that’s my next prject. One day, perhaps I’ll try t learn t play the guitar – that wuld be nice – but I’m t busy t think abut it at the mment. I can write and sing, that’s what I d best.
Int:Well, lts f luck with yur new CD and thanks fr cming.
Mandy:Yu’re welcme!
