Handwritten Chinese characters (文字) can be beautiful. I still remember lking at Chinese and nt understanding anything it said and yet feeling a strng attractin. In fact, sme students start learning Chinese because f the characters. After having studied Chinese fr a while, I realized that handwriting in Chinese takes a very lng time t learn.
Living as we d in a digital era (数字时代) with smartphnes and cmputers, mst students sner r later ask themselves this questin: Is it really necessary t learn hw t write by hand in Chinese? When using smartphnes r cmputers, we can use phnetic input (语音输入) systems, which chse the characters we want fr us as lng as we can remember hw they are prnunced. Since we enter different characters, we seldm need t be able t recgnize the difference between characters in detail; the cmputer makes the right chices fr us. D we really need t write Chinese by hand at all?
I think mst peple agree that yu shuld learn t write at least sme characters at sme pint as a student f Chinese, althugh nt necessarily straight away and nt necessarily all the characters that yu can say. But unless yu dn’t care abut written language at all, yu shuld learn the basics f handwriting. Withut it, it will be very hard t understand characters. Yu dn’t need t be a calligraphy master (书法大师), but yu d need basic handwriting skills t d this. Simply lking at things is, as usual, a bad way f learning.
I think learning the mst cmmn 500 characters r s is a gd idea fr all students. If yu actually want t write by hand, increase that t 1, 000. Then learn t handwrite characters utside f the 1, 000 mst cmmn n a need-t-knw basis.

Dragns, a famus imaginary beast brn frm fantasy, are ften present in stries in the west and east. In bth cultures, dragns are generally recgnized as massive creatures capable f flight. Therefre, t symblize their pwer, ancient Chinese emperrs decrated their clthes with dragn patterns. These clthes are knwn as dragn rbes. Many Chinese view the dragn as a natinal symbl, prudly referring t themselves as "descendants f the dragn". In the west, hwever, a dragn symblizes an evil creature that spreads vilence and terrr thrughut the land. They are believed t be transfrmed by the devil, with the ability t breathe fire r spit pisn. Many western tales shw dragns being defeated and killed t prtect peple frm danger.
Tday, dragns cntinue t evlve, exceeding traditinal bundaries and finding new significance in glbal culture. They are n lnger assciated with evil r gd, but rather as cmplex characters with their wn unique persnalities and mtivatins. Fr example, Tthless frm Hw t Train Yur Dragn begins as a dangerus dragn but evlves int a misunderstd being with lve and cmpassin. This challenges the idea f dragns as naturally evil, presenting them as cmplex beings with emtins and mtivatins.

That als meant that the animals, land and resurces yu were near gverned what yu’d cnsume and hw yu’d prepare and ck it.(你来自哪里并不重要——你必须吃东西。 B项“Fd is a universal necessity(食物是普遍的必需品)”符合本段主旨。故选B。
③根据上文“Ever wnder why the prcess t preserve meat is s different arund the wrld?(有没有想过为什么世界各地保存肉类的过程如此不同?)” E项“t has t d with lcal resurces, needs, and climates(这与当地的资源、需求和气候有关)”符合题意,对上文问题进行回答。
根据上文“India’s cuisine is extremely varied frm regin t regin, with meat and wheat heavy dishes in the far nrth, t spectacular fish delicacies in the east, t rice-based vegetarian diets in the suth.(印度的烹饪因地区而异,在遥远的北方以肉和小麦为主,在东部以美味的鱼类为主,在南部则以米饭为主的素食)”可是,上文陈述了印度南、北、东部烹饪的特点。 C 项“And the western part is hme t strict vegetarians(而西部则是严格素食主义者的家园)”符合题意。故选C。
⑤根据下文“A fd turist wn’t just fcus n having a pint at Oktberfest, but will be interested in learning the German beer making prcess, and pssibly hw they can make their wn fresh beer. (美食游客不会只关注在啤酒节上喝上一品脱,他们还会对了解德国啤酒的制作过程感兴趣,可能还会对他们如何制作自己的新鲜啤酒感兴趣)”可知,美食游客不仅对当地美食感兴趣,还对美食的制作,以及自己如何制作当地美食感兴趣。由此可知,美食游客把食物和文化的联系提到的一个新的高度。G 项“Sme peple have taken the cmbinatin f fd and culture t a new level(有些人把食物和文化的结合提升到了一个新的高度)”符合题意。故选G。
