African penguins have suffered a massive ppulatin decline ver the decades and are listed as endangered by the Internatinal Unin fr Cnservatin f Nature. S any successful hatching is cause fr celebratin, said Jessica Peranteau, directr f animal training and educatin at the aquarium.
“As the ppulatin f the African penguin cntinues t rapidly decline—dwn 23% in the past tw years alne—OdySea Aquarium remains cmmitted t the survival f the species in partnership with Assciatin f Zs and Aquariums，” Peranteau said in a statement. The breeding prgram established by the rganizatin aims t build up a gene bank fr the species.
Officials say tw f the three new chicks in Scttsdale were brn t parents Mj and Lemieux—a pwer cuple f srts that was selected fr pairing as part f the breeding prgram. The third chick was brn t first­time parents Bubbles and Weasley.
Aquarium wrkers will regularly cnduct “chick checks”， brief exams t mnitr their grwth and develpment and ensure they are hitting all necessary milestnes. The three chicks have yet t be named, and their sex hasn't yet been determined. Fr nw they're knwn by their numbers, 42，43 and 44. In all, OdySea Aquarium nw has 40 African penguins and has recrded 13 successful hatching.

Music talent shw judges attract millins f viewers each week t their prgrams. As public figures, they play an imprtant part in advertising campaigns fr these prgrams. They ften receive high salaries and can be mdy. Are they really wrth the expenses and difficulties that they can cause? One slutin might be t replace them with cmputers.
Can cmputers really match human judges? Scientist Dr Nick Cllins and his team at the University f Sussex think they can. Dr Cllins has been wrking n a prject that invlves prgramming three cmputerized judges that he says wuld be far mre cnsistent in their judgment f musical perfrmances. Emplying a special prgramming language, Dr Cllins's digital judges can be trained up by “listening” t particular musical styles. After they have been listening fr a while, the prgramming language allws these judges t spt the specific features f the music, including the vice quality, the rhythm etc. Cllins says, “The judges' listening capacity is nt yet as gd as a human ear, but they wn't be as mdy as sme human reality TV shw judges.”
