Set 40 kilmeters nrtheast f the city f Ambatndrazaka, the Zahamena Natinal Park's landscape cnsists f (……组成) valleys surrunded by a flwing muntain range.
It has an verall land cverage f 64, 300 hectares, but nly 42, 000 hectares is pen t the public due t strict cnservatin (环境保护) reasns. It receives an average yearly rainfall level f abut 6 feet and experiences frequent rain shwers even during the dry seasn between April and Octber.
One really interesting thing abut the Zahamena Natinal Park is that the unique territry f its highland has paved the way fr the develpment f several ecsystems that exist at the same time in this park. This prtected area is divided int tw parts, with a separate piece f land in the middle where many small villages are situated. These villages are inhabited (居住) by the members f the Sihanaka and Betsimisaraka ethnic grups.
The Zahamena Natinal Park gets its name frm the lcal Zahana Mena tree, an uncmmn type f hardwd that grws in the lwer regins f this prtected area. It is characterized by its resilient (坚韧的) wd that can be rather challenging t cut, jin, shape and carve even with mdern tls.

But it was impssible t decide n the silver medal since the tw Americans Abel Kiviat and Nrman Taber finished side by side.
