It has a meldic quality, cupled with exaggerated facial expressins. Adults als tend t speak mre slwly and emphasize key wrds r phrases when engaging in baby talk. What's the pint f using such a ridiculus style f talking with babies? Why nt just talk t a baby with nrmal speech, like we'd talk t anther adult?
Primarily, we use baby talk t capture the baby's attentin. The exaggerated vcalizatins and facial expressins serve t engage the child’s fcus by being distinct frm all the ther nise and
visual stimuli arund the baby. Remember, the brain f a newbrn baby is still develping and needs different cues t engage and learn smething.
Baby talk als helps t establish an emtinal cnnectin between the adult and the baby. The meldic and nurturing tne cnveys affectin, lve, and care. As a result, in a way, it reassures the child by giving them a sense f security.
Interestingly, there was a study where researchers tested 2,329 babies frm 16 cuntries n their preference fr this high-pitched, animated vcalizatin……babies lve it when adults engage in baby talk. The study als revealed that babies frm almst all cultures have an inherent lve fr baby talk.

Bth Rbert and Keith have a 45-minute cmmute(通勤) time frm their hmes t their wrkplace. When Rbert drives, he has realistic expectatins f hw thers drive and hw lng the trip shuld take. Overall, he is able t adapt t any unexpected challenges he may: face n the rad.
He rarely becmes angry. By cntrast, Keith drives with a tendency fr becming angry easily, partly due t unrealistic expectatins f ther drivers, his quickness t persnalize and feel threatened by the actins f thers, and his inability t calm his anger.
The difference between hw Rbert and Keith experience their drive t wrk, especially with regard t getting angry, is influenced very much by their emtinal intelligence. Emtinal intelligence is crucial fr helping individuals chse cnstructive ver destructive anger. A key aspect f healthy anger is being able t pause and reflect n, rather than react t ur thughts, feelings, and senses assciated with getting angry.
Self-regulatin and empathy(同理心) are tw imprtant cmpnents f emtinal intelligence, which can be a buffer(缓冲) against destructive anger. Self-regulatin helps us t cntrl ur mds. Empathy helps us t recgnize the humanity. in thers and urselves.
Studies suggest that training in emtinal intelligence can pwerfully impact hw anger is managed. This was supprted by a three-year study f 476 yung adults wh shwed reduced tendency f becming angry after training. Children and adults can learn skills t bst their emtinal intelligence and, by ding s, develp adaptability fr dealing with varius negative feelings, including anger. Many wrkbks ffer skills in emtinal intelligence t prmte empathy and self-awareness regarding emtins and hw they impact ur beliefs and behavir.
Clearly, thrugh training, Keith wuld experience greater emtinal flexibility that culd supprt a mre peaceful cmmute t wrk. I firmly believe that learning skills in emtinal intelligence shuld be the fcus in helping individuals mre cnstructively manage this highly challenging and cmplex emtin.

    A. Thinking ver the annying situatin.

    C. Turning a blind eye t the unwelcme situatin.
    D. Expressing feelings abut the disturbing situatin.
    33. What is the authr's attitude twards training in emtinal intelligence?
    A. Supprtive. B. Dubtful.
    C. Negative. D. Tlerant.
    34. What wuld happen t Keith if he received training in emtinal intelligence?
    A. He wuld shrten his cmmute time.
    B. He wuld stp threatening ther drivers.
    C. He wuld help thers mre deliberately.
    D. He wuld manage emtíns mre cnstructively.
    35. What is the suitable title f the text?
    A. The Rle f Empathy in Cmmuting Peacefully
    B. The Influence f Emtinal Intelligence n Life
    C. The Need fr Drivers t Enhance Their Intellectual Training

Science shws that stretching us essential after exercise. Stretching lengthens and mbilizes the cnnective tissue arund yur muscle. What's mre, stretching helps yur bld flw and even relieves yur stress. 36

While it's great t get that bld flwing, it's just as imprtant t get yur heart rate back t a nrmal level after the wrkut is ver. 37 As yur heart is beating faster and yur bdy temperature is higher, yu culd pass ut r feel sick if yu stp* t fast. Stretching after physical activity allws a gradual decrease at the end f the episde.
Yur muscles will likely becme stiffer and srer. When yu exercise yur muscles, it prduces lactic acid(乳酸), which is actually what causes yur muscles t becme sre. When yu rest between perids f exercise, yur bdy naturally breaks dwn that lactic acid. Luckily, my 44 as a psychlgist has given me sme insights int this puzzle. We knw that musical tastes begin t 45 when we're teenagers. By the time we're in ur early 20s, these tastes get lcked int place pretty firmly.
In fact, studies have fund that by the time we turn 33, mst f us have 46 listening t new music. Meanwhile, thse familiar sngs released when yu're in yur early teens are likely t remain quite 47 amng yur age grup fr the rest f yur life. There culd be a bilgical 48 fr this. There's evidence that the brain's ability t make subtle distinctins between different chrds, rhythms and meldies gets 49 with age. S t lder peple, less 50 sngs might all“sund the same”.
But I believe there are sme simpler 51 fr lder peple’s dislike f newer music the “me re expsure effect.” It means that the mre we're 52 t smething, the mre we tend t like it.
Psychlgy research has shwn that the emtins that we 53 as teens seem mre intense than thse that cme later. We als knw that intense emtins are 54 with strnger memries and preferences. All f this might explain why the sngs we listen t during this perid becme s memrable and belved.
S there's 55 wrng with yur parents because they dn't like yur music. In a way, it's all part f the natural rder f things.
