Practicing gratitude (感恩) has varius benefits fr ur well-being. The researchers randmly assigned (分配) ver 600 parents in the United States t three different grups. The first grup was asked t write a general gratitude letter t smene. In the secnd grup, parents wrte a “safe haven” gratitude letter abut smene wh made them feel accepted, cherished, r prtected. Immediately after the writing activity, parents were surveyed n their well-being: psitive emtins, empathetic emtins, negative emtins, meaning in life, cnnectedness t thers, cmpetence, and autnmy. They were als surveyed n hw clse they felt tward their children. One week later, parents were surveyed n their well-being and clseness again. Additinally, they answered questins abut their happiness, satisfactin with their parenting, and their children’s psitive and challenging behavirs.
The results? Parents wh wrte either type f gratitude letter tended t experience greater psitive emtins immediately, and, in turn, experienced greater well-being and fewer negative emtins— ne week later.
