Octber 14 is Internatinal E-Waste Day—a day t draw peple’s attentin t the prblems f electrnic waste. In 2023, the day was fcused n “invisible” (r unseen) e-waste.
Electrnic waste, r e-waste, is the name given t ld electrnic devices (设备) that are thrwn away. These can include ld cmputers, phnes and TVs. E-waste is a big prblem.
While electrnics can make life easier and mre fun, they aren’t easy n the envirnment.
As newer, mre mdern devices cme ut, lts f electrnics are thrwn away, instead f being recycled. They ften end up in landfills, where the chemicals inside them may be a danger t the envirnment. There can be risky materials in electrnics. If these materials get int the grund r water, the pllutin can cause serius prblems.
Mst electrnics require nt widely knwn r easily fund metals (金属). These metals, like gld, must be mined (开采) frm the earth, which ften creates serius pllutin. In many cases, these materials are getting harder and harder t find. If mre e-waste was recycled, many f thse metals culd be taken frm ld electrnic devices.
