Recently a research n hw a new virtual reality (VR) experience educated primary children abut the fire disasters was dne. It was develped by the University f Suth Australia, aiming t educate children t learn hw t be safer in a fire.
Fcusing n children aged 10-12 years, the new VR experience presents a situatin where children are tasked t lk after a friend’s dg just befre a fire event begins t unfld. They participate in a series f prblem-slving activities t help save and prtect themselves and the dg.
The findings shwed that mre than 80 percent f children reprted that they felt mre cnfident t calmly evaluate the ptins and make wise decisins t prtect themselves frm a fire. This is especially significant cnsidering that 91 per cent f participants riginally lacked any knwledge f fires, and that 67 per cent had said that they were t yung t make safety decisins in a fire.
The researchers believed such immersive (沉浸式的) VR experiences had real ptential t engage, educate and empwer the yung. “As children brn in digital times, they are engaged by such technlgy and they can experience events realistically yet within the safe envirnment,” said Delene Weber, ne f the researchers. “Well-designed VR can prvide an pprtunity fr children t apply newly acquired knwledge, strengthen their learnt cncepts, and enable immediate feedback — all incredibly valuable learning tls.”
