5.It’s really true what peple say abut English pliteness: it’s everywhere. When squeezing past smene in a narrw passage, peple say “srry”. When getting ff a bus, English passengers say “thank yu” rather than the driver. In Germany, peple wuld never dream f ding these things. After all, squeezing past thers is smetimes unavidable, and the bus driver is nly ding his jb. I used t think the same way, withut questining it, until I started traveling t the British Isles, and here are sme mre plite ways f interacting with peple in UK.
Peple thank each ther everywhere in England, all the time. When peple buy smething in a shp, custmer and shp assistant in mst cases thank each ther twice r mre. In Germany, it wuld be exceptinal t hear mre than ne thank yu in such a cnversatin. British students thank their lecturers when leaving the rm. English emplyers thank their emplyees fr ding their jbs, as ppsite t Germans, wh wuld nrmally think that paying their wrkers mney is already enugh.
Anther thing I bserved during my stay was that English peple rarely criticize thers. Even when I was wrking and mistakes were pinted ut t me, my emplyers emphasized several times but nne f their explanatins were intended as criticism. It has been my impressin that by aviding criticism, English peple are making an effrt t make thers feel cmfrtable. This als is shwed in ther ways. British men still pen drs fr wmen, and British men are mre likely t treat wmen t a meal than German men. Hwever, I d need t pint ut here that this applies t English men a bit mre than it wuld t Scttish men! Yes, the latter are a bit tightfisted.
35.What is the authr’s attitude twards English pliteness?
    A. He thinks it is unnecessary.B. He thinks little f it.
    C. He appreciates it very much.D. He thinks it ges t far.

My every waking hur was cnsumed by the prject and althugh I imagined that I wuld feel happy after cmpleting parts f the prject, I was cnfused t find that instead, I was feeling rather depressed. I tried a range f methds t help cheer myself up. I had a relaxing bath, cked a delicius meal t enjy with my family and even watched a lighthearted mvie, but t n avail. It was nly when I turned t meditatin fr a slutin that the answer came t me: turn t nature!
The very next day, I grabbed my camera and a bttle f water and set ff t spend a few hurs walking in a nature reserve, even thugh it was puring with rain. Within a cuple f minutes I felt alive again. T be hnest, I felt like a yung schl girl again and had t stp myself frm hpping alng the path singing, "I'm singing in the rain", a sng I used t sing when I was a child. I think as adults we ften try t hard t cntrl ur inner children and as a result we restrain ur wn spirits, which nly leads t depressin and stress.
Interestingly, it has been shwn that peple wh spend 40 minutes walking in a nature reserve have a drp in their bld pressure levels, but this des nt happen when they spend a similar amunt f time walking in a busy city centre.
If yu feel a little lw in spirit and knw that yu have spent t much time indrs, relax cmpletely, remve yur shes and let yur inner child cme ut and play.
